Detailed here are races native to the Mobius Strip Galaxy. If you haven't yet, it's suggested that you check out New Players for a quick-start guide on where to go with character creations. If you've given it a glance over, and are thinking of playing a Mobius native, or simply looking for more inspiration, scroll on!

The Mobius is a very old galaxy teeming with diverse life; suffice to say there are a lot of possible races. Some of the most recognizable, core races are summarized below. However, if you'd like a little more variety, or are thinking of creating your own race native to the galaxy, head to User-Made Races at the bottom.

  • Core Races

    ➾ Androids
    Home Planet: Various

Overview: Androids come in various shapes, sizes and origins, depending on their maker and intended purpose. Playing an android then gives one a lot of room to be creative in their build and pros/cons. If you're interested but unsure how to get started, or don't wish to build your own android, check out the 'Getting Started' page under 'Reconstituted Android' and 'Reconstituted Demolition Derby Android' for some possible origins.

Appearance: Androids can vary wildly in appearance, and most forms are the epitome of customizable. Androids can be entirely organic-passing to very 'robotic', foregoing most fleshy norms to opt for chrome metallic plates and very few moving parts for expressing emotion.

Subraces: Because androids are manufactured by several different companies, to serve several different purposes, there exist a plethora of subtypes. But there are two main 'Categories' of androids: SIM-Derived, and AI-Derived.
SIM-Derived - Houses downloaded organic consciousness; 'Substrate Independent Mind'
.....▫Alpha-Droids - Also called 'Reconstituted New Arrivals' or 'RNAs' are androids put out by Alpha Corporation, using SIMs created from dying New Arrivals on Abbadon. These are individuals that have come through the wormhole and are unable to survive Abbadon's CO2 atmosphere. ... ...
    .....▫Other - ...
    AI-Derived - Houses entirely artificially-programmed minds
    .....▫Mechanical - A fully macro-mechanical android. Wires, circuits, what you'd expect.
.....▫Biosynthetic - An umbrella term used to refer to two types of androids--one built from the ground up to resemble organic, and one built from the start as a marriage of organics and mechanics. What they have in common, is that both are usually able to self-heal, through nanotech or biogrowth, whereas traditional mechanical droids are commonly unable to.
Microbionic - Describes an android made to mimic organics down to the almost-cellular level. Usually powered by nanotechnology, they bleed, have fleshy organs, and require food and sleep, just like organics. But all of there cells are in fact nanites.
Bio-Droid - Describes a partially or fully 'organic' android. That is, they were 'made' rather than born, but made of organic materials rather than synthetics. Examples are beings cobbled together from vat-grown organs and synthetics, to flora-based (genetically grown plants in a lab pieced together into a thinking being).
.....▫Automatons - A sub-AI droid. This classification includes 'drones'. They're not considered to have 'consciousness' and, although they are still quite complex, are only able to perform specific tasks, with limited capacity to learn.

  • ➾ Cyborgs
    Home Planet: Various

Overview: Someone who started as organic (human or otherwise) and was augmented with technology. In the medical field they can be crudely categorized by "percent conversion", anywhere from 5% with fancy cybernetic eyes, a neurotransmitter, or a prosthetic replacement of a limb, to 95% beings more machine than organic. And every flavour in between.

Some find the term 'cyborg' offensive or slightly obsolete; 'Augmented Human', 'Augmented Organic', or some variation of is also commonly used.

  • ➾ Humans
    Home Planet: None*

Overview: It's an easy guess that humans are not native to the Mobius Strip Galaxy. They hail originally from Earth, in the Milky Way Galaxy, a fairly standard spiral several thousand lightyears away. But humans are easily one of the more numerous of the races encountered in the MSG.

*That said, humans can be both a Native Race or a New Arrival, as there are still humans being deposited on Abbadon via the Delta Wormhole today.

History: Humans have been tumbling through the Delta Wormhole for centuries, with evidence pointing back a few thousand years. Astrophysicists suggest that when the Delta Wormhole was larger and more active, it may have taken a few entire primitive civilizations, that, with the assistance of much more advanced Native races, set up the structures of current-day Human Mobius civilizations like Earth 446.

Parallels to Present-Day Earth: Because New Arrivals from Earth still come through the wormhole from time to time, Earth history is fairly well understood (if a little outdated until the latest 'tea' comes through with the latest Arrival). It is present day on Earth, 2019, with Earth itself having had no contact with aliens.

This allows people to play star-struck Modern Day New Arrivals, and mention all of the latest Earthian pop-culture phenomenons, from Star Wars to the Black Plague.

For human Mobius natives, it just depends on how much you paid attention in history class.

Appearance & Biology: They come in all sorts of bland shades of brown and pink, and like to cover up for their boring genetic colourings by artificially dying their hair fun colours.

Although Mobius Native humans and New Arrivals are outwardly near-identical, there are many genetic markers that show where they diverged in evolution from Earthians, depending on how many generations back their ancestors came through the wormhole.

Public Relations: Lux, Earth 446, etc etc etc.

  • User-Made Races

The above are by no means the limit of the races allowable in Mobius. If you're intent on playing a native race and none of these appeal, consider creating your own, or perusing other Players' races.

These races are free to play (please read any restrictions), and add a bit more colour to Mobius' natives. If you have an idea for your own, or just want to throw down an important NPC race, post here!

  • An Endnote on Hybrids

    Rules wrote:
May exist via splicing or medical assistance only. These do not occur naturally but may exist with a back history of medical intervention. Hybrids may be grown in a vat or implanted into a mother to carry the child 'naturally' to term, though with heavy monitoring as the process is delicate/dangerous. - Hybrids can already exist, or be obtained through an NPC or ICly approaching a character capable of performing the procedure.

Please keep this in mind when creating characters. This means 'accidental' hybrids are not possible, as hybridization requires a lot of blood, sweat, and equipment to make.
