It has been one year since Dawn and Lucas set off on their quest to become the Champions of the Sinnoh Region. After Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf were freed from the hands of Team Galactic, Dawn and Lucas soon found out the true intentions of their leader, Cyrus. A battle that would determine fate was soon held on top of Spear Pillar, with Dawn, Lucas, Cynthia, and Cyrus at the center of everything. Due to the Red Chain that Cyrus possessed, he had Palkia and Dialga under his control, making him a force to be reckoned with. Cynthia instructed Dawn and Lucas to defeat Cyrus and destroy the chain while she held off the two legendary Pokémon. However, with the two legendaries working together, her Pokémon began to get overwhelmed. Thankfully, Giratina showed up and helped fend off the legendary Pokémon.
The group was successful at defeating Cyrus, and destroying the Red Chain that was in his possession, freeing the two legendaries from his control. However, before Cyrus could be dragged to the Distortion World by Giratina for his crimes, he was able to make his escape thanks to his commanders coming in and aiding him. However, with his defeat, he disbanded the team permanently, and they were not seen or heard from again. Dawn and Lucas continued with their quest and eventually they both defeated the Champion Cynthia, winning their place in the Hall of Fame. They both decided to stay in the Sinnoh region, becoming very close friends with Cynthia. At her request, Dawn and Lucas traveled the region giving advice to new trainers, while their true purpose was to patrol the land to make sure no new evil arises.
Two years and 8 months have passed since then, and events that were set in motion years ago are starting to unfold. During the time Dawn and Lucas spent on their patrols, they eventually grew very close to each other and began dating each other. During one of their patrols, they found something that made them cringe in the snowy forests outside of Snowpoint City. Lucas instantly called Cynthia and told her their location, informing her to come immediately. After Lucas hung up though, both of them lost the contents of their stomachs. Cynthia arrived within the hour to the specified location, only to find Lucas comforting a crying Dawn. Lucas pointed in a direction, to which Cynthia nodded and left him to tend to Dawn.
She was surprised at how easily Dawn was crying, the normally strong willed girl that fought her all those years ago. What could have caused this? As she pondered this, she began to smell a strange stench that began to overpower any other smell in the area. When her foot ran into something that was mostly covered by snow, she summoned her Togekiss and whipped up a strong enough wind to uncover the objects. Her Togekiss retreated to her Poké Ball upon seeing the sight, while Cynthia was barely able to keep the contents of her stomach down. There, in the snow, lie Cyrus and his Pokémon, dead. They had all been murdered, and because of the continuous snowfall and the cold environment, it was going to be nearly impossible to tell how long he had been dead.
It didn't take long for her to figure out a few things about the murderer. The first thing is that the person was very powerful. To be able to murder the former leader of an organization that threatened the world was no easy feat. From what she could see, there was little to no damage to the surrounding area, not to mention a complete lack of blood on any of the trees or surrounding snow. Even when she dug around the bodies a bit, she found no sign of red stained snow anywhere. This lead her to her second conclusion, the person was very quick and very accurate.
She then realized that the murderer must have chosen this area to be able to not only cover their tracks, but to also hide the bodies due to the continuous snowfall. Not to mention the environment was a perfect choice to hide the signs of rigor mortis, which meant that they were dealing with someone who was at the very least smart enough to plan this out. Though given what she already knew, the person was probably extremely intelligent. Her final and most obvious conclusion was that the murderer had very evil intentions and could easily track someone who had virtually vanished from Sinnoh, which bothered her greatly. With all things considered, she was not surprised it took them this long to find the body, since it was also quite a ways off any known route.
Cynthia returned behind Lucas and a calmed down Dawn, who was now sniffling, but for the most part had recomposed herself. She put her hands on the shoulders of both of them, and they both jumped in surprise. When they turned to see who it was, they were met with the serene smile of the Champion. They both smiled back at Cynthia, and while they all appreciated the gesture, they all knew that the smiles were forced. Cynthia invited them to come back to the Elite Four as special guests to take a rest, to which they graciously thanked Cynthia for. Before they left, Cynthia, Dawn, and Lucas returned to Snowpoint City and informed the police officer's there about the site, but to keep it quite so not to cause panic. As they left, they noticed a group of trainers arriving in the city, taking in the sights of the beautiful snow covered city, unaware of what lie just outside the city.
After they brought out their flying Pokémon, they took to the skies and headed to the Elite Four. As they headed towards the Elite Four, they noticed something very odd about the towns and routes they passed over, there was not a single person in sight. They each thought it was odd, but it was in the very early hours of the morning, so they might all be asleep.
"Hey Cynthia, why haven't we seen a single person outside?" Asked Lucas.
"Yeah! I mean, I understand it's the early hours of the morning, but Lucas and I have always come across at least one person..." Stated Dawn, raising a valid point.
"I was wondering that myself too. We should hurry back to the Eli-"

Cynthia was startled by her phone going off. Who was calling her at this time of day?
"Hello? Oh, hi Flint. Why are you-what?....Flint, calm down! What's going on?....Volkner?.......WHAT!?! Is he alright!?...Where is his Raichu now?...Flint, calm down! I'll be right there! I'm bringing Lucas and Dawn with-Flint? FLINT!?!?"
Cynthia hung up and put her phone away. The line had gone silent on the other end.
There was a brief moment of silence before Cynthia spoke up again, "We need to move...NOW! Come on Togekiss!" Her Pokémon quickly understanding the sense of urgency, began flying as fast as it could.
