History to Present

In the beginning, the Wildmother blessed the world with her four daughters: Lelrefri, Imneluna, Yllvashara, and Pomedosa. To see the world bloom with beautiful life, she bound each daughter to one of the world’s four corners, granting them a single landmass to pain upon as their canvas.

Lelrefri designed Vianden, and within it she made the humans. Vibrant greens and lush fields made up the entirety of the continent, and she taught her children how to farm the land. Her humans, as she called them, were excellent tillers, creative barterers, and brave adventurers. She was impressed by their creativity and sense of loyalty to one another and to her, though with it came an aggressive need to conquer, explore, and claim. She decorated Vianden with snowy mountains and evergreen forests, and blessed it with moderate temperatures in both the winter and summer months, though the northern portion sees more snow. She loved the rainy season most of all, and because of it, there seem to be more shower-filled days in many areas of Vianden than not.

When Imneluna crafted Mvsaserine, she did so with a love of hills and trees all along the landscape. Her children, the Elven kindred, were blessed with heightened intelligence and a lifespan that far surpasses that of humans and rivals the fae--but she believed their love and never ending quest for knowledge deserved to be shared with the world. This, of course, lead to a small superiority complex which, over the years, has mellowed out significantly but is still present today. With a love for color, Imneluna blessed Mvaserine with distinct and vibrant seasons comprised of the Equinoxes and the Solstices. In the Vernal and Autumnal Equinox, during which the temperatures are reasonably comfortable though cooler in the former. The Vernal Equinox is full of vibrant greenery and abundant flower lasting throughout the following Summer Solstice, which is far less moderate in temperature. At the resolution of the Summer season, the greenery begins to dull and die off to give way for a darker, richer greenery to emerge for the duration of the Autumnal Equinox. Ice is more common than snow here during the Winter Solstice.

Yllvashara, the mischievous goddess that she is, designed the fae to be just so. But her children could not be everything in one as she desired, so they were split into two: the kinder, but still mischievous, Seelies, and the far more mischievous and trying Unseelies. This resulted in Callela needing to similarly be split into two separate, though still connected (by way of a magick-constructed bridge), landmasses for the race to reasonably coexist. The Fae utilized their magick to ferry boats and airships for those less capable of magick or other means of travel, and they love to meddle in the affairs of the other continents. Callela is the most magickally-inclined of the four continents, and it seems to live and breathe all on its own. Trees, flowers, grass, mountains, and even the fae-homes are washed predominantly in bright pinks, oranges, yellows, reds, and purples with only a hint of cooler tones layered throughout. These beautiful colors seem to rain down as leaves continuously fall from the trees… even where trees do not exist. For the most part, year-round temperature is moderate, but there are a few months during winter that get cold--more so in the lower halves of the continent than the north.

Finally, Pomedosa and her love of fauna, breathed life into Yrineglen with her appropriately named children, the Faunfolk. Comprised predominantly of Fauns, Satyrs, Dryads, and Centaurs, the continent has many species of feral animals, vast cliffs, and rolling hills. Tall trees and leafy bushes dot the entirety of the continent, with long beaches and painted predominantly in greens, oranges, reds, and yellows. It is the only continent that seems to consist of only Spring and Summer, though some southern points and the mountain ranges may see snow in small quantities. With longer lifespans than humans, but shorter than Fae and Elves, the Faunfolk are a populus group of hunters and leatherworkers.

Humans/Elves and Fae do not generally see eye-to-eye, in no small part thanks to the Fae’s mischievous nature and law, but there are numerous Fae that live among the humans within Vianden. Their wings are often bound by wraps beneath their clothes to allow them to properly fit in amongst human/elven society.
