Rules

  • Be Kind
We are not asking you to be kind in character, but simply be kind out of character. While it is hard to have a roleplay without proper conflict, don't take that outside of the setting. It's not fun to deal with OOC drama

    Post Length
I am asking that if you are playing on the forums you are giving at least enough to get by. If you and your partner are doing a rapid dialogue and choose to only post a few sentences, that's okay. If you're in a group RP and you only live a single line, that isn't fair to the rest of the platers.

In Character Actions have In Character Consequences
If you do something, expect there to be a reaction. If you set fire to the main tent during the height of the circus, bad things will happen. Likewise, if you insult the strong man. Do you give a flower to the bearded woman? Well, she might just blush. When you do things, other things happen.

    Content
While this group is open to anyone over the age of 18, we ask that you mark posts with violence or other sensitive topics. Erotic RP and Excessive violence should be kept to PM only. Fade to black is acceptable, as is the lead-up. I recognize we are adults, but there are certain things we do not want to see and it is only fair.

    Real People/Real Conditions
One of the things that was most appealing about the circus was the freak show. There are a number of people who are famous even today because of the conditions they had. While this is just a game, I want players to be mindful of the people who were behind those conditions. If a player is found using the real story and name of a famous act, they will be asked to change it. Inspiration is fine, but we need to remember these were people and there are people today who live with these conditions.
    Story Time

When I was younger, I was able to see a circus and my brother invited one of the people who was a performer to dinner at our house. He was one of the nicest people I had ever met and he remembered me years later when I emailed him on a whim. He is a lovely person and I will not tolerate players forgetting that these performers and acts were people. A warning system will be put in place, but I want everyone to be looking out for people being disrespectful of the conditions.

    Animal Abuse
Animal abuse is a real thing in the history of the circus. I'm not saying it didn't happen, but I will not let it be a focus of the RP here. If you feel that it would be a good plot, you must mark your post clearly. It doesn't matter how "small" it is, mark it.
