This event will start on 01 December 2020 and end on 31 December 2020.
There is no posting order here and the event is very hop-in, hop-out friendly. This means that characters can come and go as they please (similar to the trick-or-treat event on RPR).
Players can choose whether they want to participate sporadically and jump in a few days in the month, or be here the entire month long. Characters can take part in the different activities that go on during the event.
Small DM notes will be made to describe what time of the day it is and what is going on at the skatepark during that time. Feel free to use these notes as guidelines, but your characters are allowed to wander around freely.
While there is no posting order, please do allow for others to post and don't spam the thread constantly. Know that this event is family-friendly and that we expect for you to behave rather decently IC. If this isn't true to your character's nature, you can have them engage in small criminal activities but realize that your actions will have consequences.
Most of all, this thread exists to have fun and enjoy yourselves.
It is worth noting that this roleplay is tied to Etymology and it's group. Even though the event took place before the zombie outbreak in Clarey (No, your character may show no knowledge of the outbreak that will happen eventually), your characters actions and experience here as well as the connections they make will affect the main storyline. Whatever happens will become canon.

Pretty ribbons and bows decorate the gates that are opened wide. Balloons are tied around every pole that can be found at the park. The music is playing, the sun is shining. It is August and people are happy. The CSY-crew, Clarey's group of skating youths is walking around in the park as they check the last things to make sure everything is perfect. Soon, people will arrive and they hope that they'll manage to make it an amazing day for everyone.
A few of them are skating in the bowl or on the ramps, practicing their tricks one last time for the show that will take place at midnight. Others are making their way behind the bar, ready to serve drinks. The food truck opens it's doors as well, making sure that it can take orders once people start to get hungry.
On the grass near the concrete of the skate park, there's a bouncing castle as well as a playground with sand and a tattoo booth. As the event is family friendly, there's only temporary tattoos available on this day. People can choose between airbrushed tattoos and henna. Lots of designs are available and they're cheap. Another booth is set up with merch of the skate crew as well as unrelated accessories. There's bracelets, hats, sunglasses and t-shirts with skating related images on them.
Near the gates, two crew members are passing out flyers that have all there is to see on them. Aside from passing out these flyers, they greet every guest with a wide smile and wish them a warm welcome. Behind them, another pair of crew members awaits to offer everyone a cool drink. People have the choice between soda, water or alcohol free cocktails.

As with most community events, Grace was one of the first that arrived at the event's location with a wide smile plastered on her face. Her enthusiasm was clear and she beamed and waved at everyone she saw standing by the entrance. She greeted two of the crew members as she accepted a flyer and made her way over to the tray with the drinks, grabbing an alcohol free cocktail for herself and turning back towards the entrance, where her older brother was accepting a flyer too.
Jack soon made his way towards her and followed her lead, taking a cocktail glass of his own. Even though he was more quiet than her, it was clear that he too was excited about this event.
"Are you expecting a big turn out?" She asked Evelyn, the blonde that was holding the tray they'd taken their drinks from. Evelyn shrugged in response and laughed sheepishly.
"I'm honestly not sure how many people we're expecting, but as always we made sure to have enough stock to accommodate all of Clarey and beyond." She admitted, to which Grace nodded.
"Well I hope it draws many people, CSY's events are always great and I can't wait to see you all perform later tonight." She said, the nail of her index finger landing on the part that stated the skate show would begin at midnight.
The first activity would be free skating lessons though, and she looked at the bowl and the ramps in curiosity while she debated whether or not she'd try.
"I guess I'll see you later!" She said to Evelyn, giving her a half embrace and making sure to watch out for the tray before she made her way further into the park, soaking up the pleasant and happy vibes with Jack in tow.

