While these aren't quite rules, they either explain the spirit behind a few of them, or otherwise point out some habits we have as a group that help us all get along, even if we have different RP preferences.
No god-moding or auto-hitting. You cannot assume your character successfully hit, touched, took-from, or otherwise physically affected another player’s character. You cannot assume a shop owned by a player character is run a certain way or sells certain items unless they have told you so (or it’s on the forums to be considered public knowledge).
You MAY assume that NPCs physically present in the dream can be a source of information and rumor for things that happened in that NPC’s domain. (ie: Davian can tell your character about what happened when your character was not present, as long as the action took place in the inn.) Further, the NPCs are always present in their buildings so long as their avatar is in the building. If their avatar is not present, they are not in that building.
Shop RP is one of the central aspects of RP in Nasmara. When making purchases try to ICly do so. Failing that, players are expected to make every effort to contact another player to otherwise discuss purchases. Nasmara provides forums, and the offline whisper function in Furcadia can be access by typing /%%name to leave them a message requesting information.
In Nasmara, you’re expected to wait one full round before you post in. This allows you to know to know what the scene in progress is like and can have your character react appropriately to what they are coming up on.
You’re expected to wait one full round after a post-out so you know what your character might overhear as they are leaving. The occasional emergency is of course forgivable, but please be aware of any OOC obligations you might have so that you can post out with time to wait before you really have to go.
We like to position our characters as close to where they ‘are’ as possible, and move the avatars as appropriate through the RP. Please do not put your character in a place they are not (say, in a seat if they are standing), because someone may wish to ICly use that space.
Nasmara is a small town it’s natural that characters who live there are seen frequently. Their absence will be noted. If you have not played your character in a month and left no word about what they would be doing, no one can violate rule (1) and assume your character is carrying out actions. Your character may be labeled ‘gone’. You can work out a reason why your character was off-island when you return.
Nasmara does rely on fantasy elements for its story, but it tends to use realism as its base. This may mean several citizen-characters react poorly to strange and startling behavior. Remember that IC and OOC are separate and our players may enjoy scenes our characters have disliked!
