The Inlet
The Inlet is the main point of entry onto the Island. While there are various piers around Fenikso, this is the one-stop ferry shop. That is to say, the ferry departs and arrives right here! When you step off the ferry you'll find ample parking (or, if you're hopping on but don't need your car that's the place to leave it!) and find the welcome center. A simple little shack where you can purchase tickets, get maps, and go. The Inlet has a simple, cheap motel off to one side and a mid-range hotel on the other, for those that don't want to stay within Fire Valley. Wide open hills and fields make for beautiful scenery to look at while you wait for your ferry, or to take in during your first visit.
Fire Valley
Fire Valley is the center of city life on Fenikso Isle. While it's got nothing on New York City or any of the other big boys like that, it's definitely thriving. There's a good mixture of that 'small town' feeling along the outer edges, but the further in you get the more lively and congested things get. Fire Valley is home to most businesses on the Island, with a few central night-life hot spots. Located near the center of Fenikso, it's also constantly a middle ground during travel all over the Isle, catering to tourists and locals alike. This is also home of Fenikso University, an expanding (but small) college.
Phantom Forest
Justly named for the roaming spirits within, Phantom Forest is located to the west of Fire Valley, touching the city limits and curling its way around a graveyard that was long ago abandoned. Whether or not the forest is dangerous seems to be constantly up for debate; most will tell you the spirits there are harmless, but they've been known to lead people astray for hours and play tricks. Most of the teens on the Island have been there at least once, as it's prime location for that spooky date or daring your best buddy to go do something stupid. Occasionally, supernatural residents will be buried here at their request, under the assumption that their spirit will be able to linger and wander in the afterlife.
Witches Wick
Witches Wick is known as the second most concentrated magical source on the Island. For generations, magical folk have ventured into the woods to practice their craft and perform rituals. The forest draws additional power from Mt. Felix, which is the true source of power and life on Fenikso. Every year all magical folk gather together in the Wick for a festival in celebration of the Island and the sacrifices that have been made for it. At the end of the festival, a special ceremony is held in which residents offer their magic to the Island to strengthen protections, encourage life, and take some of the weight off of the Island's cores.
Mt Felix
The peak of Mt. Felix is the central point of power for the Island. Here, Metrodora and Agni made their sacrifice and gave themselves to the Island as it's core. The twin cores alongside the main core also rest here, and a sacrificial ritual takes place here when they need to be replaced. When the cores are active, the peak is incredibly hot. It is said that only a Phoenix may endure the temperatures. When the cores are dying out, the area becomes cooler and seemingly humming with power. The Phoenix who live ont he Island routinely check the area and pay homage to their ancestors, and are the first to know if the cores have begun to die out.
Twin Peaks
Two sorcerers fleeing prosecution settled here long ago. In time, twins were born to them. The twins were so powerful that when they both uttered their first cries, the land was thrown upwards by them, forming the Twin Peaks. It's probably just a legend, but the beautiful view of the bay from the peak certainly feels magical! Many of the young folks of the Island escape up here to watch the stars, have a bonfire, and occasionally get up to no good.
Widow's Point
Widow's point is a secluded beach area situated in Gemini Cove that has become a central point for those in mourning to spread their loved ones ashes. It's said that when the hunters were first driven off the Island, this is the point where the first Phoenix Keeper, Eliana, brought her husbands ashes when the battle was won. It's said that if you spread the ashes here to join his, your loved one will return to the Island as a bird, free and happy, ready to take on their next adventure.
Metrodora's Meadow
The meadow is the largest source of Fenikso Isle's Metrodora flower. These flowers bloom throughout the year, but the highest concentration takes place in late Fall/early Winter. The river in the meadow often takes on a red tint from the petals that blow into it, and you'd be surprised to find that the water is warm despite the temperature outside. This is not a natural hot spring; the water runs in from the ocean, but the magic of the Metrodora flower seems to have interesting effects on a lot of things that it comes into contact with. It's used in medicine, Island recipes, and sometimes even dye and paint! Metrodora's Meadow is a great location for a picnic, be it romantic or familial, with the hills overlooking the massive flower fields.
Gem Point
A little more rural than the bustle of Fire Valley, Gem Point is located near the Islands family beach! It started as a boardwalk with some small businesses there to keep beachgoers comfortable, and expanded into having restaurants, tourist shopping, and single family homes on the outer edges. Gem Point is a little quieter, a little cozier, but the nights can definitely get a little wild at the few nightclubs and dive bars!
Nesting Grounds
The nesting grounds are an outcropping of rocks that are impossible to get to if you do not fly. When the Island became more than just the Phoenix species, Metrodora made this the roost so that it would be harder to reach her kin and put them in danger. A small village of the current Phoenix residents resides on the tall outcropping, watching over their home.
