The Warring Age and the Great Genocide

For many long centuries, racial tensions between the various people living upon the surface of Majoria has been relatively peaceful, minor skirmishes here and there would prop up from time to time, but these usually weren’t racially charged, rather these were fought for territory, resources, and wealth. It wasn’t until nearly four hundred years ago that many of Majoria’s natives began to grow fearful of the rapid reproduction and expansion of the extraterrestrial humans. When they first arrived, 4,000 years prior to the present, things seemed to be relatively peaceful at first, but like any planet, resources and space were limited and as the human race continued growing, taking more and more land with them, the natives grew resentful and frightened, particularly the shifter tribes had been the most affected by this expansion. As a result of inbreeding between them and the humans, their population has been ever so slowly diminishing; though they number in the billions today, if action isn’t taken, it’s likely they may end up becoming endangered or outright extinct within the next thousand years.

The worldwide conflict seemed to have arisen from a number of smaller conflicts from across the world. The first was the beginning of Pavonis’ conquest of the Auriga Continent. They’d quickly march across the continent, pushing many native tribes back, forcing them to either just accept their new masters or fight back, many of them choosing the latter. Elsewhere in the continent of Tucana, the Kingdom of Scuti was undergoing the first of the three Civil Wars; this one as a result of the humans revolting against ineffective, oppressive shifter kings. This later sparked numerous conflicts across the conflicts, with humans and nonhumans alike fighting with each other, though the causes of these skirmishes as of today are unclear. The bloody plague eventually made its way to the continents of Andromeda and Cassiopeia where the world would plummet into a three century long period of conflict, the humans and nonhumans fighting with each other in an effort to ensure their people dominated from there on. This Age would become known as the Warring Age with the largest of these conflicts becoming known as the Great Genocide. Primarily fought between humans and various shifter tribes, each seeking dominance over the other.

No one is entirely sure when the Great Genocide ended, some scholars argue that the conflict isn’t entirely over given the conflicts in Scuti, Krita, and across the Auriga, Tucana, and Andromeda continents. Many scholars believe that the Great Genocide could entirely resurface very soon, with most pointing their fingers at the Empire of Pavonis.

Though the exact end of the conflict is currently debated, many agree that the major worldwide conflicts ended nearly three centuries later in an event that’d become known as the Formation. Many of the more influential nations began to develop into the forms they’re known as today. Betelgeuse, Canis Majoris, and Sirius began to expand across Andromeda, absorbing and annexing smaller states that made up the continent.

The Great Genocide left many of the races that once thrived and prospered throughout the world as a shell of what they once were. The Kino and Hirvane were reduced to small populations that now live in hiding across Tucana, the fairies and elves had also gone into hiding, though their numbers have slowly recovered since then. The race now known as the Subterraneans were thought to have been wiped out; there’s very little evidence of their lives prior to their escape into what is now known as the Crimson Labyrinth in Canis Majoris. The Crystalline and Aero races were thought to have gone extinct as well, no trace of either race has been seen since the end of the conflict. Human populations had greatly suffered as did the populations of many shifter tribes; the Spilosoma Moth Tribe in particular was entirely wiped out. Many reptilian and avian shifter tribes were greatly reduced, leaving mostly mammalian and arthropod shifters as the dominant tribes.

With the end of the Great Genocide came a century long era of rebuilding known as the Recovery Age with Majorians beginning to try and find ways to ensure the Warring Age never returns to their world.
