Kingdom name: Osia
Location: Southern coastal wetlands
Ruler: Empress Vera Mae Delossa
Council: Annora Sofia Delossa (Military), Marna Rau Litwin (Diplomatics/economics)
Capital: Marshlyn
Exports: While having excellent quality weapons, armor and tools, only a small quantity are allowed to be sold outside of Osia's borders. the main profitable trade goods are the abundant amounts of
spices and herbs, both medicinal and as cooking ingredients.
Inhabitants: Solely populated by the three subspecies of Shrimp-Tailed Dragons. The three are Abyssal, Regular, and Royal.
Abyssal Dragon's fur is devoid of color, often being white, black or shade of grey with markings being the only colorful. Only Abyssal Dragon's markings are bio-luminescent. With black sclera and vertical pupils, a Abyssal's gaze can be quite unsettling. Abyssal Dragon's are the most aggressive of the subspecies. As such Abyssal Dragons make up the entirety of the Scout and Guard corps. The current empress is of the Abyssal subspecies.
Regular Dragon's are brighter and more vibrant then Abyssals. Coming in almost any color and marking pattern imaginable. They make up the majority of the population along with the work force and standing military. Regular Dragon's have no truly distinct traits, instead being the most balanced of the three subspecies.
Royal Dragon's are the brightest and vibrant of all the Dragons. As with Regular Dragons, Royals come in any color pattern imaginable. Royal Dragons make up the minority of the population. They are the opposite of the Abyssals, being far less aggressive and diplomatic. Royal Dragons make up the majority of the Diplomatic corps.
Though only recently stepping out on to the world stage, Osia has a stance of Armed Neutrality, thus always keeping a strong military force but not engaging in battle until a enemy has crossed it's borders
The Scout corps is not only the eyes and ears of the kingdom but also one of it's most combat capable units. Members of the Scouts usually end up on the empress's personal detail or offered transfer to the Guard corps after serving a certain time in service to the Scouts, by request or in in the case of the Empress's detail, recommendation from at least two superior officers or the Empress herself. The Empress is a active member of the Scout corps despite her position as ruler, occasionally leaving the capital in order to personally lead scouting patrols along the border.
The Guard corps is the law and shield of the kingdom, acting as both law keepers inside the border and defenders along it. With sites all along the border the Guard is ready to repel any invaders. Members of the Guard do not patrol far from camp, instead letting the Scouts patrol between Guard camps. Gard camps also act as rest and resupply points for Scout patrols and are always ready to come to their assistance if needed. Members of the Guard often serve time with the Scouts, either before transferring to the Guards, by request, or after serving a certain time in the Guards.
Members of both the Scouts and Guards cross train regularly together, leading to the two corps being the most combat capable of the entire Osian army. Members of both corps are issued both a sawback longknife and a halfsaw sword, though what is carried by each individual soldier varies. Guard members are also issued a bow or crossbow, depending on the soldiers choice. Scouts are strictly issued longbows.
The Diplomatic corps is the mouth of the kingdom. When the empress is away it is the Diplomatic corps that runs Osia. Members of the Diplomatic corps have only recently began to travel outside of Osia's borders and are almost always accompanied by soldiers of the Scout and Guard corps, the escorts usually being veterans that have served in both corps. They are also trained and issued long knives for self defense.
The uniforms of both Osia's army and Diplomatic corps include a cloak and hood.

Export
Osia has only recently began to truly adventure beyond it's own borders, sending Scout patrols and Diplomatic missions. Diplomatic missions generally carry small amounts of trade goods, essentially samples of what can be offered. Rarely though will weapons or armor be among the samples aside from what each member of the mission carries. The Empress has ruled that only a small quantity be produced for trade and that everything related to the metal be kept secret from outsiders, aside from how care for the metal. The Osian name for the metal is Wradeln, meaning Wetland Steel. Due to confusion caused by initial language barriers and pronunciation, outside of Osia it is referred to as 'Warden Steel'. (beyond this point I will refer to the metal solely as warden steel, especially here in the information section..)
Warden steel is similar to regular steel, even as far as looking alike. Warden steel makes up the majority of Osian weapons, armor and tools (those that require metal that is). It is extremely resistant to corrosion. This makes it ideal for the environment in which it is used, the swampy wetlands and surrounding jungle that can easily corrode other metals if not cared for frequently. The metal has a faint blue gleam when in the light, though after a period of years the metal will take on a faint green hue and gleam.
Military
In terms of military capability, Osia has no form of mounted troops as the geography of the kingdom and surrounding lands does not allow for effective use. Lack of mounted troops is offset by the fact that Shrimp-tails dragons are adept at moving quickly through the wetlands that make up their home.
The majority of Osian troops wear leather armor with thin warden steel plates sewn into the shins, forearms and back of the hand. These serve a dual purpose of parrying a attack and add weight to a attack. Regular soldiers wear green cloaks and hoods.
Guards armor is heavier compared to standard issue, additions being more plates of warden steel covering the chest, upper arms, and thighs. Members of the Guard wear brown cloaks and hoods.
Scout armor is nearly identical to standard issue, adding more pockets and modifying, or as with earlier versions, removing the armor spaulders to increase mobility. Members of the Scouts wear mottled green and grey cloaks and hoods that help to camouflage and conceal them from both wildlife and potential enemies.
