Introduction

  • οφθαλμόν αντί οφθαλμού

When faith rules over a heart
Fear takes hold of a mind

    Eye for an eye
    Will render us blind

    Tooth for a tooth
    Will starve us all

  • The Plot

    The premise of our story...

    ZtYAx4w.png
Story of faith, justice system, the power, both religious and political, as well as the mystical secrets of the mage society. A heroic adventure that starts with two people who wish to right the wrongs of the world and to prevent from a reviving disaster. Your character, is a figure much like a Paladin or a Templar. A man of strong faith, sense of justice, respected and loved by the many after years of serving the King and his people, as well as God, performing duties in His name. People go as far as to call him an Angel and a man of pure virtue, he is still but a man, and he is humbled by this very fact. However, while plenty of people who come from his faith are extremely biased with their beliefs, unkind to those who do not share the faith and same strength of belief, your character, our faithful knight, is no such tyrant. He is a man of strong will, but pure heart.

My character, Medea of the Pyristephēs is a court mage for the King. Despite the strong beliefs of the faith that magic is inhuman, as the mages are not entirely human, and unnatural, having a court mage is a necessary evil. And what makes this situation more complicated is that Medea is of a bloodline of mages who carry the blood of the dragons. Dragons, in years beyond counting, around the time when they have gone extinct, cast the disaster upon the world that is known now as the Infernal Age. She had faced plenty of discrimination, not only for being what she is, but also for being a woman in the King's court. And the only reason they have accepted Medea into the court was for a reason that had troubled the King for some time now - mages have become quite rare in the days of late. Medea's presence was merely out of desperation, though both the King and his close advisors made it clear that once a capable mage makes an appearance, as long as they're not a Dragon Sorcerer, Medea would be replaced.

Despite her hardships, Medea had prevailed and worked at the court. She had never caused any issues to anyone, kept to herself, even though the nobles would come to pick at the mage in the hopes for some cruel entertainment, but nothing ever came of it. Your character will end up being the only one to show this mage common decency and respect, which would kindle a friendship, although one that they have to hide. For if he is discovered that he had befriended a witch, him - a man of faith and an icon among men, his reputation could be smeared to the point where he may lose his position.

However, one day the court had been called to discuss with the men regarding the disaster that had taken place in the dead of night. Villagers were terrified and an entire farmhouse had been destroyed and all that was left was a scorching hot pit. Nobody saw what had happened, but the terrifying noises that the villagers have described it sounding like a monster, one that may possibly fly.

And as Medea inspects whatever was left of this monster, she would come to your character with a dreadfully concerned expression and give him the news - that what the villagers have spoken was true... It was not only a monster, but her very Ancestors - Dragons.

And additional note - I'm yearning for a romance to bloom here. And I'm talking about pure, selfless love that goes through plenty of hardships.
  • Additional details

This world is referred to as Gaia.

The setting of this universe is a hybrid. Genre is mid/high fantasy with Greco-Roman themes and aesthetic, as well as additional medieval flair. Mages and their society especially would take on the Ancient Greek style, while the kingdoms (specifically capitals) will have a very Imperialistic and Roman vibe to it. Human society is extremely religious. The religion itself is very old-school Christian and in our story would almost feel antagonistic, because the church demands fanaticism from its followers. Your character is the man of faith, but he is not a fanatic and would disagree with the way the people of his faith treat others.

The lore will be connected to the religious scriptures (akin to the Bible) but filled with prejudice against the mage society and the dragon nature - dragon represent the devils of the universe.

There are no monsters in this universe, at least not that the people know of. They went extinct at some point, but they no longer exist in present society... Until our roleplay starts, that is.

The mages are not human. They look like humans, but most (not all of them) have specific physical traits that would alert the people of what they are. And in such a heavily religious environment, they are never welcome. But, the mages are not tied to the religion (at least not fundamentally) and they hold knowledge that was completely erased by the church. Knowledge that can change the course of future. Knowledge that the mages would not be too keen on sharing with others.

This roleplay will have adventures, and our characters, who will be on a quest to stop the disaster, will go to different places that we can build together.