Three skaters
Standing across the street from this grand and loud-visual skatepark were three youths. Youths in that they were old enough to drink...probably. Youths also too young to really worry about a 401k. Each of them with a skateboard; on the left was a young man standing just below six feet in height with a short bleached haircut, small fact tattoos, and slim build under thrasher t-shirt and black skinny jeans and adidas; in the middle practically the same height as the guy stood a female with slim build and baggy clothes from her white t-shirt to bleach blue jeans, and her hair was long and black; finally of the trio was the tallest of them, their “white boy” with long somewhat curly brown hair under a bright orange beanie, skinny but with lean muscle wearing a grey t-shirt and grey pants, scratching his beard audibly. Richie keeps scratching his beard as he says, “When’s the last time we’ve been to an actual skatepark again?” Casey chimes in, “Junior year after we got chase out the college by the security guard with the Buddha belly.” Nala squints her eyes recollecting the memory in her head, “That guy had crazy cardio.”

So far the group of youths across the street went unnoticed, at least to Grace and her brother. They were too caught up in the event and all the fun booths they could see to pay attention to what was going on outside the skate park.
While they wandered through the area and headed towards the side of the park to greet the crew members by the bouncing castle, Gio was the one that saw the trio first. The crew member, who was standing by the entrance of the park with his flyers, smiled and waved at them. The last of his waving was more of a gesture for them to come over, and he hoped that they'd follow through. While anyone was welcome, he couldn't help but to notice the skateboards they were holding and as it was a skating event it'd be good to have more skaters joining them.
Grace found one of the merch booths, her gaze reaching all of the items they were selling. There were patches, t-shirts, hoodies, keychains, stickers and other things with either the crew's logo or other skate related things on them. Aside from that, there was actual skating equipment in the booth right next to it. That one held wheels, boards, inline skates, safety gear, bearings and similar items. Tugging Jack's sleeve, she pointed out some of the items she liked and her voice changed to a pitch of enthusiasm as she tried to choose the things she wanted to buy.

"That hoodie is nice, it would look good on you. So would the shirt." He agreed as she pointed out the things she liked. A smile spread on his face while Grace rambled on about the patches she saw as well as the keychains and the necklaces and his own attention went towards the booth right next to it. It was no wonder that Grace's initial attention was on clothes as she happened to be into fashion, but he hoped that her attention would soon turn to the other booth as well.
His own fingertips ran over a few sets of longboard wheels in a toxic, neon green and excitement ran through him. He hadn't skateboarded in years, but that didn't mean he wasn't any good at it. Sadly enough, he felt that he wasn't at any level that could possibly justify buying the boards of the booth he liked the most, but maybe he could buy a basic one or at least skate again at the beginner skating class that would be part of the event? His blue eyes lit up like those of a kid in the candy store.
"Have you considered joining the beginner class, sis?" He asked Grace, a small hint of a smirk tugging on the corners of his lips. Deep down he was hopeful about her saying yes, as he really wanted to join the class. It was unlikely that he'd join if she wouldn't though, unless of course someone else would offer for him to skate together.
"I'm not sure. I might? I fear that I'll look absolutely ridiculous though." She replied, which caused for him to chuckle and pat her on the head.
"Come on, we can join together. It could be fun." he opted.

"Mmm, maybe you're right." Grace mused and as she slowly got used to the idea of the two of them giving it a shot together, her smile widened. "Sure, why not. We're here after all, we might as well join all of the activities." She then claimed, having settled on a yes to his question.
As Jack's attention lingered on the other booth, Grace picked up the things she wanted from the first and gave them to the crew member that was running the booth.
"I'd like to buy these, please." She asked, having picked up a shirt with the crew's logo as well as a sweater that said "Rolling away from your bullshit". Aside from that, she'd chosen a cute keychain with silver colored inline skate as well as a cute patch that wasn't immediately related to skating but had a cat on it.
The crew member widened her eyes lightly as it was the first sale of the day and immediately a big one, but nodded and put the items in a bag before handing the bag to Grace.
"That'd be 67,50" She said to her, and Grace took her card from her wallet before placing it in the machine and inserting her code. A beep and a green smiley on the machine settled the payment, after which Grace beamed and nearly had to stop herself from twirling around in excitement.
Taking a few steps closer to Jack, she stood on her toes to rest her chin on his shoulder before tilting her head.
"What do you have your eye on, big bro?" She asked, giving him a teasing squeeze in his side as she knew it'd tickle him.

