Lying beneath the surface of the Broken Island, the huge capital of Vahstar was built decades ago. The dwarfs spend life here in relative peace, with the occasional spats over pride here and there. Their king for the past 200 years has just recently passed and now the counsel must discuss who among the nobles would be best suited to rule next.
This is just a rundown on how the Dwarves live their lives but they will not have their own form section unless there are a decent amount of people that apply with dwarven characters.
Society:
Dwarfs live for up to 250 years if they die of natural causes.
Men and women are treated equally here. Both genders are trained to be courageous warriors to not only fight in wars but also for to participate in tournaments that bring added honor to their Caste Names. Pride is a huge problem for dwarfs and causes many skirmishes to break out. Sometimes these fights end in death and the offender is punished by death.
Royalty:
The king and his family live in the largest building that sits at the highest point in the city. He has two advisers that are voted on by the counsel. The king oversees the counsel meetings and is to maintain order in the kingdom. He also attends war council meetings along with his queen and battle master to discuss battle plans. The queen is in charge of maintain order in the castle and leading battles with the general. She needs to not only be intelligent to handle tricky politics but also be a strong warrior.
The Counsel:
The counsel is made up of 6 representatives from both the noble and middle castes. Each representative are allowed to hold their position for 20 years before new representatives are to be voted on. There are three representative from the noble caste and 3 from the middle caste. The king acts as the seventh counsel member and makes the final vote.
The Noble Castes:
They live in the upper parts of the city and are able to participate in the counsel meetings and cast votes. They receive the better materials for battles. Many in the castes look down on the lower castes that live in the slums of the city and refuse to interact with anyone known to have come from a lower caste. There are 5 major castes among the nobles and they are only allowed to voice their opinions in meeting and nominate others for any position of power. It is up to the rest of the castes to vote about these decisions. |
The Middle Castes:
The middle castes are typically merchants and provide day to day services. Dwarfs of the middle class have opportunities to work their way up to become one of the noble caste after the counsel votes and approves of the proposal. If the proposal is denied, they have to wait two years before they can bring it to the counsels attention again. |
The Casteless:
This caste lives in the slums of the city and mostly consists of thieves and the sickly. The living conditions here are atrocious and most join the local gangs just to make a living and survive the harsh reality of their lives. The lower castes aren't allowed to move up to the noble caste, but they do have very few opportunities to move up to the middle caste.
The Dwarven Gods:
There are 6 Dwarven Gods. They are all siblings and there are only 5 of them who helped in the creation and protection of the dwarfs.
- Bristel, The Mother of Stone (Muthai ve Clostei): Created the stone to help support the animals and plants her brother Ragar wanted to create. Later she used the stone to create an army called dwarfs, to seal the evil creations that their jealous sister, Danrial, created to cause chaos. The evil was sealed deep below the ground and the dwarfs created homes below the surface to act as a barrier between the surface and the dark creatures.
- Ragar, The Creator of Life (Fercruth ve Saoben): Creator of the animals and plants. Ragar is also responsible for blessing the new life born into the world. He watches over the infant creatures until they grow old enough to pass on the protection to his brother, Eamrik.
- Danrial, The Ruler of Misfortune (Herrial ve Ungpahunt): Watches over the dead and then guides them to the afterlife when they are ready to move on. Constantly, feeling bored and resenting her siblings for forcing this responsibility on her. Her jealousy grew and she created evil creatures, demons, to destroy life and wreak havoc.
- Altha, The Maker of Crafts (Fercruth ve Kunyot): He was also responsible for the creation of writing, healing and perfume. he cultivated many crafts, and taught the dwarfs many arts. Once they’d gotten the hang of that it was time for handwriting lessons.
- Eamrik, The Guardian (Ien Holchtnoir): Symbolizes protection, growth, knowledge, fertility, and creativity. He presides over marriages and birth, growing families, and he is the protector of heroes. Eamrik is described as a kind, forgiving and discreet god with a passive, non-confrontational nature.
- Edlioysia, Ruler of War (Herrial ve Kregah): She is revered for her wisdom, courage, law and justice, strategic warfare, strength, strategy, and skill. While Edlioysia is known to be a fierce and ruthless warrior, she could also be the first one to fight for protecting civilized life.
