Everyone loves a good bit of music! And today people would be allowed to decide who did the best! For once, there was no jury on the stage. Instead, every audience member was given a piece of paper with each contestant drawn upon. They simply had to draw a line behind the musician(s) they liked the best.
The stage was big. Big enough for a large group of people or one person to move around on. Behind the scenes, many people were anxiously awaiting their turn. An announcer would decide who was to go first.
In the back, a group of Goblins and Hobgoblins sat on their chairs, holding on to their instruments; a cello, a trumpet, and a bagpipe. Three of them were Hobgoblins and two regular Goblins, kicking their feet on the bench. The one wearing no instrument, presumably the singer, was smoking a pipe. All of them wore black cloaks for some reason, as though they were green Grim Reapers.
Soon the announcer would start calling out the bands who were to play their music.

Marah was not nervous. She had performed for the royal court more times than she could remember, and this time would be no different from those. She had won some of the highest honors in her people's world of music, and music was everything to her. It was, among other things, the easiest thing to permeate with magic, allowing her to use ancient chants to work wonders in magic. Stories in the south say that there is a raven-haired woman who can sing the birds to sleep and chant a whole army into the Arkhmezre. There is debate among scholars on whether they are speaking of Marah.
She sat calmly, tuning her instrument of choice: a simple, but high-quality, lute. She already knew the song she would sing.

The group of musical artists that came from Ahn'Kahet seemed a little off key compared to what the rest of their nation represented. Not a single one of them wore black clothing or variants of armor. The five that were currently preparing themselves all seemed to be of elven descent, with all but one of them being female. They all wore simple white robes with silver linings and decor around the edges of the garments albeit one of the females, notably the tallest among that gender, whom had gold lining and decoration on her clothing.
The five kept their instruments to themselves mostly, heading off to one of the far corners of the backstage to discreetly tune their instruments, although the instrument carried by the tallest female was a bit hard to conceal, she was carrying a harp. The instrument itself was slender and looked rather delicate, as if one could drop it and it would shatter into pieces.
