BASICS

The continent of Andromeda is one of four continents across the world of Majoria; it occupies much of the northeastern hemisphere and is the second smallest of the four continents. The seven countries are home to just 450 million people, with humans and shifters making up the majority of the population. The continent boasts the world's largest phoenix population, with much of it concentrated around Carllow Island. The continent is famous for its innumerable natural resources and vast wealth, with Canis Majoris, Spica, Betelgeuse, and Sirius all ranking in the top five in terms of total wealth, national GDP, and personal wealth. With much of the continent's landscape being dominated by vast forests and mountain ranges, Andromeda boasts a wide number of resources to be used in many of the fixtures seen across the continent and gives many countries plentiful opportunities in exportation.

TOPOGRAPHY

Many mountain ranges decorate the continent, with much of the eastern portions of Andromeda being very rugged, though things begin to flatten out the further west one travels, particularly around the Platinum Coast region of Sirius. The Empire of Spica is the most mountainous country in the world. Three major mountain ranges stretch across the continent; the Sunflower Mountains which creates the borders between Cepheis and Canis Majoris, the Central Mountains which stretch from Betelgeuse's northernmost territory all the way down to the Silver Coast region of Sirius, and lastly, the Stardust Mountains, which make up the borders of the Stardust Vale. Below the surface, Andromeda is home to a massive system of caverns that seem to originate near the Silver Vale in Canis Majoris and stretch out through most of the continent. Away from the mountains are a number of lakes, the largest of which call the western parts of the continent home. Innumerable rivers flow across the continent. For unknown reasons, the western coasts are rich in valuable metals, predominantly silver and platinum, while the eastern coasts are rich in cobalt.

CLIMATE & BIOMES

Much like the terrain, the biomes that make up the continent is relatively diverse, with much of the continent being covered in forests; predominantly temperate rainforests. Wetlands and marshes make up a considerable part of the continent. Near the coasts, large grasslands stretch across the continent, boasting near perfect environments for farming, giving both Sirius and Spica plenty of space for agriculture, though parts of Canis Majoris and Betelgeuse are used for similar purposes. The northernmost parts of the continent are bitterly cold, among the coldest places in all of Majoria, with the city of Kasa in Cepheis being the coldest city in the world. Northern Cepheis and parts of Spica's northern coast are almost permanently covered in snow. Temperatures across Andromeda are generally mild; much of the continent has very warm, wet summers and bitterly cold, wet winters. During the summer, temperatures across southern Andromeda average out at around 75°F while winter temperatures average out at around 50°F. In the north, summer temperatures typically average out at around 60°F while winter temperatures average out at around 25°F. Andromeda is known for its heavy, year round precipitation, especially near the coasts. The Great Lakes region of Sirius gains more precipitation than anywhere else in the world, averaging nearly 105 inches annually, with more than 2/3rds of it coming in the form of rain. Severe weather like hurricanes and tornadoes are rare, but not unheard of. Most tornadoes occur in the south central areas of Andromeda, while most hurricanes hit the coast of Leporis. The continent hasn't seen a strong hurricane or tornado in over four hundred years, however, thunderstorms and hailstorms are frequent.

Canis Majoris - The Land of Sunflowers (WIP)

Size: 599K mi² (4/7)

Population: 65.4M (3/7)

Capital: Camor

Largest City: Macot

Other Major Cities: Caleah, Nandolin, Wymoor, Thelladhil, Negrisa, Silver Vale

Government: Hereditary Monarchy; ruled by King Eren Severa and Queen Eden Severa

Economy (Continental Rankings - #/7): Overall GDP (3/7), Average Income (3/7), Income Equality (1/7), Unemployment Rate (1/7), Wealth Equality (2/7)

Social (Continental Rankings - #/7): Healthcare (2/7), Education (1/7), Overall Happiness (3/7), Racial Equality (6/7), Gender Equality (4/7)

International Borders: Borders Betelgeuse to the southeast and southwest, borders Cepheis to the northwest.