While the Osian military does not have a dedicated archery force, every citizen is a hunter. Besides being issued 'halfsaw' swords and sawback longknives, soldiers are issued either a long or recurve bow, which is issued varies with both the skill and stature of the individual. Some troops initially issued recurve bows due to lack of skill but later show improvement have the choice of switching to a longbow.
Skilled soldiers of shorter stature continue to use the recurve bow. Despite the Empress's shorter stature, she chooses use a somewhat scaled down longbow. As a active member of the Scout corps she is fairly skilled in it's use.
As they do not patrol too far from camp, members of the Guard corps are issued heavier crossbows, favoring slow firing but harder hitting bolts over faster firing and lighter hitting arrows.
The Diplomatic corps does not issue bows or crossbows, instead relying on their escorts for ranged protection. They are generally only issued the longknife, though a few chose to carry a halfsaw instead.
No Osian soldier carries a shield and only ceremonial units carries weapons larger then standard issued weapons. The Empress's near identical twin sister and top military adviser is the only soldier to consistently carry a large forty-eight inch Halfsaw sword.
A imposing figure that towers over the Empress at roughly six feet and eleven inches tall, Field marshal Annora Sofia Delossa is easily the largest known Shrimp-tailed Dragon in Osia's recorded history. While her sister joined the Scout corps, Annora joined the Guards corp. Annora proved to be stubborn and almost inflexible when completing a task, traits well suited for a member of the Guard but not for a empress. According to Osian law it is in fact Annora who should be empress instead of her sister, being born before her. While having almost completely opposite views and personalities Annora knew that Vera was the more flexibly in terms of thinking and therefore the better choice for a Osia just taking it's first steps into the larger world.
Prominent Locations
Marshlyn
Population: 21500
The capital of Osia, that despite it's name was built almost on the coastal shore. Situated near a coastal lagoon, It is within the mangrove swamps that border Ragno lagoon. At one time the city was mostly hidden from view by the swamp it resides in but over time growth and expansion has revealed it to view. The majority of structures are built from stone and nestled in and amongst the massive mangrove trees. The most prominent structure of the city is Braewood Hold, built in the direct center of the original site of Marshlyn but has since become considered to be in the northern part of the city due to southward expansion to Ragno lagoon. While not especially large, Braewood contains the administrative heart of Osia. This includes the royal and advisory council members residences. it is also the headquarters of the Diplomatic corps. On the shore line of Ragno lagoon, stretching all the way to the Shrouded Sea sits fisheries, kelp, seaweed and various other agricultural sites, including a few of the various herbs that are exported.
Cruik Fortress
Population: roughly 2213
Far to the northwest of Marshlyn, practically over looking the valleys of the northern border lies the imposing Cruik Fortress. One of three sister fortresses built into the highest points in Osia, Cruik is a circular stone fortress with sloped walls and high towers that overlook every direction. Built into the surrounding rock faces and partially covered with natural camouflage of vines and other growth are several bunkers connected to the main fortress via tunnels. The majority of these bunkers face towards the border, though some are positioned to fire into the fortress itself to attack the enemy should the entrances be breached. Cruik Fortress could be easily be considered Osia's shield as the majority of traffic flows through the northern border. Due to it's location Cruik is also considered Osia's primary trade hub, a decent sized village having cropped up in the lands around the base of the fortress.
Kogot Fortress Ruins
Population: 0 (formerly 2200)
To the east of Cruik and almost directly north of Marshlyn lies the abandoned sister of Cruik and Kosa fortresses. Once as mighty as her sister to the west, Kogot fortress was wiped out by a unknown means many years ago. The last known signal from the fortress warned to danger and to stay away. Reinforcement where sent in case it was a enemy attack, but none returned. Afterwards the then ruling family forbid anymore attempts to enter the fortress. Since then the Empress has periodically sends a scout patrol to view the fort, reporting occasionally of hauntingly forlorn wails and other noises coming from within Kogot along with a almost crushing feeling of dread when in it's vicinity. Even animal's avoid the ruins. Choked with overgrowth and a few of the outer bunkers partially crumbling Kogot silently guards the east, even though the soldiers of Osia no longer inhabit her. Till this day it is unknown what calamity befell the once mighty Kogot.
Kosa Fortress
Population: 800
To the west of Cruik sits her sister, Kosa fortress. Being in the almost completely unpopulated and rarely traveled roads of the western borders, Kosa is the smallest of the sisters and is the least populated. The fortress is mostly used as a Scout corps base camp, where patrols often begin and end. While smaller then her sisters, Kosa is laid out identical to them.

Misc. information
For unknown reason's Shrimp-Tailed Dragon's seemingly lack the ability to practice magic or use many magical items. Attempts at practicing magic have generally ended in nothing at all, the only success being flameless light. Items of magical nature often do not work properly or not at all when the Dragon's are around. Aside from flameless light, Dragon's are weary of magic in general, becoming uneasy in the presence of magical items or those who practice other magics.
When being worn in a ceremonial or formal occasion, Osian soldiers wear black capes and hoods. Depending on the individual and/or circumstances these may be substituted by use of a waist sash. Regular Osian soldiers generally wear the cloak with officers often preferring the waist sash. Field marshal Annora Sofia Delossa, due to her position and with the Empress's consent, wears a vibrant blue waist sash as opposed to her sisters red. When attending events together the two wear waist sashes featuring both colors as a sign of unity.
