Sudros has a subarctic climate. If you'd like to imagine Sudros in the world within Furcadia, it would be located in between Kasuria and the Olde World in the upper north hemisphere. There is an aurora borealis that is visible during the winter months of Sudros. The country also experiences the midnight sun, a natural phenomenon that occurs in the summer months when the sun remains visible at midnight, on the far northern island of
mafa faso or "Red Mountain" named for the islands red flowered covered mountainous appearance.
The winter is mild for its altitude. The southern lowlands of the country experience winters ranging from 32 degrees Fahrenheit to 10 degrees Fahrenheit. The lowest temperatures in the northern country range from 5 degrees to a low of -10 degrees Fahrenheit. Summers are mild and a thankful reprieve from the cold chill of winter in Sudros. Summers range from a mild 50 degrees Fahrenheit to a high of 77 degrees.
Inland Sudros experiences abrupt and dramatic changes in weather that can reduce visibility, increase wind speeds, precipitation and shift temperatures. Generally, these high wind speeds are only found in the highland areas of Sudros which are kept to the inner most interior of the country, however wind speeds can reach up to 40 mph at least 15 to 24 times a year. Thunderstorms are extremely rare, with fewer than 5 storms a year on the southern half of the country. They can be found happening in early summer from the warm air coming in from neighboring countries south of Sudros.
