This thread is to showcase original character art made by the authors themselves. If you would like to post your art, be my guest.

Thank you, winterblackdraoi.
I have a large number of character portraits knocking about on my laptop. I would like to share some with you and if there are any that take your fancy give me a buzz.
Most of my work is made in Artbreeder Collage. I apply my own designed background and subjects, and type in various names of artists I admire with a lot of elf prompts. Then everything gets tidied up in an art program called Gimp.

Ah, nifty! So you draw something, then feed that into Artbreeder and it renders it in more detail?
I can show some more stuff later, but for now, here is a scribble I did of this stuffy dorkus. People in the BBB thread will have already seen it.

You could put it that simple but there's a lot more work involved, creating the subjects I need before using them in the composition. I also have a couple of formulas that I adhere to mainly to achieve the desired artistic style. As for rendering more detail, some of the detail can be lost if I apply a particular technique.
I also ignore the expectations of what a character should look like. I like to give them unusual features.

Here's one of my winter fae.

Who bought the winter fae? He was gorgeous and otherworldly.
Oh, I don't doubt there's a lot of work involved! I just don't know what the whole process is, and I'm very curious about it. Can you generate portraits of existing characters, for instance? Are the inputs things you have drawn, like a background showing where to put trees and such? The results are very pretty!
Mostly what I've been doing recently are these pen-and-ink knotwork drawings. This domovoi here will sew your lost buttons back on, if you're nice to him.

I suppose you could try and generate from existing characters.
All the subjects I use like background and clutter are from photographs I've taken and scanned into one of my art programs, painted to look more like an illustration, oil painting, or left as they are and resized. I usually have in mind what I want the artwork to look like. The main subject I compose the old-fashioned way in my sketchbook and scanned in as I need a foundation to work with.
All these will be dragged and dropped into the collage and placed where necessary. I type in the prompts such as male, elf, long hair, young, etc, all the keywords that are associated with what I've collected and then I render the subject. I don't usually take the slider over 50%, that's when the collage program will throw in features I don't want. When it's completed rendering and I'm happy with the outcome I load it into gimp to finalize it.
Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions What I meant by making an existing character is moreso a question of repetition, like if you wanted more than one image of the same character. With different expressions and lighting, but with the same facial features like nose size, jaw shape, etc. But you said you start from a traditional sketch, so I imagine that would be no problem!
I followed your instructions. I think something went wrong.
"Fuck! Too much of Gevi's whiskey." LOL

It got worse than that, seriously! LOL
I've typed in Male elf, white, long hair, waterhouse. It came up with this after a lot of monstrous versions.

Damn, Galadriel! Your elf-eyes see EVERYTHING!
I use DALL-E to produce some pretty funny results--but not character art. Though some of the Dannies DeVito it has given me COULD be portraits.
