The World of Gods Spirits Beast and Men
Chapter 5 The Small Gods
Do not let the name deceive you, the Small Gods are every bit as powerful and devastating as their Alt counterparts. There are 3491 gods according to the Ziran belief. These gods reside in objects and watch over that domain, such as the God of Apples, God of Puddles, God of Children, God of Ears. Gods of concepts, such as ‘God of Freedom’ exist, but are incredibly uncommon. The main tenant of the Ziran religion is respect. Gods reside in all things, the most powerful king to the most lowly criminal, all beasts, the tiniest grain of sand to the sun and moon. To disrespect the home of a god is akin to disrespecting the God themselves.
Most Zirans have a shrine in their home, as do many businesses, as well as public areas. This Shrine usually contains a book listing all the known gods. The book, despite being the cornerstone of religious knowledge is considered ‘incomplete’. Some gods have a name listed, along with proper methods of worship. Many gods only have a partial entry, some have only their domain listed. The shrine is usually
decorated with candles, beads, and other religious iconography. It often seems random which gods have detailed entries, and critics of the religion often laugh at the fact that the 'God of Cats' has a three page entry, while the 'God of Men' has a four word entry.
There is an image of a shrine, incense is burning, a feather, oranges and a pot of windflowers sit upon it. In the background are some red, blue, green and white beads and a photograph. The caption reads: A standard household shrine.
