Most Zirans adopt a ‘patron god’ which whom they feel a particular connection. People select gods for a wide range of reasons. They can be very literal - such as a sailor picking the God of Sailors, or more abstract such as somebody who values friendship and loyalty picking the God of Dogs. Sometimes whole families will consider the same god a patron.

It is very common for people have a God they share with others (known as a 'Face God'), but a more personal god they keep to themselves
(called a 'True God'). People often change their patron god during their lifetime -for example, a woman may decide to change to the God of Mothers when she has given birth. It is a highly personal thing, and there is no canonised way to choose your patron. When somebody wants to direct their prayers towards a person, they will make an offering to that person’s patron god.

Prayers can also be made to any god which is relevant to a situation. For example, if somebody was undergoing heart surgery their friends and family may make offerings to the God of Doctors to steady the surgeon's hand, the God of Hearts the heart's health and recovery as well as to the patient’s patron god.

There is an image of a couch and a wooden cabinet. Upon the cabinet are beads, flowers and other offerings. The caption reads "A shrine in a hospital waiting room."

Oh thank you! These characters were all RPed with 😄

(Just for clarification, this isn't a new or updated page, I was editing the links so people could binge read the comics without being interrupted by filler art, and sometimes RPR decided to launch the pages onto people's feeds a second time.)

I really love and appreciate the depth you've put into worldbuilding details like this. It's a setting I could see myself getting immersed in as an RPer. Very inspiring!