Jack had gotten lost in thought, having barely noticed how his sister's chin came to rest on his shoulder. He only snapped out of it and had his attention returning to her when she squeezed his side. Still, it took him a few seconds to recollect and process her question while he tried to drag his gaze away from a board with a neon green design on the bottom of it's deck. The design was somewhat of a tribal, it's color matching the wheels he'd had his eyes on previously perfectly.
"That board... These wheels..." He started to tell her, gesturing towards the items he meant to make sure she looked at the right ones. Before he proceeded to speak again, he shook his head and turned away from them. Instead, he took a few steps to the side and focused on the cheap and basic skateboards. Those would be just fine to start out with, wouldn't they?
His sister's hand moved from his side to his arm, where it found his sleeve to give it a gentle tug.
"You can do something nice for yourself. After all these years, you've earned it and I know you can afford it. Don't you worry about me. My tuition is covered and I have a weekend job now, I'll be just fine." She claimed, her tone reassuring.
While he knew it was meant to make him feel better, he didn't feel good about it just yet. In the past years, he'd been very careful with his money to make sure he could offer his sister the future she deserved. Old habits died hard, and every dollar he chose to spend was turned twice and reconsidered.
"I'm not sure Grace. Yes, I can afford it but I probably shouldn't. What if something comes up? What if your friends decide to go on a trip after graduation? I want you to be able to go with them." He answered, his brows furrowing a bit as worry was painted on his face.

Inna & Vera
Silence would follow the soft hum of an engine shutting down, and gravel slowly crunching under heavy wheels. The vehicle would be hushed for a few moments as both passengers looked around, listening to the collection of muffled voices in excitement and blaring music that worked to pierce their way through the cars thick skin. “We drove 9 hours for this….We traveled to Nashville to get you some cool pictures, and you somehow found this place….how do you find these things”? The woman in the driver’s seat chuckled, peeking over her steering wheel as her raven locks spilled forwards over her shoulders.
The woman next to her would smack her with a playful little smile. “Inna be nice…….It’s cute. I bet it’s adorable in the winter. Like all those Christmas movies we love!”. The woman would giggle, her large blue eyes looking away from her sister to take in the little event that seemed to be just gathering. Inna would purse her lips with a cheeky little smirk aimed at her sister. “Then why are we here in August Vera?” Inna raised her brows with amusement as she watched Vera sigh in her direction before pulling her camera out of it’s bag and strapping it around her neck. “Come on…” Vera rolled her eyes as she stepped from the car.
Silence hung between the girls for a moment as they headed towards the well decorated gates. Inna’s gaze would drift towards a trio that stood off elsewhere, and admittedly she might have stared for a moment. They didn’t quite seem bubbly like the rest who were headed inside, perhaps she’d take a mental note of that. Her attention was pulled away from that group as Vera took her arm. “Look….Nashville was nice, and I did get some cool pictures, but these are real people Inna. I mean I know we have ‘cool skater kids’ in New York, but people from places like these are building everything from the ground up and that’s super cool!” the blonde spoke excitedly, a smile crossing her lips from ear to ear as she was handed a little flyer at the gate. “I mean look at this!” she waved the flyer wildly. “It's homemade, there’s so much heart in it!”.
“And comic sans” Inna snorted, pulling the flyer from her sisters hand to take a look. There was something rather charming about it. Pulling her eyes away from the paper, Inna would look around, using the flyer to shade her eyes from the sun. “It is like a medical nightmare waiting to happen”, she hummed just loud enough for them to hear as she specifically looked at how close the DJ was to some of the action.
“Ease up Inna” Vera placed her hand on her sisters shoulder. “We are here to get some cool action shots and make memories. Imagine the funny stories we will have about tonight….Maybe later we could see what else is in town, I mean I wonder what a hospital looks like in a place like this. Don’t you think it would be cool to know”? Vera shook her sister playfully. Inna couldn’t stop the smile that cracked on her lips. Vera’s smile was always the kind that lit up a room, and she could hardly keep a straight face around her. “Alright….Alright” Inna giggled. Vera hummed happily and filled her sisters cheek with annoying kisses.
The two would stroll along, merch being the first thing to catch their eyes, as the evening wasn’t in full swing yet. Inna took the chance to buy a pair of sunglasses, while Vera was far too excited to get a little bit of everything. Particularly she enjoyed collecting a few patches she could put onto her own clothing at home, and a fun novelty sweater that said ‘Rolling away from your bullshit’ which she was likely to cut up into another piece of fashion down the road. As she was paying, a pair down towards the next booth caught her attention. She watched them for a moment, and couldn’t quite make out what was being said but from the pointing fingers she could guess a bit. Casually Vera would drift towards them, carefully glancing at the different boards until she found the one she had suspected of being pointed out. “Wow….that one's really beautiful” she said innocently, though it was also the truth. “Think you might get it?” she said casual to the male at her side before her icy blue hues wandered towards him.

