The Undercity

Leftovers from The Great Seattle Fire of 1889 that changed the young port city forever. For just $35, one can take a tour of some of the remnants that have been left behind & even catch a selfie with some skeletal “seamstresses” of days past. Uneven, cobblestone streets lead you through a ghost town complete with rebuilt storefronts to illustrate what the city once was. But beyond the tour path lies a series of tunnels that snakes it’s way under most of the Queen Anne, Capitol Hill & South Lake Union neighborhoods. No one knows what lies in these tunnels today - & if they do, they know not to talk about it.

Seattle's Cellar : The primary storage & commerce center of the Undercity. If not for the utter lack of a skyline, one could easily confused the various & amalgamous structures and signage for a metropolitan melting pot. On closer inspection, it becomes more obvious that an unseen force has stitched together an array of architectural styles, some seemingly directly emulated from the past, and others still taking new and unpredictable shapes. Several seams , welds, & supports maintain the integrity of this borderline cartoonish burrough, & adding to the patchwork aesthetic of the area, even the minerals in the walls swirl together in unnatural and never before seen ways.
If you've come here, you're either a local looking for supplies, or an outsider looking for something very specific.

The Trenches: Referred to as 'The Gates' on occasion as well, this area is the main and theorized only entrance to the Morlock's haven. This area- once one manages to work their way into the darkest depths- will find a minor city growing and developing its own Burroughs and districts. Discarded automobiles, storefronts and numerous other objects from a past life suggest that things were abandoned at the drop of a hat. Eerie and perhaps foreboding, the Trenches are often a winding maze of ruin that requires a Morlock to properly guide you into the city or you run the risk of being forever lost in the caverns.

The Dropoff: The literal 'edge' of the city where it seems to fall into oblivion. Steep crags, buildings and structures sticking from the steep ledges from past collapses and landslides. Although the city doesn't appear to be falling any further into this abyss, it's dangerous to hang around. Some Morlocks rumor that there is some kind of aquatic monster in the darkness deep down but no one has been brave enough to venture out and see.

Digger's District: Named for the existence that has been literally been dug out of the ashes of the old world, Digger's District is the primary residential area for the Morlocks. Family homes have been constructed from the infrastructure of old homes and businesses, leading to a better quality of life for those that have gone beneath ground. Digger's boasts a working electrical generator system that keeps the Undercity thoroughly energized and lit up.

The Pit: A literal industrial graveyard in more ways that one. Groaning rafters and whistling holes of the steel mill can be heard in the dead of night, stirred by winds from The Dropoff. When one walks through the haunting remains of this factory wasteland they might be shocked to find animated statues caught in the actions of every day life. Not a single weeping face in sight on these immaculately crafted figures, the ashes of deceased Morlocks is mixed with the crafting cement these statues are made from. Because rather than capture them in death, they remember their friends as they were alive.

Notable Buildings/Businesses

Duffy's Hutch: This bizarrely named business is run by a very old, very grumpy Morlock named Duff who claims to have lived through the prohibition and is one of the oldest Morlock's in the established community. This stowaway pub might not need to hide its alcohol any longer, but it certainly retains the architecture and feel of the 30s speakeasy's that could be found during the era. This bar is a favorite among the community and has served on numerous occasion for a gathering point and speaking hall.
