Rising Sun takes place during a mythical and fantasy based Japan. Currently the Nation is under the power and leadership of a shogun but war is always around the corner.
This group takes place on the Island of Shiroshima. Once completely ruled over by the Kazurai clan but civil war had broken out splitting the island between the three major clans on the island. These prefectures are Kosakamori ruled by the Kazurai Clan, Nakahashi the Benamatsu Clan, and finally Kuroisuido ruled by the Torytoma clan. The island is in a ceasefire but tensions are high. The Shogun wants one clan to eventually come out on top and bring order back to the island.
Technology is mostly of what you'd expect from the Sengoku period of Japan. Firearms exist but are rare here and they aren't higher in tech than a musket or flintlock.
Magic is divided into four groups
Maho - Normal everyday magic in what you'd be used to. Elemental spells etc. This is often used by Maho practitioners/mages known as the Shugenja. This magic is usually channeled from an outside source and the caster has more variety in what they can do. Such as mixing two different elements etc. It can take longer to cast these spells, but they're powerful. Some spells might need ingredients or ritual to complete. However mystical or mythical creatures may be naturally in tune with Maho and use it freely.
Ninpo/Ki /Swordsman Spirit- Magic that comes from the self. Everyone has ki but only few have practiced how to use it. Think shinobi and monks. Usually these magic enhances the self, but often a user might have an elemental affiliation. At most Ki/Ninpo users have two but this is VERY rare. Samurai use Swordsman Spirit allowing them to complete superhuman feets.
Yami Maho - Forbidden magics such as necromancy or anything that would break the natural order of the world or contact a demon or evil spirit for use of their power.
Outisde Magic - Magic learned or brought from a foreign land.

In this world there are mythical creatures and different races. Most are of Eastern and Asian background but please feel free to DM me if you have a character you want to play here but aren't sure if they'd fit.
