Jessica Krasnoff wasn't exactly a nomadic individual or a doomsday prepper. What she was, was glad she had loaded what little she had into her black four-door truck, installed a gun safe in the back; as well as a cab. To keep anything she keeps back there from getting rained on. One might ask that if all of Jessie's possessions were in her truck, wouldn't it be easy to steal? Not when the woman spent time in a secret government organization and managed to make a friend that mad given her truck a few upgrades. You're welcome for putting up with your warmongering bullshit, thank you for supplying these gadgets and widgets. It didn't hurt matters when Jessie found herself driving through an inter-dimensional portal to another reality, so if anyone was upset that she had made off with experimental technology, they wouldn't be able to find her. That's what you call a silver lining.
For the first three months after the Collision, Jessie had been doing an awful lot of digging, trying to learn just about everything she could about where she found herself, and where she was in this reality. Her official military transcript listed her as killed in action by enemy combatants in Afghanistan, but her instincts told her to do more digging. She talked to the people from her unit, each of who were surprised to hear from her, and some had straight up asked if she was gay. She could hear the tension in that question, and when she declined to clarify with an answer, they had hung up. She still managed to piece together what happened, and in these dimensions, Jessie was ambushed by angry homophobes. She had fought back and dealt as much damage to those fuckers as she could before they killed her. So much for Semper fi. She took comfort in the fact that the other half of her unit tried to get revenge on her murderers. This information was cataloged in Jessie's brain before she had moved onto her family. Her father was still a general, but thankfully, didn't have his ego increased by being place in charge of Space Force; learning of a TV show of that name. Her mom was still a state senator for Texas. Her brothers were all married, and her ex-boyfriend was in a good relationship. Bully for him. There was one other connection she had, that she could have looked into, but she didn't feel like she at the right too.
After her searching for her family was done, Jessie took up an exciting career of bounty hunting, using her information-digging skills, as well as those abilities she had been born with to track all sorts of folks. Some she enjoying hunting, others not so much. But a job's a job.
