Quinne and Abram have a bar chat~
>
Thueban — 07/13/2021
A couple of days after the fight, Abram finds himself again swamped with work. Tirelessly flipping through pages of designs, he finds the isolation to be too much.
Bars were always a good place to find new people. Though, in all honesty he never was known to be the sociable type.
Fuck it. He's bored.
He grabs his coat and mask before walking out into the night. A little jump in his step as music fills his ears. He walks into the first bar he sees. It's sleek and modern; Black walls accented by purple lights that glow softly through panels. It's a bit busy, but Abram can find himself slithering through the crowd and getting to the bar. He takes a seat and once the bartender comes to him he just smiles plainly.
"I'll take a Manhattan, but with bourbon please," he slides his card for the tab. He sits while waiting for his drink. Hopefully it will loosen him enough.
Quinne — 07/13/2021
Running into familiar faces had been his decision that night, even if his company seemed limited a great deal. Zeta was often with his own group of friends, and he hadn't seen Ama in a while. No bother, he was sure that'd change eventually. When he noticed Abram, however, he headed over to the new Mafioso in a casual manner.
"Evening." He greeted as he took the seat next to him, and waved to the bartender, but merely requested a simple rum and coke. He wasn't exactly that adventurous during bar runs. "Going well? How have you been since the fight?" Quinne would ask, digging out his own card to pay up afterwards. Once that was finished, he'd brush one section of his scarf off his shoulder.
Thueban — 07/13/2021
Abram shifted a bit as Quinne sat next to him to give him some room. He recognizes him from the fight. Yes he's the guy who had the camera recording it. Abram gives a bit of smile before replying.
"Good, busy as ever," he tapped the bar a bit. "The name is Thueban, it's nice to meet you, " He remains friendly, though it seems he's a bit distant. The drinks slide over and he takes a sip. He savors the quality alcohol and swirls the drink in his hand. "How have you been doing?"
Quinne — 07/13/2021
When he got his drink, Quinne grabbed a napkin to set underneath it. "Quinne, and to you as well." The distant mannerism didn't concern him, but he wasn't exactly the most warm person - even with the pleasantries, he remained stoic. "I've been alright, but it's been quiet for me." Which suited him just fine, especially when bartending.
"Have you found your stride here yet? Met a lot?" He would ask, and pulled an ashtray close, but glanced to Abram after. "You mind?"
Thueban — 07/13/2021
Abram watches him pull an ash tray and pulls out his own box of smokes from his jacket.
"I'm getting there, but work keeps me from meeting many others," He offers one to Quinne and if he takes one he would pull one out as well and puts it between his lips. He takes a lighter and offers to lights it.
He then lights his own cigarette. Takes a long puff and blows it into the air above him to make sure it doesn't go into anyones face. These weren't the fanciest of cigarettes but they do for now.
"Though, I met this kind woman named Jack, she helped me a bit with my work," He taps his cigarette on the ash tray. "Of course, I know Harpur, He actually invited me to join the family," He put the cigarettes back into his coat.
Quinne — 07/13/2021
"What do you do?" Quinne wasn't sure if he'd heard before, but he hadn't actually made an effort yet to ask about the new guy, when he could just find out for himself. Gratitude followed the offer of the cigarette and he lit it up himself, though he set the lighter on the counter for now.
"That's good. It's good to also hear Harpur is still doing some recruitment." He hadn't bothered to check on him, either, though he couldn't quite call them friends at that time. Besides, he had others for it.
He'd lean into the counter, as he nursed his own cigarette. "What were you doing before you joined?"
Thueban — 07/14/2021
“I’m a fashion designer, I do mainly commission work but im planning to release my first line soon” he smiled . He leaned back into his chair; a drink in one hand and a cigarette in an other.
“I was doing the same thing, but people in the mafia are now hearing about my work and I just drown it ,” he sighs a bit. He’s always been working hard, but with him planning to release his line in the fall. He feels like it’s almost impossible to keep with his work. He waves the hand with the cigarette towards Quinne.
“Enough about me, tell me a bit more about you,”He takes another sip of his drink before pulling a napkin to put his drink down on. He continues to tap the bar while smoking his cigarette
Quinne — 07/14/2021
"Oh? I'd like to see some of your work, when you've some time." And when he has access to any of his portfolios or other examples. "Huh, I see." He could see the merit in a clothing designer though, and it did make him a little more curious. Perhaps there were other reasons, but...time and place.
