The story starts in a Empire Valiadalius, ruled by the King Adrianous the Third, a magnificent capital with heroic past, home to the church of God that is located in the mountains known as the God's Resting Place where the pilgrims would risk their lives to behold the most sacred place in the world.

For now, there's three languages that will be referenced throughout the story and each of the three languages have their own use. Should we move on to world build some more, adding languages is always on the table.

    The Common Tongue

First is the Common Tongue, by our standards that is English, while in the universe, that is regarded as the Common Tongue used by everyone as a form of communication as it is easy to learn and understand by the people of all background and classes, both in spoken and written form.

    Canticum Prophetae

The second is the Prophet Song, which is mainly used among the priests and the members of nobility, as well as royalty, as the scripture, that was written by the prophets, is written in what is now known as Canticum Prophetae language. It is Latin by nature, formal and elegant, while only select few would speak this language flawlessly, many people from the capitol are named after the words and names of the scripture. It is part of the culture that the common folk who follow the religion (which are many, if not all in Validalius) and the scripture can at the very least recite the language based on what they ready.

Unbeknownst to the people, Prophet Song as a language is a heavily altered language of the Ancient Tongue.

    Αρχαία γλώσσα

And the third language is known as the Ancient Tongue. Few words of the Ancient Tongue are referenced in the scriptures, however, while it can be understood in reading by mainly scholars, nobody could outright speak it... That is unless you are a mage. The religion had marked the Ancient Tongue as the language of curse, but even they admit that there's hidden knowledge in the language. The Ancient Tongue is the language of the Dragons, the first language that was spoken in Gaia. The Dragon Sorcerers are born knowing this language without learning, while other mages need to learn to speak it. The Ancient Tongue is the language of magic rather than curse and it is not meant to be spoken without intentions. Prophet Mihaous had written in the scripture before he died of a terrifying event that started the Infernal Age. He encountered the Last Dragon who had spoken the name of the Elder Dragon that is written in Ancient Tongue. Just the mere mention of the name had doomed an entire age, which only solidified in the eyes of the people, that dragons truly are the devils of the world.

The original name of the Dragon Sorcerers, Pyristephēs, is the Ancient Tongue word πυριστεφής and can only be said and used by the Dragon Sorcerers themselves.

The Ancient Tongue is ancient Greek language.