GOVERNMENT:
The government sits upon a hereditary monarchy with the new ruler being coronated once every 35 years. At the end of their 35 year reign, the crown is passed to the eldest child, however, the child will only officially succeed once they've turned 16, should they be under that mark, the crown's advisor will take over until the child is old enough. Should no successor be available, either due to age or other circumstances, the crown's advisor permanently takes over and a new royal bloodline starts. This hasn't happened since the end of the Warring Age when Queen Crystal Herrera died without any heirs to the throne. Since then, the Severa family has ruled over Canis Majoris since the start of the Recovery Age. Presently, King Eren Severa rules over the Land of Sunflowers alongside his wife Eden Severa. They've since given birth to a pair of twins, Jack and Crystal, it's currently unclear of who will succeed the throne.

Each ruler has seven advisors, each aiding them in discussing problems, solutions, and in general advising them in different sectors of the country, each of these advisors are appointed by the newly crowned ruler several days prior to their coronation. The Ministers of Education, Finance, Welfare, Religion, Diplomacy, Technology, and Infrastructure each play key parts in the nation's development.

Beyond the royal crown, each of the seven counties have a County Commissioner who govern them, making up laws, overseeing the citizens overall wellbeing, and in generally ensuring the county is well taken care of. Unlike the King and Queen, County Commissioners are democratically elected by citizens once every seven years; no Commissioner may run for more than three terms, and they can be voted out if doing a poor performance. There have even been occasions where the reigning ruler have had to step in and remove Commissioners. Upon their election, these officials are sworn in; they recite an oath, swear undying loyalty to the crown, and undying loyalty to the people.

Outside the mainland, there are the Falrial and Athacier Territories; though they fall under the jurisdiction of Canis Majoris and answer to the crown, the politics of the islands have remained largely unchanged since their annexation. Both islands are ruled by Chiefs that are selected once every decade following a battle between each of the tribe leaders, the survivor of these battles will rule over the island until the next tournament. Should they die prior to the next battle, the tournament will be held a bit earlier than before. The Athacier Island is ruled by Chief Judith of the Monarch Tribe, though her reign is coming to a close as the next tournament is only months away. Falrial is currently ruled by Chief Harrison of the Luna Tribe.

THE PEOPLE OF CANIS MAJORIS:
The country's nickname; the Land of Sunflowers originates from the nation's reverence of nature. The country blends a near perfect example of technological advancement and environmental conservation. The people of Canis Majoris often work hard to ensure the nation's pristine forests, beaches, lakes, and rivers remain that way. Their love of nature is evident in many of the nation's cities, especially that of Caleah, one of Canis Majoris' largest cities; popularly known as the City of Gardens. Thanks to influence from the Dusk Space Federation, Canis Majoris has made impressive leaps in technology, but even with these massives strides in advancements, they've always been careful not to upset the balance of nature.

The people of Canis Majoris are known for a very strong work ethic, believing that only through hard work, determination, and perseverance will a person succeed. If a person isn't willing to work hard, they aren't likely to make it far in the Land of Sunflowers. Though hard workers, they population is generally known for having kind, stout hearts, always willing to help others. Courage and honor are highly respected values, and regardless of what a person's career path is like, they'll be expected to tackle each day with a strong will, no matter what's ahead of them.

Family is extremely important to the people of Canis Majoris; the love between partners is often eternal, with many citizens sticking to one partner for life, only remarrying should their partner die. Domestic abuse is relatively uncommon, though perpetrators who are caught and proven to indeed be abusers are often severely punished, often facing many years in prison, sometimes longer depending on how severe the abuse was. Children are held up in high regards with many laws being in place to ensure children grow up safe and happy. Much like domestic abusers, child abusers are often severely punished. Divorce, while not illegal, is frowned upon in most circles, with the only socially acceptable excuses being those who came from abusive relationships. Though familial bonds are highly valued, friendships are just as important.

Crime in Canis Majoris is relatively uncommon; the nation holds some of the lowest crime rates in the world; including the lowest violent crime rate in the world. Murder, rape, and assault are extremely rare. Despite these low crime rates, the nation seems to be a hotbed for slavery and kidnappings, with these crimes frequently occurring near the city of Cacot, though law enforcement agencies and the Federation are trying their hardest to stop the human trafficking epidemic. Humans make up the largest racial majority of Canis Majoris.

