Considered to be by far the most taboo and forsaken of the Zykla. Unlike the beloved Oracles who focus on the present and future predictions, the Unspoken reach beyond the veil of death for answers untold; secrets from the past, and forbidden knowledge. Informants for the dead, restoring temporary life, and soul-collectors. These particular Zykla are few and far between, deriving typically from a tragic birth with the innate ability to sense the souls still lingering within the void between life and death; hidden from both Luna and Solis.

  • SUMMONING RITUAL
A circle is cast around the Unspoken Zykla using their Bloodforce, often with sigils around the circumference as a protection against the potential backlash and ill-intent from the reanimated body or worse. A blood sacrifice is required for this ritual, self or otherwise to assist with the Zykla's Bloodforce, but also as an offering to the dead they're about to summon. The Unspoken then casts their Soul Shroud ability onto the body, calling the soul back to it's corpse.

  • With the soul now returned, the Unspoken Zykla can ask their desired questions - but cleverly and with haste as their Bloodforce not only drains away, but they are also putting their own soul at risk. The longer the soul remains in the realm of the living, the risk of the Unspoken's soul being dragged back to the other side greatly increases. The soul can only provide knowledge of what it once knew in life and the past. It doesn't have to answer truthfully if it recognizes the Unspoken as an enemy. (ie: Opposite deity). Alternatively - what information the Unspoken can get from the soul will vary, their answers can be short and sometimes cryptic.

  • The Body: The fresher the body, the greater the success. The body gives the semblance of life and intelligence. However, movements are not fluid or swift but rather slow, languished, and stiff. Caution is still very much a necessity.

The Bones: The more bones the better and easier it will be to call upon the soul. However, if the soul has been gone for a vast number of years and their skeletal structure is strewn, a larger bone or a skull has a better effect on the Unspoken's desires. In which case, if the Unspoken Zykla is successful in their conjuring, the soul will manifest as an astral spirit.

  • WORDS OF CAUTION
Do not ask what lies beyond the veil of the living. Beneath the guise of cautionary tales and legends repeated only between wary elders, there are whispers of the Unspoken. Faint retellings of their rituals gone awry masked behind folklore to warn future generations of the danger they pose. For while the Unspoken were swallowed by their own folly, they left in their wake an Anathema of existence. Beyond plague and fire, beyond death and sorrow. All that it left were the barely coherent scraps of truth gleaned from the utter madness it wrought now veiled by the passage of time.

Additionally, time spent in the company of the dead during this ritual must be restricted as much as possible. A bridge once built can be traveled both ways. Even without one's notice, every moment of the ritual will draw the Unspoken closer to the other side. Once across, their soul will be lost and irretrievable, even by another Unspoken. They will be deathless and adrift where they do not belong.

  • SOUL SHROUD
Like a wave, the bloodforce flows from the palms and fingertips of the Unspoken and washes over the body or bones of the dead target. Every fiber of the being is infuriated with the bloodforce as it beckons the soul to return to the living world and ultimately to its former body (or bones). Soul Shroud can not be used safely without a Summoning Ritual. While the ability's effects can be successful, using the ability outside of the ritual virtually targets the Unspoken's soul as a beacon for the taking.

    HOLLOWED LIFE
The risks of the other side are not to be trifled with. Every action makes ripples that can and will draw unwanted attention, but for the careful and the frugal, small comforts can be won over with negligible repercussions. The bones of a small pet, for example. No larger than a rat, bird, or small cat, a fleeting life called back and sustained by the simple rune carved into their skull and fed by the Unspoken Zykla's own Bloodforce.
  • SOUL SHARDS
There are ways to steal things even from beyond the cordon of death and while these practices take time, bloodforce, and resource in excess, it is nothing the Unspoken are not already accustomed to.

A crystal must be fashioned from mine to ritual with the expressed purpose of building a trap, any deviation of intent not only weakens the vessel but puts the Unspoken at great risk of reprisal. Once acquired, the crystal must be charged with a deep well of bloodforce, not only to attune it to the Unspoken but to create a space where the spirit may not notice it has been lured into.

Brought to the summoning ritual, a soul may be lured over top of it before the trap is sprung and the Unspoken's built up bloodforce envelops the spirit, severing the soul's connection to the realm of the dead and anchoring it to the crystal in question. So long as the crystal is charged with bloodforce, the spirit will remain sealed away at the Unspoken's discretion for however long they can or choose to maintain it.

An extraordinarily rare talent among Zykla that allows those privileged few to affect vulnerable minds. Unlike Oracles who can walk amongst dreams of a host, Dreambane Zykla are unable to change or tweak a dream/nightmare but harness the ability to remove snippets or ultimately entire dreams/nightmares and memories from the consenting host's mind. It is to be noted, Dreambane Zykla can not reap their own dreams/nightmares or memories. This ability can be learned like any Bloodforce ability. However, Zykla not originally gifted with Dreambane seem to have a far steeper learning curve and less effective outcome.

    REQUIREMENTS
Dreambane requires the host to be at rest and in a deep sleep for the aiding Zykla to work diligently. The ritual begins with the practicing Zykla placing two fingers upon either the host's temple or the center of the host's brow; reaching into the depths of the host's mind. As the host slips into a deep sleep, their brain waves slow down, allowing the dream/nightmare to become more accessible. Once the dream/nightmare has been seized, the practicing Zykla will slowly retract their touch, pulling along a cascading tether of Glitterdust and the intertwining dream/nightmare.

Zykla who are born with Dreambane can extend the ability further into removing dreams/nightmares and a memory from a host. Unlike removing a dream or nightmare, the practicing Zykla is recommended to do a memory removal slowly over a series of sessions rather than a single sitting. Memory removal requires the elimination of the finer details, demanding that the aiding Zykla practices patience until the host sinks into a reality-like dream-state. Overlooking the faintest crumb of a memory can cause a rippling effect that will ultimately undo the Zykla's costly work and render any affects null. Once the memory or dream/nightmare is extracted, it is to be conserved in a container. E.g. a jar or bottle, and sealed with the Zykla's tar saliva. Though there is always a risk with practicing Dreambane.
    RISKS
While bleed over is uncommon, it is equally unpredictable. A practicing Dreambane Zykla may unintentionally absorb fragments of the memory or nightmare, completely unaware as it lies dormant in their psyche for weeks or months before seeding and presenting itself in the Zykla's own memories and dreams. This is but one of the side effects of practicing Dreambane.

Removal of a memory, dream, or nightmare inherently does damage to the Dreambane Zykla's psyche and physical form. The practicing Zykla will become lethargic in addition to bouts of insomnia and restlessness. Recovery is possible, however, only by providing substantial and commendable sacrifices to their chosen deity. A single session with Dreambane will drain the aiding Zykla's Bloodforce reserves, forcing them to replenish in order to practice again. However, if the Zykla continues to exceed the limits and boundaries too often while practicing Dreambane, their grip on reality will begin to blur; dancing a fine line between fabrication and truth.
