THE JACKALS
NAME: The Jackals
LEADER(S): Sloane Barlow
MEMBER COUNT: 10 currently, although members come and go.
LOCATION/TERRITORY: Nomads. The Jackals do not have any territory claimed.
MOTIVATION/PURPOSE: Survival. Raiders.
BACKSTORY: Sloane was a drifter for many years until eventually banding together with other loners of similar creed. The Jackals are a ragtag, disreputable bunch and Sloane is their leader. She prefers to be feared rather than respected, and is not above doing whatever it takes to survive. Sloane and the Jackals are known to kill over territory and supplies, and many avoid them at all costs.
SISTERHOOD OF SCALES
NAME:Sisterhood of Scales
LEADER(S): "Founder" Sabine
MEMBER COUNT: 65. Women make up 60% of the faction. This number doesn't include the few slaves they have and the offspring of families within the faction. This number constantly fluctuates.
LOCATION/TERRITORY: Abandoned radio station somewhere in the western part of the cradle. The radio tower has had fortifications built on it and houses 2 to 3 snipers in nests. The compound beneath has been added to with a tent city of sorts around it and makeshift buildings. It is nestled on high ground with a good view of the surrounding areas.
MOTIVATION/PURPOSE: Mercenaries and Scavengers, though they can be seen as raiders. Their motivations are purely for the betterment of their group.
BACKSTORY:Initially started from the remnants of an all female motorcycle gang that was active pre-war out west, but over the many decades since then it has shifted and shaped to being a matriarchal warrior tribe that typically rides on mutated reptilian beasts. They used to be partially nomadic in nature, but have since created a village built around an abandoned radio station that they return to, as where their whole group usually collects. Primary function for them is to act as Mercenaries and scavengers, often working with other factions until they can return home with their spoils. Everything they do, they do for the betterment of their group. When wronged they typically pull out of a location only to return later and pillage it then raze it to the ground. Due to the nature of their group, they often come across rarities that are kept and traded later for more useful things, on top of this they have a fairly productive drug trade of powerful hallucinogenic plants from out west and some they grow their own and they make a mean moonshine.
The group as a whole has a loose set of morals, though generally having a code that they follow themselves. They are matriarchal, but not ultra misandrist or anything like that. Menfolk [or those that identify as such] have a use, but within their own ranks and in general they take the opinions of the women over the men unless given reason to believe otherwise. Their leadership is composed entirely of women, except for a sub-tribe within the Sisterhood of Scales composed of the men born into their ranks, those that joined willingly and those that were collected from the wasteland. The Hierarchy is simple enough. Sons of the Sisterhood are at the top, and a council of the eldest of them meet with the elders of the main tribe, those who willingly joined for one reason or another make up most of the ranks of this sub-tribe and vary from scavengers, to guards to general laborers and more. Those with skills that are sought after are better off than those who are only good for a few things. Those who were collected from the wasteland vary. Some, through work and loyalty are given the same rights as those who willingly joined them, while others spend their time as slaves or prisoners used for hard labor or as concubines. If they prove their worth then they will earn more, but if not then they likely will die tired.
Children are important and raised by the whole tribe/clan. Mothers are treated well, as they give life and the fathers are given respect when earned. Boys are raised no different than the girls, though are generally spend more time with their fathers. The exception is the slaves as one never knows how loyal they are. Boys at around 16-18 are sent out to assimilate into other groups and act as scouts or informants. They play an important part and as they grow within these communities they become vital to learning new things. Generally when they take a wife they'll return to join their brothers and raise their children within the fold of the tribe, but this doesn't always happen. The Sisterhood typically keep tabs on them when they can to find out what they are doing. Some return and some don't, though there is a general understanding that if any of them, or anyone for that matter betray the tribe then they will be brutalized.
