At first, Renzo wasn’t sure of the idea. There was a lot to sacrifice and conveniences to leave behind. After some serious talking, Renzo finally gave in. Zofia deserved this. They both did. After taking all their savings with them, started the moving process. They did this as quietly as possible. They didn’t want to leave a bread crumb trail. The idea was to move as far away from everyone they knew… in the name of privacy and peace. Surely this wouldn’t bite them in the ass later; they didn’t know if someone would be watching.
Turns out, the move went without a hitch. Renzo didn’t possess a lot of things; no attachment to any one item except his prized pistol and his dog. Zofia lost most of her things in an explosion from her old home. “I guess this is a good way to just… start over. You n’ me, baby.” He’d kiss Zofia as they said a halfhearted goodbye to his apartment. He wouldn’t miss it.
Zofia wanted to live in a cottage by the ocean. Renzo wouldn’t object, but he did press Zofia to plan with him a bit. A bit of research later, the pair would find an old cottage nestled up on some cliff overlooking the ocean on Earth-446. The realtor said it was a bit of a fixer upper, but it can be sold to the couple for real cheap. He and Zofia would have to do the rest. It would be some serious work to get the cottage back to its former glory. There were a lot of holes and some mold to worry about. The place was stupid old, after all, and not the standard that most people would choose to live by. That said, it was so far flung from the advanced technology that most people prefer in a modern home, that the cottage never found residents for years. The realtor was close to just having it torn down entirely… until Renzo and Zofia claimed it.

Once they arrived at their new home, Renzo began work immediately. He insisted doing a lot of the work himself, having experience in building and layout. It took three weeks for the cottage to look and feel sturdy, maintaining its vintage and cosy style. He left Zofia to take care of the interior.
It wasn’t until one evening that Renzo had a little fire pit going next to their home, sitting on an old chair with a beer in one hand and his eyes up at their little home, quiet, but with a smile on his face. He was shirtless, tanned, and tired, his stringy hair tied back in a loose bun. The tired he felt was a good tired. He was proud of their hard work.

Zofia knew it was going to be a change and she knew Ren would push against the idea of just... throwing away everything they held dear; job, friends. But she wanted to stop worrying, stop waking up in the middle of night, scared. She just wanted a quiet life with the man she loved.
To start anew.
The cottage was perfect. She wasn't phased by the fact they had to basically start from the ground up. They had a shell of a home that they could make their own. It excited her and it calmed her weary spirit. The first night in their new home, they slept on the floor and the lull of the waves crashing into the rocks soothed Zo. Her night terrors were no longer. She finally found peace.
While Ren was fixing up the outside, she worked on the inside and not before long, their hard work was finally showing. The inside was simple, almost straight out of a country living magazine. It was quaint and cozy and just... perfect.

While Ren was admiring their hard work near the fire pit, he'd soon feel arms wrap around his neck from behind. Leaning over his shoulder, she'd give his cheek a kiss, ignoring the sticky sweat. "Hey..." She whispered, pulling back and moving around him. Picking up a beer for herself, she sat across his lap, admiring their hard work with him. "Can you believe it? We actually did it..."

Renzo met Zofia’s wonderful lips and let them linger for the longest time, holding her steady as she sat across his lap.
“Yeah, we did, babe. Just like that. Unbelievable… I’m still pretty shook.”
Renzo gave his goofiest smile and pulled Zofia closer to him, cradling her, burying his face in her hair. “Mmm, girl stink. I love it. Not as much as I love looking at your butt every time you bend down to pick something up. Best distraction ever.” He was unable to suppress his shit-eating grin; he was sure he was going to get thumped for that.
“Sooo… now that I left a life of crime behind… you didn’t hear that, by the way… I guess now I better start learning how to fish.” He scratched his beard. It was getting fuzzier. “And maybe I oughtta find the nearest town and buy a boat. Not gonna lie, but it’s gonna be weird living a life without all that fancy schmancy tech… low-key gonna miss the automated doors and giant holoscreens… I mean… would you… say no… to a holoscreen… it doesn’t have to be so big… just ye big…” Renzo demonstrated by holding his hands a foot apart with a pleasing expression.
Meanwhile, Renzo’s huge Cane Corso canine was barking and running happily across the shore. It was certainly the best time of his life—he had never been to a real ocean before!
