Overview:
Thick forests and tree-lined mountains make up the expanse of land that is Vianden. The human dominated continent is a vast and beautiful place, known for beautiful stone-work buildings and Elven architecture mixed with human influence. Situated as the Northwestern most continent, temperatures more often range a little warmer than average, and around the coast, the humidity is fairly high. The southern cities of Buxnoque and Vrey are influential port cities and well-known hangouts for all walks of life for any species or social class.
Government:
Predominantly Monarchical in design; however, some cities operate independently of the Crown even though they fall within the King’s jurisdiction. While he has advisors and a noble court, his word is absolute. The current King runs his Kingdom from the Capital City of Midhold, and is stricken with the need for power, though he has yet to produce an heir. There is a small rebel group gaining momentum with the intent to overthrow the King and replace him, though it is still in its beginning stages.
Continent Lore:
Vianden was once overtaken by the Fair Folk of Callela by way of Magickal influence, and for a brief period in history renamed (or referred to as) Olvemel. Those of humankind were able to retake their continent after a decade of uncertain captivity. This is the most significant, but certainly not the only, cause of the rift between Vianden and Callela. There is still fae-presence within Vianden today, though these individuals can manage to blend in with the humans. Some for peaceful reasons, and others for malicious intent.

Cultural Norms
Human children are typically given three names at birth: first, middle, family name. Family names can be reminiscent of where they grew up or what the family does, but this is not a hard and fast rule.
Magick
Some humans are capable of being magickborne.
Humans borne with magickal abilities are not expected to attend one of the two Academies for Magus training, though it is encouraged.
Once training is complete, these Humans are expected to pass the Exam of Spellworking at the Beakerry Institute in Idophis, graded by the Educational Board of Magick instructors.
Humans with magick abilities typically come from families where one or both parent is also magickborne; however, this is not always the case.
Religion
Perhaps the most heavily debated topic within Vianden's borders, religion is widely varied. If polled, a larger portion of the population would likely mark itself as agnostic. Likewise, there are also sects within the continent that are wholly devoted to the Wildmother and her Three.