CLIMATE & LANDSCAPE:
Canis Majoris boasts a relatively temperate climate with mild summers and mild winters. Caleah and Wymoor Counties tend to be a bit warmer than the rest of the country, with temperatures generally averaging out at 75°F during the summer and around 45°F during the winter. The rest of the country, especially Negrisa County tend to be a bit colder, with temperatures averaging out at 60°F in the summer and 35°F during the winter. Like much of Andromeda, the country frequently has very wet seasons with fairly high humidity, particularly in Caleah County. On average, the nation receives over 65 inches of precipitation annually, with much of it coming in the form of snow during the late winter months. Severe thunderstorms and hailstorms are common during the late spring and early summer months, with most of them occurring near the coasts of Camor and Macot Counties. The Falrial and Athacier Islands tend to be relatively cold, though their weather is generally calm and mild year round with temperatures rarely rising above 50°F, even during the summer.

Canis Majoris boasts a relatively flat, even landscape, especially in the central areas of the country. At the borders, however, are two separate mountain ranges; to the west are the Sunflower Mountains, creating the border between Canis Majoris and Cepheis. It is the smallest range in the world, while to the south and east are the Central Mountains, partially forming the borders between them and Betelgeuse. The further north one goes, the flatter the country becomes, with the city of Negrisa having the lowest elevation of any settlement in the world. Much of the country is covered in thick, dense forests, this is largely due to the country's conservationist ways; for every tree that's cut down, five more are planted in its place.

ECONOMY & TECHNOLOGY:
Even prior to the arrival of the Dusk Space Federation, Canis Majoris had long been among the continent's most technologically advanced nations, with it being a trendsetter in many areas. Many of their advancements had gone into improving agriculture, transportation, and defense; the latter being a more recent trend as a result of the war with Cepheis and the growing threat of Scuti. Firearms first appeared in the Silver Vale, though up until the arrival of the Federation, these firearms were experimental, dangerous, and extremely expensive. Following the Federation's arrival, they would continue to be trendsetters thanks to having access to many of the Federation's advancements.

Much like most of Andromeda, Canis Majoris boasts an incredibly strong and diverse economy with mining, fishing, agriculture, and manufacturing. The cities of Caleah, Silver Vale, and Macot are among the world's wealthiest cities with the latter often ranking within the top three. Thanks to the mountains on the country's borders, they've got nearly unlimited access to the a number of valuable resources, with the mountains near Macot being rich in gold, platinum, and precious gems while the mountains near the Silver Vale being rich in silver, iron, aluminum, and copper. The central regions, away from the mountains largely thrive upon a strong agricultural industry, with wheat, soy, and timber being the dominating exports. Fishing is an important industry for many coastal cities. Though not a major industry, tourism plays an important roles for many cities; Caleah and Thelladhil in particular benefit greatly from tourism. Since joining the Federation, the nation's economy has skyrocketed and Canis Majoris is enjoying a time of prosperity like never before, though the war with Cepheis and tensions with Spica do threaten the economic growth.
RELIGION:
Like most of Majoria, religion plays an important role in the country's culture and development, though Canis Majoris doesn't have an official religion, the Elemental Guardians; particularly Azure, Leafia, Soleria, and Stella are prominent figures within the kingdom's mythology, and this is largely due the people's reverence of nature and the stars. Though the stars and planets play a significant role in the cultures of many countries around the world, the people of Canis Majoris have deified many of them and for much of the country's history, they have been worshiped and praised. Majoria's closest neighbor in particular has played a key role in the nation's mythology, often playing a role in the various creation myths across the cultures that exist within its borders. The sun has long played a central role in the nation's mythology, largely being the reason the country so greatly reveres sunflowers and many other plants. With the arrival of the Federation, worship of the cosmos has slowed down, though the people of the nation still revere the stars.

