A lone Kri-Rit was carried onto the banks of an island to the south of Osia by a seaborne race of Saduri. To its knowledge the island was empty, however the creatures of Enerin still have not too good a knowledge of the outside world to judge what was populated and what wasn't. The Kri-Rit had the look of Upright Mantis' with the head of an ant. In its mouth were a pair of sharp mandibles. Covering its entire body was thick back scale-like skin, that glistened in the sunlight. On its backs were four folded limbs, however what they looked was unsure. On its hands were only three fingers, each claw like in appearance.
In the sand of the beach it began drawing a symbol slowly and monotonously. Standing in the dead centre of it while its two arms drew the circle, then once it had been completed another stepped out joining the other followed by three more until the five Kri-Rit stood around. On all of their bodies was painted a distinct red moon, identifying them as part of the Wandering Caste of Enein.

The island did not seem much more inhabited than the stories told, even if the arriving Saduri didn't see a lot of it. The beach was quite large, turning into hills and eventually mountains. From where they were standing the mountain-chain seemed to curl around the island, forming into cliffs to the east while just continuing as far as they could see to the east. Also to the east was the tree-line of a big forest that seemed continue high up into the eastern mountain.
The island might have seemed uninteresting at first glance aside from one small detail that would not be missed by the nature-loving Enerim. Nowhere, in the sky or near the mountains, could they see a single sign of a bird. It seemed nothing lived on the island, or at least not on this part of it....

The five Kri-Rit stood there looking over the island, taking it all in while standing there silently, communicating over their hivemind. They had heard no stories of the island as the creatures of Enerin rarely left their border unless it was the wandering caste, but even they were rarely in other countries for long. Not going near any populated areas. The five finally finished looking over the island. Instantly they knew at the same time that something was wrong. Their connective hivemind making sure each knew what every other knew.
There was no wildlife. That thought hung in their minds and they slowly moved back to the symbol from which a few seconds later appeared five more Kri-Rit, three Nezzara, five Hazkar, two Chitau a druid and a treant. The collection of creatures stood there discussing the issue. Now they spoke out loud, in a language that seemed to be made up of clacking and whistling. If there was no wildlife it meant only a few things. One there were hunters of wildlife. Vigourous ones or the wildlife had left for a reason. To them either was bad.

If hunters were the cause then the people of Enerim found no sign of them, in fact it seemed no person had walked this island for ages. In the forests they did find some signs of animal life however, faded tracks or raggedy nests hanging in the trees.
About an hour of going west would reveal something interesting however, it seemed that, maybe a day's travel away there was a valley between mountain ranges.

The different creatures of Enerin after grouping up and discussing it would stay in one large pack slowly but surely going from place to place throughout the northern tip of the island. After satisfying themselves on the safeness of this portion at least of the island. After that the Kri-Rit began to wander further afield. Slowly moving out from their original positions while the other beings waited next to the symbol that had been drawn. Anything the others thought or saw being relayed to them the second they saw it.
While the valley had been spotted amongst the mountains to the creatures of Enerin it held no particular interest. After all quite a lot of the species inside Enerin had lived in mountains themselves so that sight held no higher interest than anything else they saw. After a while the other beings left through the symbol leaving the Ten Kri-Rit to explore the island. Each one slowly covering more and more of its surface. One would come to the valley eventually. however it would be several days since the original Kri-Rit there had arrived.

And it was then this Kri-Rit saw something it had not seen before... a bird. Ahead of the bird and high in the sky a falcon was circling, seemingly hunting for food. If the Kri-rit came closer however the falcon would suddenly break off from the hunting and fly away.
The Kri-Rit watched the falcon break off from the hunt and fly away. In their heads they all reached the same conclusion. That this part of the island they were nearing was inhabited. In response they collectively began drawing three of the symbols had been drawn before. This time from each one portals would come two druids, five chitau and two treants and a gnome. These beings would slowly follow the direction the falcon had gone. Staying in a defensive formation.
But they met nobody as they proceeded and still there was no sign of any civilized life. Yet here the forest was at least inhabited by animals, they caught sight of the odd mouse plodding it's way through the under bush, a squirrel hopping from tree to tree and heard the chirping of birds.
