What is Animus's?
Animus are spiritual beings that portray the person's inner self. The soul powers the body and thus has a form. This form appears as a guardian to walk with you in your life. Exhuming power that are more readily available to the owner after a specific age.
The makings of Animus
At birth, any creature that is born with a strong enough mana pool is granted a Animus. It's more common in the Fey folk, an elvish looking people with pointed ears.
Humans also have Animus, but royals usually have a gene pool that allows for stronger mana because of their rules of marriage. There are few non-royals that possess a good pool of mana, but they come less frequent.
Non-humans as in goblins, dwarves, and other humanoids have them less so. Rarer then the unroyal humans.
Animals have no Animus.
Any other unknown creatures that possess an animus has not been documented.
The cycle of the Animus
When a person of exceptional mana is born, an Animus is not yet existent on the outside and will not start appearing until the age of five. At that age, they're normally only an orb. The more transparent they are the weaker they will be, the more visual represents a stronger Animus.
At the age of fifteen, the Animus will have already started to take a shape and will grow rapidly until they take a full shape at eighteen when the person is more knowledgeable of themselves. After twenty-one, the Animus still grows, but is less noticeable over the years.
When the holder has reached the last year's, the Animus begins to fade back within the body to die with the holder as a whole.
Animus personality
The Animus can have a slightly different conscious of the holder, but they never are so contrasted.
As far as communication, 95% of the time they only speak to their holder telepathically. Rarely do they speak to anyone else. It is more common in marriages for them to speak to the spouse, but its mostly done with the children of that marriage.
If spoken to from a higher Animus (as in the emperor's Animus), they may respond telepathically even still. This however, is only a hypothesis and has not been proven.
Forms of the Animus
Animus take on many forms. They aren't specific to any one creature or thing. They are only reliant on the holder's mana/soul. Their attacks mostly rely on the person's truest personality or more specifically, their wavelength.
There are times when animus can change depending on fighting style or traveling forms.
Their sizes vary on the amount of mana willfully channeled to them as well as how solid they can become. -
The spectrum of Animus's!
There are many types of Animus all over the world. However, there are some influences that bring out features of the Animus. An example would be that in the snowest regions, an animus can seem to hold more fur as the holder is surrounded with the cold climate and chilly air. Warmth would be a pleasure. -

What is an artifact?
Let's begin with where they came from.
An artifact is an item of an old civilization and an even older practice. A culture in a war heavy world. When a person of royalty betrayed the family or acted in a way that the family deemed them unworthy and a nuisance, they would use a contraption to separate an animus from its holder.
It blueprints were lost, but it is thought that once the holder was sentenced secretly, the process would begin with the poisoning of the holder with a substance lost in today's time. It would bring the Animus to the point of nearly leaving the body and using special herbs and the contraption, would split the two. The Animus, if it was too strong to dispose off or fade, would be infused with an item.
Now, what an artifact is would be a item of a trapped soul. If someone so lucky would possess one, they would find it did one of two things.
Enhancment of the Anumis-
The artifact adds to the power of the Animus and it allows it to do things that it alone cannot. An example would be an Animus of a wavelength that focuses on electricity. The artifact would add to it, and depending on the infused soul (we will say wind), could potentially make the ability from static to static + wind= A thunderstorm/thundertornado/staticterrain....the possibilities are endless.
If both wavelengths are the same however, (wind + wind) one could cause significant damage. This would become a multiplier. It will make normal abilities even stronger. Someone with a wind bender could normally hover over the ground, walk on water, float objects. A multiplied form of that would let the holder actually fly, make wind weapons from thin air, wind bullets...
An Animus absorber-
This allows the Animus to infuse with the object. These tend to be swords, bows and handheld artifacts. This does the same as the multiplying artifact, but does not change the holder's abilities as it does the weapon instead.
