LOCAL FLAVORS
Sprawling desert life, a near literal desolate wasteland dotted with ancient tourist traps and naturally occurring landmarks. The desert goes on forever, sparkling as it fades into the horizon.

The desert went on forever, the sun beating down across the backs of those brazen enough to try and traverse the sparkling sands on foot. Lizards skittered into their hidey holes while buzzards lapped circles in the sky, lazily drifting like so many dandelion tufts on a hot breeze. Somewhere in the distance, the twinkling mirage of what one could swear was a massive rockface stood like an imposing statue, daring anyone to come and scale its surface.

THE HIGH 'N DRY

"NOTHING BUT SAND FOR MILES"

Desolation's central area is also known to natives of Los Suenos as 'The High n' Dry' because if your car breaks down out there or you get taken out there, you're usually left high and dry without a chance back to civilization (or worse).

The desert is mostly wasteland with slim anything except for scarce wildlife and prickly fauna that thrives on the arid conditions.

✨ IC Flavor ✨

You ever wondered how many clones of one person you can see when you're so hot, even your tongue turns to sandpaper? Ever tried to battle a wild animal for some slim shade? Wondering what its like to make friends with a cactus? You're better off sticking to the tours, kid.

SPLIT STONE

"A man made ghost town in hell."

unknown.png

Split Stone was the set for a famous Spaghetti Western that was a flop when it was first released to theaters and then garnered cult classic status among Western movie (and comedy flick) enthusiasts.
✨ IC Flavor ✨

The remains of the set exists out in Desolation as a monument to 'tourism' and 'history'.

Most of the buildings that are remaining are merely incomplete stages, some of these buildings missing the entire backside of their structures.

---

The Spilled Sasparilla Saloon is one of the only appropriately functioning buildings that had been created for a huge fight scene and- despite the elements- withstood the years and maintained a surprisingly sturdy state.

HAIR-FRACTURE CAVE

"A gaping maw that swallows up the light but offers a cool reprieve from the vicious sun."

A sprawling cave system broken into several tight passages

Primarily comprised of granite, you can see largescale clusters of tourmaline of differing colors growing from deposits in different chambers of the cave system.

One of the largest antechambers features a massive sinkhole, ancient catwalks span the sides of the rockface, wood long since replaced with safer metal. Most people are too anxious to pass through this portion of the cave system due to the rumbling that can be heard from the hole itself. Some people claim to have heard voices from the center during the final tour hours of the day.

---

Night tours are unadvised (but spelunkers have been known to go in without permission).

The most advertised chamber of this cave system is the Rainbow Room, where clusters of tourmaline catch the light from a crack in the cavern ceiling, casting refractions across the walls and floors.

EL GLOTÓN

"Unforgiving, rough terrain to make the most experienced turn back."

desert.png

El Glotón is Spanish for The Wolverine, Spanish speaking locals giving the name to the mountainous landmark purely due to the unforgiving nature of its terrain.
✨ IC Flavor ✨

Unseasoned climbers have been known to struggle with the steep climb and its not unheard of to hear of someone falling and breaking a limb (or worse), and its recommended that those looking for the thrill of the climb do so under the supervision of the local tour and ranger station.

Hikers on the El Glotón trail similarly have faced dehydration due to ill preparation and its fairly common to see one or two people at the station waiting to be driven back to civilization because they foolishly thought they could get away with bringing the bare minimum.

---

Desert Rose Ranger Station sits at the base of the hiking trail, a crucial staple of tourists who just get a little too big for their egos.

Rangers in this area of Los Suenos are trained for environmental crisis awareness and are constantly in radio contact with LSPD or the LS Hospitals.
