Here's a list of all the jobs, most of which are open for occupation. This list can be added to if something comes up that is needed!
Farmer
Farmers are typically passive providers for the community. They can farm anything that does not require combat, or very little athletic skill. This can be farming anything from passive shellfish, kelp, coral, algaes and seaweeds. Their title would be adjusted based on what they sell, for example, Kelp Farmer, Oyster Farmer, etc. Their jobs usually allow them to occupy a space of land that is considered their own, part of their property.
Current Farmers:
Fishermen
Fishermen are a slightly more athletic, but relatively passive trade. Fishermen are usually solo or duo partners who hunt smaller game fish, usually not larger than themselves. These often use traps, nets, spears and specialist techniques to trap smaller quarry. Fishermen often go where the fish are, so the job can be a little taxing, and over-fishing is highly looked down upon. For this reason, most fishermen have a side hustle of some kind.
Current Fishermen:
Reclaimer
Scavengers by a better name. Sometimes, the walkers from above rain down their treasures in the form of shipwrecks. Reclaimers are recognized recyclists who find these wrecks and recover useful goods, such as coins, weapons, any valuable tools and return them to the community for use, trade, or sell. They can sell their goods for profit or provide them to the community in return for goods like food, tools, or shelter. They sometimes work to help provide Tradewalkers with goods to sell on land.
Current Reclaimers:
Aquatisan
A craftsman that specializes in creating items from beneath the waves. The ocean will provide, and with it, these master artisans create works of art and versatility. From weapons to tools, baskets, clothing, furniture, bedding or shelter, there is remarkably little that cannot be labeled an Aquatisan if it is manufactured beneath the waves. Like Farmers, Aquatisan's titles are modified by their specialty. For example, an Aquatisan that specializes in building shelters might be called a Homestead Aquatisan. The specific title is up to you to choose, but it must be approved during the application process.
Tradewalker
Those that dare to walk. These are the more amphibic of the valley who do not shy from walking on land, talking, and most importantly, trading with land walkers. These special few are responsible for exporting water goods to landfolk, and conversely, importing land goods to the waterbound. They are the link between two worlds, the brave, sturdy, well spoken businessmen with cunning, keen minds. They are quick to notice danger and find a way out as quickly as possible- without risking the lives of the waterfolk. Although they walk on land, their loyalty is never in question. This job can be dangerous, so Tradewalkers should be excellent bargainers of special intellect and more advanced knowlege of walkers, and their desires, than most.
Tidewarden
The Valley's esteemed border patrol. They are not alone in the waters, there are predators beyond the drop off, and there's predators above the waves, too. The Native Naga are a constant threat to all within the valley, and Tidewarden's sole job is to keep the Valley's borders safe from would-be threats, and report any suspicious or negative activity to higher ups if it is beyond the scope of their abilities. This is a relatively dangerous job, and as such, Tidewardens are afforded a decent shelter and ample food to keep themselves healthy for the job they perform.
Current Tidewarden:
Wavebreaker
These powerful hunters are the toughest of the tough, working to bring down massive prey in the deeper waters to the benefit of the community. They take out large threats and bring in massive prey like whales, sharks, other aquatic predators and threatening walkers or enemy ships. They do not work alone, in fact, they only work in organized pods, usually not smaller than three people, one of which being a Captain, though most are upwards of six to fifteen individuals strong. They can also be used as a backup to safeguard the valley in wartime and protect and escort citizens to safety, at the direction of their captain and Chieftain.
Wavebreaker Captain
The master strategist of the pod. This leader is in charge of keeping his pod safe, sending the right hunters to the right angles to bait the proper prey. These individuals must usually prove themselves through many battles before ascending to this rank. Sometimes, a trial is held between up and coming Wavebreakers to determine who will succeed to the rank of captain. Captains directly report to the Chieftain with hunt and expedition results.
Surftender
A healer. This crucial role is a mandatory necessity for most communities. Sicknesses and injuries are bound to happen, and when they do, Surftenders are there to aid. They are honed physicians and medics who have spent years honing their craft beneath and sometimes above the waves as well. They are versatile, and know everything from basic nutrition to sudden, lifesaving medicine. Whether it be scientific, magical, or a mix of both, Surftenders often treat injured Tidewardens and Wavebreakers, and can alert higher ups to any encroaching illnesses, and how to best eradicate them.
Diplomat
Ambassadors, Couriers and Politicians. A diplomat can go just about anywhere and converse with just about anyone, be it other aquatic species, other clans, or even to the land of the walkers. They are fluent in conversation and polite in negotiation. They know how the game is played and they rarely fail. Politicians are crucial assets used to negotiate peace between factions and serve as primary advisors to both Chieftain and some Tradewalkers. They are often the first ones to know how best to approach an offer between factions, and how to navigate deals and avoid disaster. They are, above and beyond all else, peacekeepers who protect the aquatics with their intellect and ever-expanding knowledge of other species and cultures.
