Empire of Scadia
Born from the ashes of the Feyhund Civil War in 3E 190, the Empire of Scadia was founded by the rebels who rejected the ideals of Arinus. They forged their own path in the untamed lands of southeastern Anspora, building a society that values strength, ambition, and conquest above all else. Today, Scadia stands as a militaristic empire where the strong rule and the weak are cast aside, a land of warriors, battle-mages, and warlords who seek to expand their dominion through both might and strategy.

Culture
Scadia is a militaristic, disciplined, and hierarchical society where strength, power, and ambition define one’s status. Unlike Arinus, which values beauty and tradition, Scadia prioritizes strength, order, and progress. It is a land where duty outweighs desire, and one's worth is measured by their contributions to the empire. Scadia values power, ambition, and dominance. Its culture is built on merit and strength—only the most capable rise. Leadership is contested and dynamic, as nobles frequently challenge each other for influence. Scadians see war and conquest as a natural way to prove their strength.
-
🛡️ Core Values
→ Strength Above All - Physical, magical, and political power determine one’s worth. Nobles and commoners alike must prove themselves through action, not birth alone.
→ Hierarchy & Discipline - The empire runs on rigid order, with every citizen drilled in their place—from war colleges to battlefields to noble courts.
→ Ambition with Duty - Glory is not for self-aggrandizement, but to strengthen the empire. Loyalty is expected, and betrayal is met with swift, often public, punishment. -
⚖️ Philosophy & Faith
The Scadians worship the same gods as Arinus, but with darker interpretations:
→ Áine (Fire) – The Goddess of War and Dominion.
→ Laughan (Light) – The Bringer of Victory.
→ Eyla (Shadows) – The Patron of Assassins and Strategists.
→ Achobai (Mind) – The Seer of Fate and Battle Wisdom.
→ Light represents victory and dominance, not peace.
→ Mind and Shadow are tools for control, not reflection. -
🗡️ Culture & Custom
→ Gladiatorial combat, military parades, and duels are central to daily life and entertainment.
→ The Trials of Dominion and The Colosseum of Kings showcase the strongest, who may rise to nobility by triumph.
→ Art and beauty exist, but they are expressions of dominance—armor engraved with victories, statues of conquerors, banners dyed in the blood of war. -
⚔️Traditions
To prove one’s worth, Scadians participate in ritualistic trials.
→ The Trials of Dominion (Dawnlight Festival) – A contest of magic, combat, and leadership.
→ The Emberheight Rite – A fire-walking trial in the Blazing Maw, proving a warrior’s resilience.
→ The Blood Oath Ceremony – A ritual where warriors bond through combat, forging unbreakable alliances.
→ The Twilight Hunt (Silentveil Month) – A sacred hunt where warriors track and eliminate threats to the empire.
-
🏛️ Social Structure
→ The Emperor rules by might and mandate, with power centralized in the throne.
→ The High Council of Noble Houses—each commanding aspects of war, economy, magic, and law—compete fiercely but serve the imperial vision.
→ The Legatus Order enforces rule with elite warriors and mages.
→ Titles can be earned, not just inherited, through military victories, magical feats, or political cunning. -
👑Imperial Court & Nobility
Scadia operates under an imperial monarchy, with power centralized in the hands of the Emperor and Empress. Unlike Arinus, which values beauty, harmony, and tradition, Scadia prioritizes strength, ambition, and authority. The empire is built on a hierarchical system where power is respected above all, and those who prove themselves worthy—through combat, strategy, or magical prowess—can rise in rank.
The Imperial Court is composed of powerful noble houses that advise the emperor but also compete for influence. Nobility in Scadia is not entirely hereditary—titles can be earned or lost through service to the empire, conquest, or exceptional feats. This allows for an elite that is constantly tested, ensuring that only the strong remain in power.
→ The High Council - A ruling body of six noble families, each overseeing different aspects of governance, such as warfare, economy, magic, and law. They answer directly to the emperor but wield significant influence.
→ The Legatus - A prestigious military order made up of high-ranking generals and battle-mages, responsible for enforcing imperial rule.
→ The Magisterium - A council of scholars, tacticians, and elemental specialists who research new applications of magic and strategy.
→ The Flamebearers - A religious order dedicated to the Scadian gods, especially Beira (Air & Storms) and Áine (Fire & Power). They act as both spiritual guides and political players. -
🔥 Magic & Warfare
→ Magic is a weapon, not a philosophy. Fire and Earth are the most revered elements—tools of war, conquest, and survival.
→ Scadian academies teach combat and strategy first, with magic as a tool of precision and force.
→ Necromancy, shadow, and mind magic are used without moral restraint, as long as they serve imperial goals.