Grace's attention was still captured by her brother and the board he'd been looking at when the two women arrived, their excitement on the booth next to them reaching her ears. She turned her head a little, getting distracted easily as her brother's indecisiveness was starting to get to her. She watched and smiled as Inna tried on the sunglasses, her smile widening when the other started to buy a little bit of everything just like she had.
Her attention was pulled back to the booth they were standing at and she looked up at her brother, who still stood there staring at the board.
"Make sure your gaze doesn't get glued to it. If you end up dragging it along with us purely by staring, we'll have to pay for it too." She joked, the joke getting her a lightly annoyed eye roll from her male company.
She didn't realize that the two women were heading their way and as one of them appeared at the booth and made a comment about the board, hope started rising in her and she thought that maybe another person's opinion might help convince him.
"I think he should... He sadly enough doesn't seem to feel the same way though..." She started, casting an almost accusing glance in his direction before leaning forward a bit to reach around him and extend her hand towards the woman.
"I'm Grace, this is Jack." She said as a matter of introduction, a small smirk appearing on her face as she was fully aware of the fact that the simple introduction was capable of getting a rise out of her brother.

He surely hadn't noticed the woman that had joined them, at least not until she stood rather close to them and spoke to him. At that point, he turned to her and blinked twice, as if he was re-adjusting to reality. His own, piercing blue gaze met hers and he nodded, albeit a little slowly.
"I might actually, I really do think it's beautiful..." He started, getting near-rudely interrupted by his sister which caused for his lips to form a thin line. He didn't really need her to interfere and the jab wasn't lost on him.
"Look, you know what I said. I worry about you..." He said as he looked back at the shorter ginger next to him. He didn't get the chance to say much more though, as his sister reached around him to offer the woman a handshake.
"Yes... I am Jack..." He said in a mildly annoyed tone as he gritted his teeth before doing his best to plaster a smile on his face.
"Let me guess, you think I should get it too?" He asked the woman, which got him a harsh nudge of Grace's elbow in his side.

Sasha Kingsley
Sasha had been walking around, mostly keeping to herself as she let her eyes wonder over what all was being offered, and the quick excited chatter of all kinds of people. Some she knew and smiled at, others she merely nodded towards.
It was a big day for someone close to her, and she came in search of her. The happy, bubble of a girl who was as much as a sister as one could be without blood between them. Sasha's bright red curls bounced around her head as she had left her hair down for the day.
She knew that Grace was here somewhere, and the bright green of her oval shaped eyes searched faces for her. She was deeply tanned and had plenty of dark freckles splashed across her narrow nose.
It may have taken a bit, but she finally spotted Grace, standing with a few others, just chatting from the looks of it. As Sasha cut her way around other people and things, she came up just behind Grace, "Well, was I forgotten then or just misplaced?" She said with a bright grin. She wore a dark blue tank top tucked into simple blue jeans that fit the curves of her hips. It left no doubt that she was not only a woman, but one who was is really good shape.
Still grinning, she looked down at Grace's shoes and laughed, saying, "I like your shoes!" An ongoing joke between the two as she looked at the faces of the strangers, a head taller than Grace.

