Firenweorc was finally allowed put out of his room. Choosing to try and stay away from the crowded areas of the common room, he picked a book from the shelves and sat himself in a chair near the corner. He hoped they’d bring in new books, as he had read almost all of the ones from the small selection available to them. Immersing himself within the book, he started to relax despite it being a crowded and loud environment.
She passes by and sees him reading. She then walks over and sets down a book she has in her collection. "I hear you got cleared to roam around. I figured youd want something interesting to read." She says with a smile.
Firenwoerc looked up from his book, "O-Oh, um yeah I was. Thank you." He took the book curiously, "I've read pretty much everything they have here in the common room."
"Oh? Maybe I should bring you some more from my collection. I have read them over and over anyway." She says softly.
“Is it allowed?” He asked, “I don’t want to get anyone in trouble.”
"As far as I know, it's perfectly fine. I'm too valuable to fire over this if it in fact is not okay." She chuckles. "I'm sure it's perfectly fine." She says with a soft smile.
Firenwoerc nodded softly, then gave a very slight smile, "Ok. Thank you."
She smiles and tilts her head. "Hey, what do you like reading about?" She asks softly as she crosses her leg.
Firenweorc hummed slightly in thought, “Well, a lot of things really. I like poetry and fantasy, stories mainly; but I also like things such as documentaries and informational pieces of literature.”
She takes notes in her head. "Well... I have all of those. I use to read fantasy stuff a lot to--- well family." She says softly as she stretches a little. "I'll bring you more books once I get a chance to go home." She says with a smile.
Firenweorc nodded, “Thanks.” He smiled, and his words slipped out before he realized what he was saying, “I wasn’t allowed books before, so it’s really nice to get to read.”
She tilts her head. "Like before here?" She asks as her curious eyes gaze at him.
Firenweorc then paused for a moment, but he eventually decided to tell the truth and he gave a soft nod. “O-Oh um, yeah....”
"Oh that's terrible! Why wouldn't they?" She asks quickly before widening her eyes. "Oh I'm sorry, that was a rude question wasnt it. We dont have to talk about this if you dont want to." She says softly.
“It’s fine. I um.... I don’t really talk about it much. They just didn’t like it when I read things; thought it would give me ideas they didn’t want.” He didn’t really want to say much in such a public area. Plus all he could think about was how such information could be used against him.
"I see. Knowledge is a powerful thing but it was just wrong for them to keep it away from you in my opinion." She says with a little heat in her tone. "If you ever do want to talk about this more in private, you know you can." She says with a small, soft smile as her hand pats his knee softly before she quickly moves it away. She had forgotten he doesnt like touch for a moment.
Firenweorc nodded softly, “I’ll think about it...” He recoiled the moment she touched his knee, pulling it up into his chest in almost a fetal position before he slowly brought himself to sitting normally again. Unlike when others had touched him before though, he didn’t attack immediately.
"I am so sorry! I had a momentary lapse in memory! Please, forgive my error!" She says as she bows a little. "I-I didnt mean to make you uncomfortable!" She says as she stays bowed.
“I-It’s fine, l-like you said, you forgot for a moment.” He seemed genuinely surprised by the apology, but quickly went stoic when he realized.
"I'll try to remember more in the future." She says softly as she gets up from her bow. "Thank you for understanding." She says softly as she had noted that he didnt try to attack her. Could he trust me more than others? Is it just because hes growing away a small bit from this fear? a few questions spurred into her mind.
