This list is usable by all players to understand and use wounds and such in their roleplays. However, only former and current medicine cats and their apprentices can know cures and treatments-other cats knowing this information is considered metagaming and is against the rules.
Diseases and Conditions
Whitecough and Greencough
-caught during leaf-fall and leaf-bare
-highly contagious, fatal for kits and elders
-starts as whitecough and develops into greencough
-treated with Catmint
Poisoning
-caused by poisonous berries, inhaling smoke, eating poisoned/rotten prey, being bitten by venomous animals
-causes bellyaches in low doses (can be cured with yarrow, nettle leaves, juniper, watermint)
-can be fatal in high doses
Infections
-caused by open wounds and rat bites
-treated with burdock, chervil or horsetail
Joint Aches
-caused by aging;common in elders
-treated with daisy or ragwort poultice
Toothache
-caused by cavities, cracked or broken teeth, infections
-treated with alder bark
Fever
-symptoms of greencough or infections
-treated with feverfew, borage or lavender
Chills/Hypothermia
-caused by cold weather/conditions
-can be fatal, especially for kits and elders
-treated by licking fur the opposite way, and a poultice of lavender, catmint, and feverfew
Injuries
Wounds
-can be fatal due to blood loss, infections, or loss of vital organs, depends on severity
-most wounds heal naturally, but can be treated by licking it clean, stopping blood loss using cobweb/moss, and a poultice of goldenrod, marigold and burdock root to prevent infections
-large, untreated wounds are usually fatal
-pain can be eased with poppy seeds or willow bark
Sprains
-caused by stretching a limb beyond normal capacity
-causes severe pain
-treated by resting for several days
Dislocation
-when a bone moves out of place
-treated by drugging the victim with poppy seeds, and then forcing the bone back in place; incredibly painful
Cracked Pads
-caused by walking long distances, on hard surfaces, cold weather
-treated with a poultice of coltsfoot or yarrow.
-Dock leaf poultices are also used to sooth aching
Broken Bones
-caused by falling from a high place, hit by a car
-not able to be treated, often results in the cat remaining crippled
-if the spine is broken, it is almost always fatal
