Wednesday evening, all the birds all over the island began trying to make their way OFF. Many, picking a poor direction or not being good at over-sea flights, end up forced back to the shores, leaving the very edges of the island occupied with their silent vigil. The rest of the jungle remains silent for now. Is something happening?
[This is the start of a new plot launching in Nasmara. We're looking for four to five players to be involved. If you want your character to be in the eventual away-team party, get into the dream and start having your characters involve themselves!]

- And then, abruptly, without warning, a massive wall of energy struck everyone and everything on the island. It did not make a sound; it did not push air as it moved, but in its wake, seconds after it radiates out in great concurrent circles from its source, a sound did begin. Creaking. Wooshing. Rattling. Clattering. Snapping. Roaring! Outside, every plant that lay dead in its bed explodes back to life in an upward orgasm of energy. Every tree unbends and every twig shoots out new leaves. Every seed left exposed to the energy sprouts. Every dying bird, beast, bug and bogie touched by the wall of expanding energy revitalizes. The dragons, startled and exultant, take wing to shriek and cavort above the new canopy, happily burning out new seconds for themselves on the north west shores.
Through the wind that rapidly follows this riot of life and change comes a caking green pollen, glittering and glistening. Through it, glimpsed all over the island, the figure of a woman dances gleefully, pirouetting in child-like joy. When the wind that spreads the pollen into windows, onto roofs and into the cracks under doors finally subsides, a breeze carries more softly, depositing large tufted seeds through the island. Wherever this pollen is allowed to rest, mosses and mushrooms and molds grow. The potato people, all but extinct during this crisis, start to come out of hiding and blink their wilting flowers up, growing more and more animated as the evening wears on.

The second away-party is home. With a few bearing injuries both physical and emotional, it was not an easy trip. Nothing like the 'special collector's island' that they planned on going to, the party found themselves in an over-run courtyard surrounding a dead body. When the nearby locals turned out to be ultra-paranoid vampires, however, bad went to worse and many deaths were wrought.
Too, the 'pollen' they thought that they were going to get was too few and too weak to revitalize the whole of Dandria's Rest. The adult forest phoenix, not a beauty, but a horror, was now dead as well, leaving just one tiny chick behind.
What are they to do now?
[Loot that was picked up but not distributed to individuals will be made available for the celebration after the reveal. Full group attendance is not ~required~ for the reveal of the solution to Nasmara's problems, but recommended and applies to Lockout-Voucher credit. The time and date for the reveal and celebrations will be set, and the time will be published when it is determined.] -
After a conference of the Triumverate, Lord Loa has been elected to head the second away team to the Isle of Pagos, where Mr. Gala has been rumoured as having access to the pollen of the magical bird Merin learned about. After having waited a week for rest, recuperation and extra volunteers, the Atrox Ventus will be departing THIS EVENING, Friday the 9th, at or near sundown. Of the current known volunteers are Mr. Merin, Miss Sky, and Mr. Makwa, though last-minute run-ups will be accepted.
[We will run narration for this segment when THREE or more of the away party are online and present in the specialty dream uploaded on the Manor lawn. In the past, it seems like 6pm-11pm EST are the most likely hours for this to happen in, though morning sessions may occur if the attendance trigger is met. You will be notified if narration segments are about to begin and you are not on. If neither narrator is online when the attendance trigger is met, feel free to call us on our cellphones. RP without narration may occur, but please do not ICly explore the island without it.
Characters missing narrated scenes will be interpreted as the character having become infected by a incapacitating skin condition selected by either the narrator or the player. The place they are going to has highly contagious diseases on the island that, due to their cause, adapt to various species with ease. Characters falling back due to this condition will receive a temporary balm on the Atrox Ventus and be allowed back, with symptoms, to the plot. Without your permission, no character will be permanently affected by these issues; it is a plot device aimed at giving people an excuse why their character may have missed a segment.] -
The away party to Guildereim has returned! And...they are...empty handed? It seems that while the trip was not as successful as people may have hoped it was, they were at least able to procure a lead from a couple of contacts in the Tether.
There is a collector that was last seen with a magical bird fitting that description - and older man, living on his own tiny island off Kasuria. With map in hand and directions expensively paid for, it seems that the folks just arriving home may have to head right back out again!
Who will join them to plead their case to an old man, and try to convince him to part with that precious commodity?
[Remember that if you want your character to go on this leg of the quest, they MUST be participating and asking questions in order to be selected. Do coordinate with Landi or Ikarus' players to let us know what level of risk you want your character to be in; we'll adapt the plan accordingly.
If you are selected be willing to commit chunks of time to it, as we'll be traveling to a specialized dream as a small group, and trying to figure out where a character is when their player has gone MIA is difficult.] -
With the party forming under Lord Ikarus' lead, it is decided that three to four selfless volunteers will be heading forward to follow the leads given to them. Following Merin's investigation of Samarillo's descriptions, the first stop in the quest to restore the island will be the moral cesspit of Guildereim. The ship leaves tomorrow afternoon, on Wednesday the 23rd of April.
[The next leg of the plot will be taking place under a guided experience through another dream. Please be aware of the dream's continuity and TOS, and obey directions from their OOC staff if required. Due to the nature of the dream there may sometimes be unwanted or inappropriate whispers directed at you as a player. Whisper Ikarus' player if either event happens so that the group can informed or take action as needed.
While every attempt in this section will be made to keep the group together, extended absences from the player of a character may have to be interpreted as either: the character has gone 'missing' in the TGT, or, the character became ill and convalesced. This is in order to keep the plot moving forward.] -
When the wind on the island blows, there is a death rattle. Thick and brown leaves shake and slap, clattering and crashing to the ground far below.
There is only one spot of green left; the dead dragon bog. So saturated by the death of the Dragon Queen on the island, it still clings to the special kind of fecundity born of rot and decay.
The insects are a plague at this point, but at least provide enough food for the birds and fish and in turn those that pray on them, but life for the people of the island is becoming grim.
To make things even more awkward, bands of fairies with nothing better to do occasionally slip free of Sir Richardo Suave's control and flit through town, polymorphing the people! [Fairies may change anyone into a digo that have, barring the dragons and mechanical creatures]
A recent appearance by a distress Tathok, however, revealing herself to five witnesses, has offered a clue. There is hope for the island, and a quest to be undertaken!

The dying of the island progresses.
First, the fruit dropped.
Then, the crops suffered.
Now, the very trees are starting to brown and suffer.
Insects are becoming a plague as they swarm the rotting fruit, and the birds of the island are beginning to thieve and mob open food stores in the village.
Prey for the hunters is becoming scarce as the food chain breaks down.
Surely something will be done about this soon. Right? -
After all the fruit has dropped from the trees, the birds have moved a bit back into the island, mobbing over the ripened fruit that falls in a last-ditch effort to fill their stomachs. Squabbles break out now and again to break the silence, but there is still a lack of normal wildlife sounds. Save for, perhaps, the buzz of a few insects and the stubborn presence of the local chicken population.
-
The silence of the birds persists into its third day. While many have had to turn back to the island, they can be found over-populating trees at the very edges of the shores. The parrots, normally so loud and social, huddle in nervous groups, silent. Surely they won't be able to feed themselves like this.