"That's a very small bit of info'." Atleast from Abram, and he smirked afterwards, bringing the cigarette back to his mouth. "Well, what would you like to know? Save me the trouble of rambling about anything pointless." As if he ever would.
Cigarette set aside, he'd finally pluck up his glass to take a quick drink.
Thueban — 07/15/2021
"Of course, I'd love to show you my work," he keeps the chatter polite, but short. He doesn't like to give a lot of information out the gate at first. The area seemed to be all too new for him, and there was a bit of discomfort. Though the further he sipped his drink the looser it made him feel.
He chuckles at the comment. "Sorry, I don't have much to share about myself, " He waved his hand. "I've grown up in the square district for pretty much my entire life, not much happens there,"
He leaned onto the bar with his elbows set down. "Anything, you decide whats important and whats pointless, It's about you," he points out.
Quinne — 07/15/2021
Quinne nodded along as he spoke, unconcerned by how little information he was given. "You're fine. Square district, hm?" Well, it was atleast a better transition from the others. "You watched that fighter for a while, the one from the other night." He wouldn't elaborate, just incase people got snoopy. "There's something similiar about you two."
However, he wouldn't leave Abram without information on his part, just to be fair. "Well, I was born and raised here, part of this Family. My parents were devoted Mafia, and of course, I was happy to follow in their footsteps. I mostly do random jobs when they need me, mostly patrols. Otherwise, I'm just a bartender."
And that suited him just fine.
"I feel like that's the most important part. I enjoy getting videos of things like what Harpur does, to an extent." He wasn't about to record Zakiya's possible murder, for likely obvious reasons. "Older music, older movies. Wandering about the district."
Thueban — 07/17/2021
Abram kept his outward appearance calm and collected. Though, the comment made him a bit paranoid. Why did he bring up that they looked familiar? Is he on to something? Instead he takes another sip of his drink; albeit a little bit more tense for a second.
"I guess so, but I've never seen them before," he lies. He listens to him talk about the family and his jobs. "Oh that sounds fun, so if you wanted to you could mix any drink huh?" He gives a bit of a chuckle to clam himself down.
He didn't want to make himself to obvious.
"Harpur does seem like an excellent fighter, I'm just glad he got out of it ok," He sighed. "I don't think I can go to one of those fights again if they're gonna end up like that in the end,"
Quinne — 07/18/2021
When Abram mentioned that he'd never seen Zakiya before, Quinne was quiet a moment. "Alright." Prying would likely not be taken well, but he still watched him to see his reaction to his possible acceptance of that deflection. "Yes, I took a class for it."
He set his drink down and looked away, only to nod. "Have you considered doing anything else for the family?" He asked, as if curious. "He is, but they're both hotheaded. In the end, one of them is going to wind up killing the other."
Thueban — 07/19/2021
" In the future if they need me, I would help." He flicked the ash into the ashtray. He thinks a bit; he isn't experienced in his vibe after all he only knew he had one when he turned 17. Guess if they needed him to slow down a guy he could.
He doesn't reply to the hotheaded comment. He doesn't want Zakiya to kill Harpur, and as much as he hates to admit it. He doesn't want Zakiya dead either.
"To be honest, I probably want to focus on learning my vibe a bit more before I feel like I can be any help to the family" He takes another hit of his smoke. He sweetly smiles . It's sickly sweet.
Quinne — 07/20/2021
Quinne set his own cigarette down after a moment, but he'd finished off as much as he cared to have. The lack of response wasn't given much acknowledgement, but it was also to be expected. "I meant, in the way of roles. Something other than a tailor." Mostly because he was curious.
"Ah, of course. Plenty of people are willing to help train, Harpur included. What is your vibe?" Quinne turned a bit, an eyebrow raised at the smile. Perhaps just overly pleasant, he decided.
"How much training have you done already?"
Thueban — 07/23/2021
"If the mafia needs another soldier, then yes I'm willing to get my hands dirty if that's what you're asking," he takes one more puff of his cigarette before smashing the butt into the smoke tray. He gives a bit of an huff to the reply.
