Welcome

  • A land full of creatures created, and forgotten.
  • Setting

In the world of Sootdrift no species were meant to continue. They were all play things, created by their gods for entertainment and nothing more, but then the gods...forgot them. They let their creations roam free, they never had a hand in the world they had made, they seemed to vanish.

After centuries of being forgotten these creatures began to socialize amongst each other, reaching out from their own enclosed little countries. The elves and humans mingled with shifters and dryads. Eventually one kingdom rose, allowing all creatures to settle together within it's walls. People flocked to the kingdom, hoping for a new start where they wouldn't be shunned by their people for having compassion for other species. This kingdom was named The Kingdom of Dreams.

Years later the king fell ill. His only son, a dark haired gaunt faced boy named Miyo was blamed for this, because everyone thought he practiced witch craft. They chased him out, leaving only the advisor to rule. He ruled with an iron fist, forcing exact amounts of money, or crops from his people. Eventually they rebelled, but amongst the rebels were people loyal to the advisor, and they poisoned their family members and neighbors leaving them weak before they wandered into the streets to fight. The rebels could barely walk, but they still fought for thier beliefs. The assistant and his men however, destroyed them in a single decisive blow.

As the rebels rotted in prison, the assistant found that ruling without half of his population was less than advantageous. He brought them back out of their cells under the condition that they were not to rebel. Instead one of them called out," The true king is Miyo!" and let out an explosion of forceful magic, destroying everything.

To this day no one knows who it was that destroyed the Kingdom of Dreams, only that when they did the magic residue caused the land to grow up, imitating what could've been. This disease spread, affecting everywhere, turning beautiful stags to sickly green creatures with vines on their heads instead of horns, sparkling plants into thorned traps, and the stone walls into golems. This land, and anywhere that surrounded, became known as " The Land of Lost Dreams."
