You won't find it on any map, a land said to be lost to the misty seas, but if you venture for long enough in the right direction, and the gods deem it so, you may just run into the fog that will bring you to one of many docks on Esepora. The small continent is home to 3 kingdoms known as Arinus, Scadia, and Eymnora. At the very center is a large extradimensional lake called Aine's Pool, commonly believed to be the one the feyhund arrived through when they migrated from the Feywild.
In feyhund society a kinship group is known as a clan. A clan is a group of individuals who are descended from a common ancestor. It's larger than a pack (personal & extended family with a common leader) or personal family. The leader of a clan is called a Tanist, and they are typically elected to their position by the various Alphas within their clan. There are approximately 260 clans across the whole of Esepora.
Their society is matrilineal, meaning that their lines of kinship are traced through the mother, however they practice a form of ambiarchy wherein any individual can hold positions of power regardless of gender.
Feyhund culture is based around a social structure of class and kingship, and though each kingdom has their own laws and ways of doing things, society is typically divided into 5 classes: the warrior class, the intellectual class, the freemen, the thralls, and the déithen.
- The warrior class consists of those who are distinguished by their dedication to fighting for whatever their cause may be, often serving in the military, as guards, or mercenaries.
- The intellectual class consists of those serving in professions such as scholars, bards, traveling merchants, or healers.
- The freemen are everyone else; some own land or farms, serve as craftsmen or builders.
- Thralls are the slave class acquired from war, raids, punishment for crimes, and debt servitude. It is hereditary though manumission exists.
- The déithen are members of the greater faith and serve the Greater Temple.
Along with the various classes one can fall into there is a distinct social hierarchy.
- The top rank in Eseporan society, Nobility, includes the Rulers and their immediate families, the Heir, Clerics, Druids, Vates, and Fealds
- The second rank, Elites, are the upper class of Eseporan society and includes professionals such as lawmen, physicians, master craftsmen, famed musicians, scholars. and high ranking military officials. Every member owns land or property, or is independently wealthy.
- The third rank, Laborers, is the working class of Esepora and encompasses the vast majority of the population. They own very little but are able to work and make a living.
- The fouth rank, Underclass, are those who own little to nothing and have no means to make a living.
- At the bottom of the ladder are those who are unfree such as serfs, slaves, and prisoners. They are considered unranked