He gives a small rotation of his wrist and a small vibe snake slithers from it. He still had some built up from his humming and soft singing as he walk towards the bar. It was gold, but dull and soft from the lack of vibe.
"I can create different snakes with different conditions mattering how I dance, but this guy can't do anything since I was just humming earlier " he smiled as it slither slowly towards Quinne to give a curious tongue flick to smell him before fizzling away.
"I've only had myself to train, so I only know two afflictions"
Quinne — 07/25/2021
"Always good, just in case. We don't really know what to expect, most times." UG showing up to cause issue, Quinne felt. He watched the snake that appeared and he raised his eyebrows, hands pressed to the countertop. Although made of vibe, he was ready to treat it like he expected anyone would with snakes.
With concern.
"Ah....I see. What are the, uh, afflictions?" He would've moved a hand close, though somewhere near its body rather than its head. "Well, lucky for you, lots of people like to train together. Harpur's big on it, there's other people dedicated to it."
Thueban — 07/27/2021
Abram notes Quinnes reaction to his snake. None the less he lays his hand back down onto the counter top.
"Well, I can make you feel a bad burning sensation, or fatigue someones limbs momentarily," Abram recalls his fight with Harpur. It's been a while since he has used vibe for offensive possibilities, and before Harpur. Well, He doesn't want to remember that.
"I'm sure theres more to it, I'll find out in time," he flashes a fanged smile before taking another sip. "I'm sure I'll find lot's of people to train with, but how about you." Abram leaves a brief pause. "What can you do?"
Quinne — 07/27/2021
"Well, I'll make sure not to let it try to bite me or something." The upside was his glass could be used defensively as well. "Those are still good, but now I wonder what more you can do, too. Perhaps the fatigue could shift into paralysis." Actual venom could do that, he knew.
"Me? Well." He moved his hand from the counter and held it up, so he could make a shard of glass manifest above his palm. It was shapeless at first, but Quinne worked with it to create a simple diamond shape. "I can make these. Simple now, but with the right moves, I can make a lot more and in different shapes."
Thueban — 08/02/2021
"I won't make it, but you know how snakes are ... they have a mind of their own," they chuckle nervously before quickly silencing themselves. They shrug sitting back in the chair kissing their teeth.
"I'm kidding," he waves his hand a bit. "I wouldn't have them bite you guys," he sips his drink. His tone is jovial, but he wheels it in to keep it safe. He doesn't want to make himself seem hostile.
His eyes flickered towards the shards of glass and he gives a slow, soft whistle. "Wow, thats amazing if I say so for myself," He looks at the glass shard pleasantly before looking back at Quinne.
"Bet you can do a number with that hm?"
Quinne — 08/04/2021
"I guess that's fair." Quinne likely wouldn't react too nicely to snake bite, but that really depended on what the bite did, too. "Of course." He said with a nod, and let the glass shard vanish after Abram got his good look in.
"It's very handy, but it takes a lot out of me the larger the shapes...and the amount. I try to focus on just a couple at a time, but it usually doesn't go that way. Sometimes, I have to deal with return projectiles and things like that."
He'd lean into the counter, only to finally stand. "I can, when I need. It's good for my work too, especially when I can just make thin, needle like shapes. Anyway, I should head back, get some rest before I have to take up a shift. If you ever need anything, I'd be happy to help someone new out."
Thueban — 08/04/2021
There is a faint smile as he gets up to get ready to go. Part of him questioned why he would need to make needle thin shapes, but he just let it go. No need to ask for detail; he had a few ideas what it could be used for.
"I think I'll stay a little longer, but thank you for talking to me a bit I appreciate it," he puts a hand out to shake his hand with one hand, and his other pulls a small card from his pocket with his information. "If you need anything from me, here's my info," After shaking his hand he gives a small wave. "Have a nice shift yes?"
Quinne — 08/05/2021
"Sounds good to me." When offered the handshake, Quinne accepted it immediately and took the card afterwards. "I will certainly give you a call if you need anything. I don't have the same to offer, card wise, but I'm easily found on Stepbook." He wouldn't give his number yet, but at some point.
"See you around." With a nod, Quinne headed for the exit and back to his own place.
Thueban — 08/06/2021
He watches as he nods and turns away. All he does is give a smile and waves his fingers a bit before he returns to his drink. Staying for a drink or two longer before returning to his own home.