HISTORY:
Canis Majoris is the second oldest country in all of Andromeda, younger than only Leonis itself, formed in the early months of the year 2210 by human settlers who had arrived from Leonis to the south. After arriving in what would become the Silver Vale in Thelladhil County, these settlers would make a living through digging up valuable ores and by toiling the land, using the fertile landscape as a safe haven for agriculture. Much of Canis Majoris' early history was dominated by an expansionist period, starting in 2210 and eventually ending in the year 2280 with the nation now stretching across much of northern Andromeda, bordered by Neugebauer to the west, Orion to the south, and Sword to the east. Once the country had finished its expansion, it would enter a rather quiet period where little would happen. In between the Horizon and Warring Ages, the nation had largely fallen into obscurity despite the vast amount of wealth it boasted and the incredible influence it would hold in the future. During this time, the cities of Camor, Nandolin, Macot, Caleah, Thelladhil Wymoor, and Negrisa had been founded, each of them quickly becoming incredible important settlements of the each, with them play vital roles in the nation's culture and economy.

Even when the Warring Age started, Canis Majoris remained relatively quiet thanks to a strong economy, resounding equality, and an abundance of resources, it had little reason to get involved in the affairs of the other nations around Andromeda. However, in the year 5660, the northern half of Canis Majoris had begun to grow restless, with many historians citing cultural differences, difficulty in governing the north due to the Sunflower Mountains and icy waters that separated the two caused a number of secessionist movements to sprout up all across what would eventually become Cepheis. Though the Sunflower Kingdom was hesitant to let go of the territory to the vast amount of wealth it boasted, the eventually released its grip on the territory, giving birth to the Republic of Cepheis in 5665. For the next twelve years, Canis Majoris would once again become relatively quiet, though as its southern neighbor in Orion, now named Betelgeuse, had begun to grow restless, starting their own expansion. Unlike the relatively peaceful expansion Canis Majoris went through, Betelgeuse aimed to take what it wanted through war. Fortunately, at the time, Betelgeuse didn't seem to interested in its northern neighbor, likely due to the mountains that separated them. Concerns and fears of potential wars breaking out at Canis Majoris' border with the Kingdom of Neugebauer, they had developed a defensive pact with the Kingdom of Sirius, aiming to ally with one another in case they were targeted by Betelgeuse's expansion.

Since signing the defensive pact, the two nations have been strong allies with each other. Fortunately, neither nation would be attacked by Betelgeuse as the larger nation focused primarily on an eastward expansion, likely to combat the expansion of the Empire of Spica. While much of the world was plagued by chaos and devastating wars, Canis Majoris managed to get through the Warring Age and Great Genocide relatively unscathed. Though it lost nearly half of its territory thanks to Cepheis splitting off, it had made it to the Recovery Age in near perfect shape, considerably better than many of its allies. Following the start of the Recovery Age, Betelgeuse would join the Pact in an effort to ensure that Spica's growth doesn't get out of control. Throughout much of the Recovery Age, Canis Majoris would again be relatively quiet in spite of economic growth and its growing international influence. Between 5931 and 5936, the islands of Athacier and Falrial would be absorbed into the country.

Despite many centuries of peace between Canis Majoris and Cepheis, the newly elected president of the Republic had desired to expand Cepheis' borders, aiming to pick up more land for his people. Late in the Recovery Age, Nokadosa Island was annexed by Cepheis and soon after the Dawn Age began, following the end of a territorial dispute with Sirius over Plymouth Island, they would attack the city of Serentias, aiming to take it along with the rest of Nandolin County. Falrial and Athacier would suffer similar attacks, though the defensive pacts with Sirius and Betelgeuse prompted the two nations to aid the Sunflower Kingdom in their battle, this being the first major war in the country long history. The war would largely be a standstill as neither side was making significant dents in their opponents. Despite the ongoing conflicts, the country, and much of Majoria would be met with the shocking appearance of the Dusk Space Federation, a massive organization seemingly bent on colonizing all of the galaxy in the year 6011. This would mark the Federation's first appearance in the system in over 4,000 years, and the first official appearance.

