The Clockwork Horse.

A well to do merchant and supplier to the royal house is renowned for his clockwork toys. There is one in particular that not even the Sultan can afford. Nonetheless, the Sultan might demand the valuable machine as tribute during his next birthday.

The merchant will be devastated if this comes to be, it is his prized piece and was made for a ruler with a true heart, the current Sultan is not that man. He secretly arranges for the horse to be stolen and hidden away. But will his plan be successful?

This is a brief idea of a story I've had for a while. It's set in an Arabian fantasy steampunk city, surrounded by mountains, deserts and deep valleys of lush forests.

I'm looking for two, possibly three writers to portray other characters involved in the theft. My time this month is limited so this is more of an interest check.

There is no requirement that your character be from this world. The Djinni have portals that may link to other worlds and humans could have discovered and fallen through.

Eye of the Steel God is a set of short stories I wrote several years ago with the idea of a Steampunk medieval Arabian world. When we think of steampunk we automatically think of Victorian. Something different appealed to me.
I would be very much interested. I could offer whatever class is needed to balance out the party.
Thank you Falyn. The story I wrote concerns a group of rogues but each one had a particular enhanced skill. They all came from diverse backgrounds in the city but I'll wave that aside. The thieves would need to find a secure place to store the horse, a scout would be portrayed by Morhaedo. It would also require someone with archery skills, magic, healing skills and an engineer that could tinker with clockwork machines.

I'm open to other ideas but I can't reveal the traps and puzzles. The creatures encountered will be from Middle Eastern mythology and I can upload maps of the city and surroundings.
I think both Ben or his sister Rosalie might fit. They were both originally conceived for The Marcher Lands being half-Normand and half-Egyptian for the historical context, but I also have them ready for Fanatasy. Ben is a straight forward Rogue and Rosalie is an Artificer: Alchemist mostly for healing and support.
Good, good. This will be the objective. The one who can tinker with it's mechanisms will be able to ride and control it.

Very cool! :)
The Sultan will no doubt place guards in the merchant's warehouse and used mechanical watchers to keep the place secure. He'll forbid anyone to enter that part of the warehouse to view the horse. There are other mechanical creatures in the warehouse as well as precious metals and jewels. There are broaches with living eyes and keys with legs, among other wonders. :)
I was in a guild where the setting was modern horror/fanatasy. I RPed in the game world, on forms and Discord for nearly three years before it broke up and I came here afterwards, but in a lot of the investigations; we solved puzzles and did deduction work so I'll really be looking forward to seeing your world! :)
I can see the Thief influence. :)

Edit: You should stick this idea in the LF forums.
I may do. A work colleague has Covid, so it looks like my hectic month has been suspended.
This is inspiring. 17a0874248bbf1bee99cd6ad7c68898a.jpg
I like that. It's a bit like the Mechanists + Dwemer, set in an Arabian Nights world. I might be able to make a new character. A petty rogue/pick-pocket, that's been lucky enough not to get caught. :)
Good. :)

What was the guild?
Knightsbridge Consulting in The Secret World.
This Secret World? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Secret_World
Secret World Legends, but yes the guild or cabal started in the original The Secret World and transfered over to Secret World Legends which was sort of a relaunch to the original.
It's a pity it broke up. I once portrayed Captain Nemo in a small Lovecraft setting. It was fun having the Nautilus. :)

That portrayal gave me some ideas for my character Captain Black. He's in another story.

Edit: I may need to retire. I'm flagging. I was going to offer one or two of my characters if they are needed, innkeepers, or peasants.
Yes, it is a pity it broke up, it was really fun. :)
I liked the Nautilus in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. It was a bit steampunkish.