Inna & Vera
Vera’s smile was filled with warmth as the ale started to speak, though it turned to a spoke laugh as the woman at the mans side spoke over him. She herself hummed in a bit of thought with the woman’s words, eyes glancing back towards the male for a moment. She didn’t hesitate in taking Grace’s hand, shaking it gently in return. “I’m Vera, that over there is my sister Inna” she would use her free hand to point her twin out once letting go of Grace’s hand. “I see we both share a good taste in fashion”, Vera held up the sweater she had just bought that matched the one Grace appeared to have.
Biting her cheek to hold a chuckle, she laughed at the way Jack’s tone of voice turned to some what annoyance with Grace. Such things were all to familiar between her and Inna. Though Vera was typically the Grace while Inna was the Jack. Not wanting to pry deeper into a few words Jack had said to Grace, her friendly smile returned with his question. “Well I agree that it is beautiful, but if you don’t buy it - perhaps I will. I think it would look pretty nice on my wall in the apartment back home.....”. Her tone was one that could have been taken as either a playful joke or entirely serious, and her poker face was even better.
Vera’s attention would be taken away as another woman strolled up behind Grace, though not wanting to ruin the girls little moment she returned to Jack. Her head would tilt back slightly to take in the board again. It really was quite unique in terms of design. You didn’t see a lot of personalized things where they came from.

While Grace and Vera shook hands, Jack tried his best to not roll his eyes at his sibling. He didn't particularly mind that Vera had shown up, but his sister injecting herself in their interaction was unnecessary and while he wasn't angry over it the annoyance remained. As Vera mentioned fashion, he seemed to cast a pleading glance in her direction. Please, don't get her started he thought. He was grateful for the chance to visit his sister, but listening to her go on and on about clothes wasn't on his bucket list for the day.
Luckily, the woman focused back on him and the board and spoke once more before the smaller ginger had the chance to interfere again.
"You will?" He asked, his eyebrow raised in curiosity. He immediately wondered if she skated too and a smile appeared on his face, excited at the prospect of winning her over when it came to taking the beginner class with him and Grace. As she proceeded to speak and mentioned the wall of her apartment, the smile was wiped away from his face and he stared at her in shock, mouth lightly agape. She was going to hang the pretty board on the wall... not use it?
Grace became a mixture of silenced laughter and a held back snort as she tried to keep a straight face during the situation, which was a near painful addition to Jack's mind of doubts.
"I-" He started, looking at Grace briefly before turning back to Vera. "You wouldn't... use it?" He asked, disbelief layered in his voice. The disbelief was overwhelming as he debated on his next move, and even the familiar voice calling out to his sister didn't pull his attention away from the blue eyes in front of him. "You wouldn't..." He repeated, this time not in a matter of questioning whether she'd use it but wondering if she'd really buy the board he wanted to own to hang on her wall if he didn't buy it.

Grace had followed the conversation so far, but before the last few sentences were spoken by Jack they'd lost her attention and that attention had turned to the woman with the dark red hair that had appeared behind them. First, her head had turned as she heard the voice of her best friend, but she'd soon turned her body too and even though they'd only been apart for a month, she'd nearly jumped her best friend and wrapped her arms around the woman's chest.
Barely letting her get air, she let out a loud and excited squeak and jumped up and down, mainly dragging her along with the jumps before finally releasing her.
"I missed you, I missed you, I missed you!" She claimed in full honesty, smiling like a fool now that she had her best friend in the entire world back. The feeling and emotion were as genuine as the words given that while they lived together for most of the year, summer break was always long without Sasha around.
"I could never forget you, silly." She added in response to the teasing question. "We've only just arrived and I didn't want to make you rush."
In truth, it was Grace that needed to be rushed most of the time as it always took her the longest to get ready when they were heading somewhere. Still, out of her own dislike of being rushed she wanted to make sure to not push anyone else to do the same.
The comment on the shoes got her a stuck out tongue and a half-assed eye roll. "I like yours... too." She replied teasingly, making sure to pause halfway and arch her eyebrow in pretended disapproval. She then shook her head and laughed. "I like your face much better though, I missed seeing it."