In the year 6012, another war broke out, this time when Queen Eden had been unexpectedly kidnapped by the King of Tirithill; following the year long dispute, it would end with heavy sanctions placed upon the kingdom and the return of their beloved queen. Two years later in 6014, King Eren Severa would be one of many leaders to sign the Clinton Annexation Pact, binding the country to the laws and regulations of the Federation in exchange for having near limitless access to the resources and wealth of nearly one hundred planets across the Federation. Signing the Pact had ended the war with Cepheis in 6015. With peace returning to the nation once again, and with the Federation's influences Canis Majoris' own wealth and international influence practically skyrocketing, even more so thanks to the founding of both the Andromeda and Majoria Headquarters being located within its borders, later the Federation would open one of two Majorian Ship Maintenance and Manufacturing Plants in Macot, further boosting its already powerful economy with the addition a host of new career opportunities for people. Today, the country is enjoying a time of great peace and prosperity, and for as long as its loyalties remain tied to the Federation, it'll likely remain this way for a long time.

Caleah County:

Size: 116K mi²

Population: 16.6M

County Commissioner: Albert Howard

Caleah: Popularly known as the City of Gardens, Caleah is one of the largest cities in all of Andromeda and second largest in Canis Majoris, only behind the city of Border Rock in Betelgeuse. The city is famous for its many large gardens that decorate the city's landscape. Its warm, wet climate provides the city with the perfect environment to ensure that the many plants the dot the city's landscape. Caleah is often considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world, a frequent stop for tourists from all over the world. It is the southernmost city in the country and it serves as the capital of Caleah County. Recently, the City of Gardens had been chosen as the home for Majoria's International Federation Headquarters, giving the city's economy and influence a huge boost.

Starpoint: A small town that's home to one of four major observatories across the country, this one being the North Caleah Star Observatory. It's used to map out deep space, revealing the location of hidden stars throughout the galaxy. Since the Federation arrived on Majoria, the NCS Observatory had quickly become one of the most advanced of its kind. Researchers in Starpoint were credited with the discovery of the Federation's designated 10th system; System Monroe, a solar system of approximately eight planets roughly 450 light years away from Majoria.

Chiford: A small farming community that sits upon the eastern edges of Caleah County. The small village is home to one of the country's largest farming systems, being responsible for growing and distributing much of the nation's corn, cabbage, tomato, and potato crops.

Starview: The smallest settlement in Caleah County, another important city for astronomical research. The Starview Planetary Observatory is located in the heart of the city, being used to study the planets of the Aegiulus system in full detail. Researchers here were responsible for the discovery of Phoroneus.

Camor County:

Size: 96K mi²

Population: 13.4M

County Commissioner: Mario Stanton

Selene: The smallest settlement in all of Canis Majoris, and one of the smallest in all of Andromeda. Though the village is relatively small, boasting a population of less than 1,000 people, it's been known for impressive achievements in the culinary arts. Most notably, the Lawson Family Brewery, famous for its Apple Ale brand, was founded in the village. It's also home to a number of large farms, supplying much of the country with a variety of fruits and animal products.

Edas: Another small farming settlement similar to Selene. The citizens primarily cultivate wheat, vegetables, cotton, and silk. The small town is home to the Central Majoris Inn & Tavern, a popular stop for travelers coming in from the southern counties.

Lakehorn: This slowly deteriorating city had received its name for the large lake that once sat near it, though as it began to dry up, commerce and agriculture soon followed, with the landscape being among the least fertile across the continent. Those who remain behind are tirelessly trying to revive the dying lake, and with the help of the Dusk Space Federation, this might be a possibility. Until that day comes, this city will be nothing more than a pile of lifeless dirt.

Camor: The capital of Canis Majoris and one of the cultural centers of both Canis Majoris and the continent; being home to diverse population of people from all over the world. It is home to the renowned Sunflower Festival, a week long festival culminating in the celebration of the new year. People from all over gather for a multitude of games, food, and when the new year hits, a glass of specially made Sunflower Wine is given out to attendees.
