The Rimetide is a haunted land of ever winter and a mystery to many humans. But it is known that there is a race of savage elves that hunt in this almost unliveable place.
I'm designing a new race of elf like humanoids. I haven't come to the decision whether Daresthan is a dunmer or not, he has inspired me and several ESO features so I'm chucking ideas around in my head and off the wall. LOL
I'll edit this.

Will this take place in Nirn? I'm interested if you think Shanlee might work will within a party as another Warden, but no worries if not.
I was planning on a new realm where humans settled in a new land but I had some fancy ideas that Daresthan was impersonating a dunmer in ESO. This is why he referred to the dunmer as if he were not one of them.
LOL, understood. I look forward to how you develop the idea and if I have a character that can be suitable I'd like to join.
I thought about using the Brennia map as Mug has already mentioned people settling there especially if they kept to the south. I could have these dark elves to the north.

Elves ride wolves, hunt for meat and are seen as savages by the civilised settlers. Their gods are dark and violent as nature compared to the human gods. Many humans fear them but have never seen them, those that have survived have been lucky to escape. They have been seen using frost magic and commanding wolves as well as bears.

Would these elves sometimes make raids on the human villages and take captives?
I'm wondering if a former human captive having lived with them for a while and somehow having either escaped or been granted his freedom for some reason may have knowledge of them and be able to lead or advise the party or adventurers of humans. Or even a "dark elf" sympathetic to humans helping them if that might work as a character.
Also throwing ideas for others, it doesn't even need to be my character.
Edit: Or there could be a resource these humans desperately need and have to travel north into the Dark Elves lands to try to "get" (steal) or find a way to safely trade for it.

Originally, I imagined an ancient race once lived there, only leaving behind ruins, tombs, and bones. It could possibly attract the attention of scholars and treasure seekers, adventurers, and bards. There are also resident giants, their dwellings far from human occupation but with the encroachment of land cleared for farming they may be a little hostile.
If you plan to have your elves to the north then I will keep the giants as mountain dwellers, the terrain would suit them. I like Falyn's ideas but here is another to think about.
Imagine a disease began to spread among the humans. Over the last few years plants have been discovered that aid against certain ailments, quite effectively. However, these plants have now become rare around human settlements. A party of volunteers have been assembled to search for more of these rare plants. This may bring them into contact with your race.

My map has been edited, but I welcome your feedback on what names to add or change.
I most definitely should not be taking more on, bit if anyone is interested in building the human settlements, I would be interested in collaborating ideas and possibly coming up with a new character if we have enough people interested. I like the brainstorming going on.
Cool. The land of dark elves, giants, and of course, dragons.
Looking for a party of three or four, only human, non magic users. Maybe the magic used by dark elves can be taught to a human.
Say, the party comes across a wounded dark elf during their adventure. I think the settlers should be similar to the Anglo-Saxons or the Nordics of that era, The Dark Ages. I don't see many dark age themed stories.
Edit: We could go with the idea of the disease, perhaps one of the party is a young wise woman who believes if she finds one of the druids in the wild he may be able to help.
Another character could offer their help but their interests are in treasure and artefact seeking. They could be payed to rob some artefacts that are sacred to the elves or giants.
There could be a race of monstrous creatures that's a common enemy to humans and elves.
Daresthan is found unconscious and wounded after a fight with these creatures. He is an outcast but a famed warrior and hunter by his people. He could become a guide for the group if a trust is formed.

What's caused the disease could be the Dark Host, malignant shadowy entities that feed on the souls of the suffering but the humans would be oblivious to this until they learn magic from Daresthan, or they could be infected with magic from the soul wells that lay in obscure ruins but in time it will eventually ware off.
They would see the blackened spectres once they returned to aid the ill. They will discover that the plants won't heal the sickness but the strange crystal tablets found in the ruins will be a ward against the Dark Host. When the host cannot enter the towns and villages anymore the sick will slowly recover.
Those that have died, however, will be another concern later on and could be the plot of another story.

Could it be possible that the plants growing in proximity to the tablets or exposed it its magic slow the effects of the sickness and were wrongly thought to cure it? Perhaps similar crystal tablets were never found in areas these plants once grew in, hence the reason humans thought the plants were the cure.
I was thinking that these plants can help to cure more common ailments and infections and could be considered to cure this disease but with over harvesting they have become very scarce. Initially, I wasn't planning the plants and tablets were connected.
The ruins where these crystals are found will be on the borders of the Rimetide and beyond and it may have a connection to the Rimetide. If these crystals are placed in the villages and towns in the south, will that shift the Rimetide further south?

Very cool. I love all the thoughts and details coming together.
These elves can even be blamed for the sickness, they're thought of as savages living in caves with wolves and bears, eating offal and wearing skins and bones, worshiping destructive gods. The elves can see the Dark Host and they are not troubled by them, possibly because of the placement of the crystals or the magic the elves posses. Who knows.
Would a low level rune keeper be acceptable as a warrior archetype with some magic linked to body-tattoos and weapon runes as well as knowledge of runes? It's a craft I'm exploring on Shanlee on ESO, but I would prefer to create a new character and start them at low level to understand the class as I would RP it. I'd would need and would like to research more about it first.
I think if your character had magic then they'll likely see the Dark Host in the streets and houses and possibly come to the conclusion the disease was caused by them. It was my intention to reveal these entities using magic that's why the dark elves can see them but we can play around with your idea.
The people settled on the island about 20 years previously, so all the buildings would be built from timber. No major cities, castles, keeps or whatnot, just towns, villagers and remote farms.

Just a question. How does Velika get white hair or keep it white?
It’s natural or it’s suppose to be. I suppose it can be a white blonde furthered dyed with camomile and lemon juice unless neither of those are available then, sun-bleached.
The giants are primitive, tribal, and territorial. They won't trust the elves, they can just about tolerate them and they will definitely view humans with as much suspicion. The giants' magic will reflect another culture I designed, so elemental magic, fire, frost, and lightning but the giants won't indulge in that power except to fuel the forges on their mountains.
The druids, few have survived, will be deep in the forest, and encountering them may be difficult but not impossible. However, the druids have changed to emulate their surroundings.
I'll be portraying all NPCs of these factions and a wolf.
