Introduction

  • "I'd like to see the world one day. All of it. I don't care about borders." - Harada Mei
  • Technology

Human society has advanced through two main means: cybernetics and genetics. Through the use of genetics technology, designer babies have made up the past few generations, filtering out various defects and improving the standard of physical health and natural figure. Through cybernetics, those babies later grow up to enhance themselves further with artificial cornea implants, neural implants, various mechanical structures and artificial organs made to improve the body's performance- prosthetics have become less of a necessity for amputees, and more a method of self-expression in the form of body modification. This same technology has gone on to allow the development of synthetic servants both in the civilian industry in factories and storefronts, and in the military, serving to reduce the numbers of human lives lost to war.
  • State of the World

With infant mortality rates down and lack of disease, mankind is flourishing. However, the industry of synthetics and cybernetics has put a whole second wave of resource stress on the world. With globalization and foreign relations dissolving lines and solidifying cultural regions, the nations have used their national focuses to form new boundaries. The UN has been split into competitions, between the American United Front, European Union Revision, Northern Eurasian Independence Territories, Eastern Trade Alliance, and the Central Effort.

These regions united for the purpose of further technological advancements specifically in space exploration and colonization efforts. Small outposts have been made on Mars, the moon, and a few satellite settlements. However, the various nations are racing to expand proper self-sustaining, longterm colonies comparable to some of the larger cities, to start moving people off-world, and start working toward new homes. To leave the current behind, drained of all its metallic resources.
  • The Moral Conflict

In trying to make smarter, and more capable people, as well as to reduce the use of resources, the various governments have agreed within themselves to list criteria of 'Undesirables'. These people are removed from the general population and turned into platforms for experimentation. The various regions are more lenient or have different criteria. America for one eliminated the lowest financial class and replaced them with synths. The experiments are more humane and on the order of cybernetics and biological modifications for the sake of bettering quality of life. Not much productivity. On the other hand, Russia uses anything from disabilities such as muteness, or the like to homosexuality which had never been legalized.

The general populations are too engaged in their perfect lives to really note this. In areas where this is more prevalent such as the NEIT (Northern Eurasian Independence Territories), families and close loved ones tend to overlook these disappearances and arrests as deserved due to the law and ingrained culture.
