Hello Quest Connection,
I'm Jesse, a 44 year old roleplayer and GM and I have an idea for a possible game to run.
System: 5E D&D
World: Homebrew
Premise:
Thirteen years ago, the otherwise fairly typical European style medieval fantasy world suffered a dramatic calamity that changed the very nature of reality. At the same time, all across the world, every single being capable of channeling divine spells spontaneously combusted, exploding into a globe of scouring divine radiance. The power and size of the blast was related to just how many and how powerful the spells were the caster could channel. Some Acolytes, Paladins, and the like were able to survive the blasts, albeit with horrific scarring. Cities with high priests were wiped off the map, leaving behind shattered ruins and charred bodies. One blast was so large, it destroyed an entire kingdom.
Since that time, no creature has been able to call upon divine abilities of any sort.
Recently, your characters have begun having unusual dreams, dreams that have begun to bleed into reality. There is a young woman in your dreams who, despite having eyes as white as the moon, seems to see you. She beckons and something within you burns.
The Game:
13 years after a divine apocalypse, people around the world begin to discover divine sparks growing within them. These fledgling demigods need to discover what that divine spark means for them, and the world as a whole.
The PCs would begin by meeting one another, having been pulled together by the Demigod of Dreams. She'd offer to help the PCs, guiding them toward challenges that will help them unlock their abilities and perhaps make the world a better place.
5th level PCs. No characters with divine abilities. The calamity was 13 years ago, you could easily have been a divine caster of some sort who 'burned', and now has a different career/class. Standard point buy, standard hit points. I'm open to third party content, although I'll want to review and sign off on it first.
After your character has been reviewed and signed off on, we'll collaborate on your divine domain. Every PC will be a Demigod of 'Something'. Your divine spark will give you abilities. Those abilities become more potent as you level up.
I don't worry much about PC alignment. People are complicated. There are objective ethical forces in the universe, but a Lawful Good character can still lose their shit or hold prejudices. A Chaotic Evil Character could still love their family. What I will say is this is a D&D group campaign, so your characters will need reasons to be a good team player. No backstabbing each other. Something that will become critical as more about the metaphysics of the Divine Sparks are understood.
Various Inspirations: Godsfall, Greek Mythology, Eberron, Highlander
Anyhoo, that's me and my idea. Feel free to ask questions about either.

Yes, please. c:
(I'd be interested but I won't be able to make a character before the 4th of February.)

Hello Corinthi, and welcome to the Quest Connection!
I love how much detail you've provided in your campaign idea and I could certainly see several folk being interested in it. I invite you to go ahead and join the group so that you can peruse the forums and see how we usually play (not that we expect everyone to do the same, but it'll give you a clearer picture). Once you've joined you'll also have access to the discord server where you can easily meet the other GMs and all the players.
- Your friendly, neighbourhood Anne

Welcome Corinthi! I am so glad you are well and have joined and oh my gosh it has been forever! I look forward to joining another of your adventures.
Greetings and well met! My focus lays almost exclusively with Pathfinder so if you ever venture there let me know, in the meantime good luck with your campaigns!
Welcome Welcome!
That is quite an intriguing idea, love the details and nuances you've already laid out. I may be interested, will have to consider it.

No rush, GamerWoona.
It'll take at least that long to find interested parties and start laying the groundwork.
Thanks for the welcome, folks.