"Salamence, you heard her." Lucas's Salamence nodded in acknowledgement, picking up the pace.
"You too, Staraptor!" Exclaimed Dawn, her Staraptor beginning to fly faster, quickly catching up to both Cynthia and Lucas.
After the Dawn caught up to Lucas and Cynthia, they continued to fly in silence for a few minutes. She felt uncomfortable in this eerie quiet, and was about to ask Cynthia a question, when Lucas asked it for her.
"Cynthia, what's going on?"
"The Elite Four is under attack."
"WHAT!?! How is tha-"
"I don't know! Flint said a mysterious robed figure showed up with a large group of people, most likely followers, and began attacking the place."
Dawn thought about this for a moment, "Is it possible the mysterious person is the one who killed Cyrus and the followers are Team Galactic?"
Cynthia pondered this for a few moments, "There is a possibility for the mysterious person Flint mentioned to be our murderer, but he mentioned that the followers were too strong to be Team Galactic."
"Then do we know who the new th-" Lucas was cut off before he could finish his sentence. Three Ice Beams came out of the forest on Route 210. One was targeted at each of them, with both Staraptor and Togekiss barely dodging the beam. Unfortunately, the last one struck Salamence head on, who was unable to dodge in time. Salamence was frozen instantly and began plummeting to the ground, with Lucas frozen along with him.
"LUCAS!!!!!!!" Screamed Dawn, watching as her boyfriend fell to the ground, frozen. "WE HAVE TO SAVE HIM CYNTHIA!!!"
Thinking quickly, Cynthia threw a Full Restore at the frozen Salamence and Lucas, watching as it broke upon impact with the ice block, healing them. Unfortunately, both Dawn and Cynthia were too distracted with them to notice two more Ice Beams come out from below them, both beams striking their targets.
"NO!" Exclaimed the two girls in unison. While it knocked both Staraptor and Togekiss out in one hit, it did not freeze them, which was a small relief.
Dawn crashed next to Lucas, while Cynthia landed not that far from them. She quickly recovered and returned her Togekiss to her Poké Ball, not sure how she was taken down so easily. It was at this point that her worst fear came true, as she witnessed several lightning strikes come down exactly where the two had crashed. She was frozen with fear, hoping by some chance that they both would be all right. That small chance was quickly extinguished when the area was lit ablaze with a roaring fire. It was at this point that she was unable to hold the contents of her stomach down any longer, and began crying uncontrollably at the loss of her close friends. However, she would not be given a chance to grieve over her friends as she noticed she was surrounded by Pokémon. She was unable to clearly make out what Pokémon were around her due to the tears streaming down her face, but what she did see was several balls of light all around her, growing in brightness. By the time she realized what they were, they all unleashed a Hyper Beam directly at her.
Four months have passed since the death of Lucas and Dawn, along with Cynthia, who is presumed to have been vaporized in the resulting explosion. All that was recovered was her Poké Ball's, which were found scorched and broken in the surrounding area. It's unknown how many people and Pokémon alike either died or went missing that night, with Professor Rowen and the Gym Leaders among the missing. Aaron, Bertha, Flint, and Lucian fought fiercely to protect the Elite Four on that fateful night, though they were easily overpowered and subsequently killed when the leader of the group appeared. Not long after the Elite Four was destroyed did the gyms in each town follow suit, being torn down by the same group. The group responsible for this, simply calling themselves The Harbingers, took over and reshaped the entire region within one night. By the time anyone even knew what was happening, it was too late to stop it.
All that is known about the group is their name, with the group managing to keep to the shadows and keep all information about themselves a secret. The legendary Pokémon have completely vanished, leaving no trace of where they went behind. Most towns are in disorder, with the police force of each town being either captured or killed. With no police, crimes have risen exponentially in each town, with the larger cities and ports being high in crime. The Harbingers have also set up a few, but very strict rules for the Sinnoh region, which can be found posted on flyers around each town.
The flyers read as follows:
1. Every citizen is free to do whatever they want as long as they follow the rules below.
2. In the event that you lie, resist, or disobey any member of The Harbingers, you will be knocked unconscious and taken away or killed on the spot without question.
3. If you are a Pokémon Breeder, you must be registered with The Harbingers. Pokémon Breeders must submit any eggs his Pokémon made to a member of The Harbingers that comes to collect it. We will keep very close tabs on you to make sure that you do not lie about any eggs. Refer to Rule 2 for punishment.
4. If you wish to become a Pokémon Trainer, you MUST join The Harbingers first and prove your loyalty to us. If you do not comply with this, you will suffer severe consequences.
5. Any illegal Pokémon Trainers or Breeders(those not with The Harbingers) will be hunted down and beaten into submission, after which you will be taken away if you are not already dead.

We start our main story on Route 218, where a young girl, no older than 10, sits down behind a tree right outside of Canalave City. She looks like she had been traveling for a while, her shoulder length sapphire blue hair had several small leaves and twigs stuck in it. Her face was covered with dirt, with a small scar running across her nose and a cut going down her left cheek. Her clothes are in no better condition, her green t-shirt has started tearing in several places and her blue pants have started to rip apart at the bottom of the legs. Her coat, however, is in near perfect condition, with it being wrapped around an object that she was making sure to keep close to her body.
"Someone...please......help.........me............" said the young girl, as her emerald green eyes began to shut, the last of her strength visibly fading from them. As she falls over on her side, unconscious, her coat falls out of her arms, revealing a Pokémon egg.