Sasha Kingsley
Sasha grinned and looked down at her shoes, the broken in combat boots fitting her. With a chuckle, she looked back up and shrugged. "At least I won't trip," she said. Reaching into a pocket, she pulled out a small bag of skittles, popping one in her mouth.
"Heya, Jack. How's it hanging... I mean, catch many flies with your mouth hanging open that way?" Not waiting for a response from him, figuring he would end up ignoring her like normal. Instead, she lifted her eyes over Grace's head and dropped an arm over her shoulder. "Who's your friend? Or well, friends." Sasha said, as she seen two of the same person.

Davinci Bjelke
Dave arrived a little after the place opened, not really paying too much attention to the people within the skate area for the time being. He'd helped to build a good chunk of it, and he devised a way to test the strength of some of the ramps and rails, in his own little way. Making sure he had an opening, he sprinted full tilt at the outer railing, lifting into the air a little and using the rail as a springboard to launch high into the air. He did a double backflip, landing in a soft crouch and rolling forward and coming out of it in a dead run. On a low grind rail, he stepped off it to do a sideways barrel roll, landing about four feet from the side of one of the quarter-pipe ramps. He came out of the roll with two steps, before running up the wall for a couple of steps, leaping high and backwards, tucking tight to backflip a couple of times, before stretching out a little, landing on his feet and bouncing again backwards, a single flip before landing with a balance on the grind rail from before. Satisfied with how sturdy they felt, he stepped off them with a grin and a laugh, shaking his hands and arms a bit as he looked around and shook the sweat out of his long white hair.

Inna & Vera
Vera had to bite away the smirk that crawled towards the corner of her lips. The look on Jack’s face had been enough, but hearing Grace nearly laugh was rather heartwarming. She was always one of those people that hated to be mean, but loved to get a rise out of people - and she had certainly gotten something out of Jack.
Putting her poker face back on, she took on a rather serious tone - her brows furrowing for a moment to add to the effect. “Well you know…..I think I would give it a couple tries, and then like anyone with a hobby - let it slide away from me over the next few years...Put it away for a while, get madly inspired one day to pick it up again before it becomes a permanent decoration…Yeah….that sounds nice. I think i’ll take it...wheels too please”. She spoke easily to the person behind the booth, almost effortlessly tapping her card as a machine was presented to her.
Her train of thought was certainly a quick one as she worked to fill him with a certain amount of dread before she could no longer hold back a smile. Taking the board as it was handed to her, she gave him a bit of a once over with a thoughtful hum. “How about a deal?....” she said playfully. “Let me take a picture of the board, and you can keep the board…….that way we both get it”. Vera’s smile was nothing but warmth as she held out the board towards him. “And if you wanted to show me some basics…….that would be really cool of you”. Her tone was filled with a calm happiness as she spoke, as if she had never meant any of her actions to be malicious to begin with.
Inna in the meantime had still stayed a bit behind the group. While she had the intention of joining the others, her attention was grabbed by various loud sounds near the skaters. One in particular grasped her, he was almost moving at hells pace doing various moves and admittedly it made her nervous. She was tense nearly the entire time she watched, and only when he landed did she laugh with relief. Vera was kind of right. The wash of adrenaline was fun, and maybe she would take that advice to relax for the evening.
Wandering towards the gathering her sister was with, Inna pulled up at Vera’s side while bumping hips playfully. “You just missed some great action shots” she said quietly, pushing the sunglasses up onto her head. Only once the glasses were no longer blocking her eyes, was it clear that the girls almost couldn’t be more identical. Seeing Vera’s extended arm, Inna's gaze would follow along its length to meet the males gaze before looking over the others. “What are you doing….” Inna said quietly to her sister.

