She noticed the people that were following at a distance, although they didn't seem to try and catch up to her. Registering them was easy as they were making no effort to hide themselves and so she walked on, paying them little mind as she ventured onto the road.
The shuffling of their feet was something she hadn't heard until the north of the town was starting to get left behind. Then, it became more apparent.
Shuffle, shuffle, shuffle, stumble, shuffle...
A weird pattern, the sound of the boots hitting the asphalt behind her.
Shuffle, stumble, stumble, shuffle, shuffle...
It continued as if one was limping, and Grace being ever caring turned to look and see if they were alright.
The road directly behind her was empty, and so she turned to face the campus where she could see them walking. Walking at the same pace they had been, without any clear injuries.
Shuffle, shuffle, shuffle...
Grace stopped in her tracks and turned, facing the North while an eerie feeling overwhelmed her. She gazed at the horizon and saw people moving in her direction slowly.
A lot of people, a crowd. Survivors from another town? Had they walked that far? She stared.
Pieces of the puzzle started to collect inside her mind. The Void, his message... Sasha's confirmation. A true nightmare but now, reality. Nothing less. Horrifying reality.
Bodies were moving, legs dragged along, chunks of flesh missing and limbs dislocated. Ripped clothes and empty eyes that stared at her from the distance. The smell hit her nose first and then...
The groaning. Awful hungry groans that seemed to grow louder as the bodies stumbled along, now spotting a target that they wanted to reach. There had to be at least four dozen and Grace didn't want to waste time counting.
A single whisper left her lips as she turned around before she started running.
"Fuck..."

Owen
“I’m pretty sure we were supposed to head East from our location. I told you I looked over the map and the only possible location they could’ve gone is the combined school campus.” The operator said as he looked at the map as it had been tri-folded for viewing purposes. He stopped on the road not far from campus, taking a breather from walking. He noticed that the female that had been hovering about by herself was nearby. Odd, why’s she just standing there, he thought. Owen adjusted his mask and could hear the faint sound of shuffling feet. At that point he adjusted his head and saw in the distance an approaching horde.
This horde was larger than the ones he had to deal with upon landing. They were cluttered together and even intimidated him. Could he take them? Probably, with help. He puts a hand to his mask, which mimicked one putting a finger under their chin. He visibly looked appalled or perplexed, weighing his next choice. He looked back at the map, and continued onward towards the school. “Jolyne, there’s a horde coming through. Think of it like a large heard of sheep. We can avoid it by continuing on the path towards the schools. Don’t shoot at it.”
Jolyne
The blonde haired badass wakes up to be on the same level as the female from before. She tilts her head to identify here, and then tilts it even further to identify the approaching horde. With a quick count in her head she figured it was more than thirty. She ran away from bigger crowds before all this craziness so large numbers of people wanting to fuck her up wasn’t a stray away from the norm. Jolyne inhaled sharply through her nose. Phlegm built up, and spat out onto the ground. She flips the approaching crowd of zombies off with both of her middle fingers before following after Owen casually. “Hey speaking of sheep, you think we’ll eventually run into zombie animals? Like rabbits? Possum. Raccoons? Squirrels? Really anything I can punt like an off season Chris Jones.”
Folgers
Alone for several days had seen folgers change....constant running....constant evasion had left him on the edge of collapse. Weaving through what remained of the highway, checking every open vehicle for food, water or any other useful items.
Slowly he approached a gently rocking SUV slinging his rifle as he drew his sidearm. Peering through the driver window he froze seeing a disembodied hand still attached to the steering covered in dry blood. Taking a step back to check the tinted back window leaning in closer to attempt to peer through. Just as his face was inches away the small occupant burst through the glass showering him with glass. His ONLY saving grace was the small creature was still buckled in now dangling halfway out the window. Blood streamed down his face as he hesitated...the quiet debate of morality was shattered on that highway by a singular gunshot accompanied by not so distant echoes of the other undead. Wiping the bloodied glass away the best he could he began a rather fast paced forced march towards the nearby college campus making sure to keep fast and low.
Tonya
Having left the woods behind, the mute woman crept along the road. She still had her gun, but she had run out of ammo back when she helped the redhead in town. So far, she had avoided anymore of the walking corpses. Her body shuddered hard as she kept moving, until she heard the soft whisper from a female. A woman started running as if the hounds of hell was after her. Tonya stood up all the way, looking behind the fleeing woman and her eyes widened. No sounds came from her mouth, but she quickly took off, racing towards the woman to follow her. Even running she took a small notepad from her pocket and wrote in hasty letter, "can't talk, can I stay with you?" Before dashing up to Grace and handing her the paper. Even though the two kept running, Tonya hoped she would read the paper and not think she was a threat. Her hearing was super sensitive and the sounds of the growling and snarling behind her made her heart knock hard in her chest and her hands tremble.
