Matthew very nearly dared to question his good fortune. He ducked out of the rain and into avmusty pawn shop resting deep within the French quarter of New Orleans. The small cramped shop was wall to wall knick knacks and memorabilia from nearly every decade. Counters and shelves stocked with a few notable artifacts. Matthew steeled his urge to look and went straight to the gorgeous young woman behind the counter.
“Hello I’m Matthew Drake,” he said, setting his satchel on. “I spoke on the phone with a Mr. Devroue concerning a set of coins.”
She smiled- almost in a predatory fashion- and said,” I’m sorry Mr. Devroue is... indisposed. But if you wait just a moment I’m sure we can help you.”
We?
Matthew looked back just in time to see a lanky fellow lock the iron gate. When he looked back at the girl she had a spark of darkness in her eyes and a set of fangs bared at him. Mathew felt a familiar heat begin radiating on his right arm.
“Well damn...”

She'd been walking though the quarter as she often did, going through an area where little shops seemed to be popping up left and right. Well whatever the city wanted? More shops meant the tourists would spend more money, that was a good thing. She didnt see the guy who'd gone into the shop, missed seeing him enter it by a minute or two probably, but was walking towards the place. Pausing here and there to look into windows.
Was dressed at the moment in a short black skirt, red leggings and a black top, boots on her feet, black lace gloves on her hands, and a set of red wings on her back that were obviously fake. Was a great outfit for the quarter because most didnt really look twice at yet another goth teenager.

“I would ask that we not do this,” Matthew said, backing away from the counter. “We could damage something priceless.” They closed in on him regardless, growls eminating from their throats. “St the very least take this outside?” No answer just more growls. Matthew sighed. “Very well.”
He lashed out, cuffing the vampiress in the jaw with a right hook. Her head snapped back and her friend hissed, bumrushing Matthew.

She heard the sounds of the fight, and moved a bit faster. Was there within a moment or two looking in the window , wasnt a great view of everything, but she could see a bit, and hear it all. what the ever lovin hell... although sounded like whoever it was against those two was holding his own.
She would simply listen, and see if it sounded like he needed help. Easier than totally blowing cover and showing up in the midsts of it all. Then again, screw it. She stepped into the doorway and entered shadows then stepped back out of them within the shop. Eyes narrowed as she took everything in, then her head turned quickly to the guy "ohh shit" she felt the heat gathering, and she was back through those shadows and back outside, she did not feel like getting fried tonight. They could get fried, didnt care, they'd obviously been stupid after all.

Matthew pushed the man off him and into a display case. He cursed under his breath when the man’s weight destroyed the items inside. Meaty hands gripped the man by his coat, and with a small pulse of magic blasted the vampire out of the shop’s window and into the street. He faced the woman. Heat was now rolling off him, distorting the air around them.
“I’ll ask again,” Matthew growled,” Can we please not do this here?”

One came flying through the window, she quickly moved over to it and just as quickly snapped his neck. Wasnt anywhere near long term, but would keep him out of things for at least fifteen minutes while he healed the damage. She could decide in that time what to do about him. She stepped through the now shattered window though, not quite as near to all that heat here, and she could still jump into the street easily if he lost it and set fire to the shop. "I suggest you take him up on his offer, I wont be real thrilled if the building burns down." Her eyes on the vampire who was still squaring off with the fire bug, and hey was not trying to be derogatory there.
Now if this one, was smart she'd notice who was talking to her, but hey she wouldnt care at all if the girl was as stupid as she looked, well to her. She wasnt really paying any attention to if there were more. The wind outside picked up just a bit though, and blew through the window to swirl through the store. Wasnt strong, but it was very much evident

Matthew eyed the new arrival but wasn’t about to question the sudden aid. “The odds are quite even now,” he said. “Run sling and I’ll more than happily forget this.”
Just as the words left his mouth he felt someone push him into a nearby display case. His arms crushed through the glass and pain blossomed across each forearm as a wet warmth began running down his arms. The pain only made his anger flare. Grey eyes fixated on a another man, likely the sod that had pushed him.
“Fine,” Matthew muttered. Pulling from his arcane reserves he willed a plume of flame to envelope his hands. The blood dripping from his wounds evaporated.

'Fun' she thought as his hands burst into flame. She eyed the one who'd knocked into him and the woman, and well seemed to her that he was calling dibs on the guy, so she calmly walked over to the female her eyes nearly glowing gold at the moment. Her voice very very soft, too quiet for anyone without a lot of preternatural hearing to really pick up "You messed up."
Then she pulled a blade, and drove it straight into the womans eye and into her brain. Knew it wouldnt keep her down, the silver within the steel was a pain but she wasnt trying to kill her, at least not that quickly. She called out silently to others in the city to come and get the trash she left out front and lock them away. She then snapped the womans neck as well before throwing her through the window as well, so she didnt quite stick to the same opening, but it also didnt matter she wouldnt feel that anyway.
She looked back to the firebug and tilted her head as she watched him dealing with the one that was left. "Need help with taking the rest of this trash out?"

Startled but pleased at the young lady’s kindness in helping a stranger in need. “My dear I would enjoy a hand in dealing with these ruffians.” Flames spewed from his hand as he lashed out toward the street. The flames engulfed the man he’d tossed. “Shall we?”
"As long as you keep those flames away from me?" She kind of chuckled, but did walk toward the window to head out, just was being real careful to stay away from the stream of flames that shot out from his hand. She carefully stepped through the window looking out at the street.
“Thank you madam.”
Matthew turned to the new man to arrive and threw a punch only for him to duck it. Matthew feinted right and caught him in the stomach before tossing him into the street with a pulse of magic.

She nodded in response to his thanks. Turned and looked at him with a grin. "I think that is all of them" Wasnt pleased at all that there was this little nest of vampires who'd come and begun all of this. They knew better than to mess around in her territory.
The street grew a bit darker, seemed to be covered in shadows even where there should have been light. Didnt need tourists seeing all of this either, nothing like seeming dead bodies laying in the middle of a public street, with some of them burning to kill tourism.