Sasha's comeback got her a pout for her teasing before she started laughing, her laughter growing and continuing as her best friend greeted Jack in her typical Sasha way. She knew that both women were now getting a rise out of him and held up her hands in defense, pretending like she hadn't done anything at all to him yet that day.
"That's Vera," She said in answer to her question while gesturing towards the one that was standing with Jack. "The other is Inna. They're sisters. We hadn't met them before today, but I already like her." She said about Vera, a joyful smirk appearing on her face as she watched how the woman was starting to crawl under his skin. Oh yes, what she was saying would get him to buy the board... or so she thought, as a gasp left her lips and her eyes widened in pure shock when she witnessed the woman buying the board.
The next moments could be filled with Jack turning to her and asking her to leave, or it could go another direction which wouldn't end well. Grace hoped for the first and tensed up just a bit under Sasha's arm while she watched Jack for any signs of anger. He'd been doing better lately, much better than years before that but he still had anger issues and in this situation his actions were rather unpredictable even to her.
Just as she was about to step away from Sasha and reach out to him to lead him away from the woman, the woman did something she didn't expect at all and seemed to hand the board to Jack. The simple action and the nonchalance of it had Grace utterly dumbfounded, and she turned from them to Sasha as she wondered if she was imagining things.
"You're seeing this too, right?" She whispered as her gaze turned back to the held out board, which was rather expensive.

Jack had had that same dumb expression on his face for quite a few minutes while he listened to her explanation. His gaze lingered on the furrowed brows before widening to be able to look at all of her face. She'd give it a couple tries? That'd be good and he felt reassured, only to be let down again seconds later when she said she'd let it slide away from her over the next few years. It hit him deep too, as that had been exactly what had happened to his own love for skating in the past.
The part about the permanent decoration caused for his hand to get balled into a fist, and he immediately tried to relax it again as he felt his nails dig into his palms. It wasn't worth getting upset over, at least not angry. For not being upset, it was way too late and his expression would tell her all about it as there was a hint of hurt in his eyes and his lips were reformed to that thin line. His gaze briefly wandered to the card as she paid for the items, but quickly returned to her in an almost offended glance.
The dread she'd been trying to fill him with was filling him up rather quickly and he wanted to leave, preparing to turn away and head to Grace so that they could preferably leave the skatepark overall. Instead, he caught the hint of the smile on her face and at the thoughtful hum, he raised his eyebrow. What on earth was this woman up to?
She spoke of a deal and his emotions took a rollercoaster from there. They started at worry and almost disgust, feeling like she'd be trying to sell him the board and the wheels for twice the price or something along those lines. As she proceeded to speak in a playful manner, his frown deepened and at the next of her words and the warm smile that she gave him, her expression of shock was back.
"Wait... I what?" He asked as she suggested they'd both get it as long as she had a picture. The board that was held in his reach was something out of a dream, and as he didn't particularly trust strangers or believed in the kindness of humanity, he thought she was playing a cruel prank on him.
"This is a prank.. it has to be a prank.." He started, letting her proceed and hearing her out as she said she wanted to show him some basics. The tone of her voice told him that she wasn't kidding or being mean, even if he could barely believe it.
While Vera's sister approached, he stared at Vera and blinked a couple times, feeling the strong urge to pinch himself at the very idea of a complete stranger buying him the board and the wheels. It was only when Inna joined them and spoke about the great action shots that he seemed to wake up from his trance, and blue eyes searched for Vera's to make sure what she was saying was true.
"I... I would be honored to show you some basics." He said, not reaching for the board just yet and instead remaining focused on her over the board. "Do you want to take the beginner class together? I'll help you out." He added now that he could finally find his voice again and started to sound more steady. His smile even returned to his face and his eyes lit up, granting her the most genuine and true smile that he usually only reserved for close friends and family.
