On Runiaka’s 10th birthday after her party…..
Runiaka was looking through some maps with her grandfather and was listening to him tell about various places hidden in the world when he was 10. Then they would 'play explorers' and went to find the hidden place such as Atlantis or Fountain of Youth.
They were very close and had a great many fun times- even when Grandfather could no longer walk very much and tired easily.
Twelve years later…….
Grandfather was getting old and drifting off to sleep often in the nursing home. Runiaka still visited him at least every week and they talked over the old times for he often drifted back to 12 years before when she was 10.
One day when Grandfather was more lucid than normal, he spoke to Runiaka as she was an adult,
"Runiaka, listen to me closely. I know that I drift off many times and often times go back to when you were ten. I am lucid at the moment and I want to tell you something important. Just listen and do as you are told." he spoke in a low voice.
Runiaka simply nodded and listened carefully.
"Go to the drawer and get me my keys. There is a key that I want you to have. It is yours and mine. Remember when you were 18, you helped me store a few things in a rental shed? The rental people want it out. Go get it. It is yours but keep it well hidden. The others will want to sell them. You know what I mean. Keep them safe and pass them to your little ones. I can trust you to do this for me, right?" Grandfather asked as he picked out a key.
"Take it off and keep it. Move the stuff somewhere safe but not your apartment. They will come looking for it. Please for the memory of me and our fun times."
Runiaka took the key off the ring and put it on hers for the time being.
"I will soon be gone and then the vultures will descend on my things." he spoke as he pointed to the drawer and Runiaka leaned forward and put the keys back.
"You are the only one who visits me on a regular basis. Others might come once a month maybe. I can look at the calendar and know when you will be here. I am tired now so please leave me. I love you more than anyone else. Take care of yourself, Runiaka." her Grandfather spoke wearily.
"Ok Grandfather, I'll leave now. I'll be back again soon. I love you very dearly." Runiaka spoke as she got up and kissed his leathery cheek.
Several weeks later……
Runiaka was sitting in a corner of large conference room where the family gathered after the funeral of Grandfather. Everyone was speaking in low tones and wondered what was left of his belongings now that he was gone. The lawyer came in and everyone sat down.
“I will be brief for he wanted it so. In fact, just over twelve years ago, he made this last will out and a short video for you to watch.” The lawyer spoke to no one in particular.
The video started with Grandfather in his great library.

My Last Will and Testament
Good day to each of you. I am sure that everyone is here for my wealth. Almost all of you are vultures. So let’s get down to business.
To my two sons, Richard and Robert, both of you asked me to fund your respective business. It was a large sum and that is your inheritance. You have been given more than what you are worth and will leave your prosperous business to your own children who need nothing from me. Not that they even care about me except for the monetary value of my estate.
To my daughter, Candice, you have been given several large houses for yourself and your older children. I feel that is enough for the three of you.
I am nearly out of money because those who I have mentioned above. I see no need to give any more to any of you. However, I have a final check for each of you in the sum of $10,000 each. Enjoy your money.
Now we come to my youngest granddaughter, Runiaka. She has been my comfort and the most faithful of all. I give to her my home and all that is in there. It may be run down by the time she gets this home but I am sure that she will enjoy it more than anyone else. Enjoy it, my daughter. Yes, you are truly my daughter for I had an affair and you were the end result. Candice accepted you as her daughter very reluctantly. She was well paid for the services she did provide. I made sure that you had everything that you needed and some of your wants.
That sums it up and I am tired. I shall soon be put in a nursing home if my older children had their way and the lawyer knows this. He will take care of all of my bills to my death since he has the POA. Then the rest of you can be satisfied of seeing the will in it’s entirety.

This is where it items are stored and a bit of money that is left is for you to travel to the address. I am sorry that is all that is left of your inheritance but I am sure that you would rather have your Grandfather back than to have the last of his possessions.” The lawyer spoke as he handed the envelope to her.
“That is all I have to say. You may leave.”
Her cousins did their usual stick their tongues out at her as if they were grade school brats. Runiaka did not even notice what they did as she tucked the envelope into her purse without even opening it.
Runiaka drove to the local bank and went inside to make out the deposit slip when she saw the amount on the check. It was a certified check from the same bank and she nearly fainted. It was dated this morning for $250,000. She had another key inside and she went to the teller who asked her to wait in an office.
She sat there nervously until the bank manager came in to verify the check and that the key was a key to a vault in the bank. She placed most of the money in her account then the rest in the savings. She felt freer than before and yet she still wished that Grandfather was there with her……. She went home to rest and think on her good fortune.
The next week the lawyer and Runiaka went to talk to the Board Members of The Meeting of the Minds. After the business was done, Runiaka left town to find out what was left for her to find in a vault in another state.
