Ebon Gloom

Welcome to Ebon Gloom, a world centered around the strange, the weird, the beautiful, and the horrid. A fantasy setting with technology resting roughly around 1811 to 1820, where decadence and disparity between the upper and lower class stand in stark contrast. Centered around the city of Witchwell, the capital of Roscara, a metropolis just over 1.2 million bodies strong, where creatures of magic hide in plain sight, puppeteering the wealthy and powerful behind masks of false humanity. Meanwhile on the borders of the country darkness creeps in, growing monsters in the dark that slink from the shadows to torment the people of Roscara.

Queen Maren, head of the parliamentary council has not been seen in weeks, though many have vowed she is in good health. The upper city in its glamourous nature continues onward as the season has opened the marriage market for many young men and women of marriageable age while in the slums it is clear something has changed. Social programs that once housed and fed the downtrodden have dried up and water that once sprung from wells to drink and wash has been diverted to the homes of the elite.

Crime runs rampant, and as the thought of summer's end nags on the back of everyone’s mind, the people question what will become of them. Talk of revolt and revolution is whispered in gambling parlors and gin clubs, and disdain for the upper crust grows with the divide in their wealth. All things are possible in Witchwell, and that is precisely the problem, one question circulates in the minds of those clever enough to ask. What comes next?


Ebon Gloom was created to give players access to easy freeform Roleplay in a premade world they get a say in. Where what they do, the choices characters make, and the way they interact with the world in public games truly can make an impact. Though remember, with all choice comes consequence.
