The crowd gathered in the stands, as a simple stage was erected in the middle of the stadium for this event. An old dwarf with a large ear-phone, a very plainly dressed elf, and a human with a head-clamp upon her head were settled in chairs a few feet from the stage. They had numbers on large pieces of wood nearby, stacked in three separate piles. From the sides, the gates opened and the contestants were ushered in by a few gnomes wearing strangely colored hats, "This way, this way!" Another one joins in, "Tell us your poems today!"
The crowd claps, politely, as the contestants were ushered in. Some stood, while others purchased snacks from the wandering vendor. Sticks with questionable meats were handed out, and coin was exchanged. The stage featured a back-drop curtain of red fabric, a chair, and a stool with a few glasses of water on it.
