"Then we will fight! Fight to the death if we must! We will rally the others and we will win! She will not remain leader!"
A chorus of yowls broke out, the agreement ricocheting off of the walls of the cave. The tom that stood at the head was practically glowing. Silvery felines wove in and out of the group. StarClan was with them. StarClan wanted them to win!
A surge of wind driven rain spattered a few of the cats nearest the cave entrance, and they skittered more inside.
"We will go and gather our forces outside of the Clans. I will speak with the leader of the Ice Leaf Tribe. Who will go among the two legs and gather the loners?"
There was a pause before many rallied to go.
"Good! We will need to be strong! Together, we can overthrow her! Together, we can make Midnightstar fall!"
The yowling rose to an ear shattering noise. Every cat gathered was excited; at least, until they heard other yowls joining them. And then...
"Enough!"
Every cat present turned to the entrance of the cave. There, solid black, blazing amber eyes that looked red and with a group behind her that looked lethal, even though they were soaked to the bone, stood Midnightstar.
"Kill them all," and that was it. The resistance was crushed in one mighty blow. Not a cat lived. Not a son or daughter, no one. They were all killed by her and her group of followers. And the formerly named SkyClan was now MidnightClan. And Midnightstar was their leader.
Now others have begun to resent her. Others have discovered the blood soaked meeting place, the unburied bones picked of flesh and muscle and fur. The reek of death still clings to the site, but not the stench of fear. No cat died afraid that night. And that has given the new resistance courage.
