Map Areas

  • About

It seems like only yesterday that KI was limited to the Main Hall and Bar, now the map has many more areas to play. After a hiatus I've resumed adding new areas semi-regularly as well.

If you're interested in following along with the development process we strongly suggest joining the KI discord.
  • The Main map Areas.

The Palace Facade: This is not the first, nor only, entrance to the Palace, but it is the one most often used. The frame of the door is carved in the likeness of an angry, or perhaps anguished, face wreathed in flame-like peacock feathers, rarely shuttered by immense wooden doors. This is the new arrival area of the map.
    Zone: 🟢 Green.

The Main Hall: An expansive hypostyle hall tiled in blues and gold. Once a temple, then a throne room, and now simply a place of luxury and comfort. At its center, a large fountain in the shape of a lotus flower bubbles with cool spring-fed water. Plush cushions and chairs adorn the space, along with rich carpets and drapery. The tables scattered between can be seen covered in sumptuous fruits and cured meats, as well as beverages, and occasionally games.
    Zone: 🟢 Green.

The Bar: Formerly the Dais upon which sat a statue, and then a throne, it could be said that this place has fallen from grace ever-so-slightly, as it now houses Ka Idimmu's bar. From the rooms beyond a myriad of foods and beverages issue forth, and the front of house stock is itself impressive. Here taller chairs provide a slightly more formal, but no less richly comfortable environment.
    Zone: 🟢 Green.

The Lounge: A little more spice than the main hall with easy access to its central hub. A long, narrow, room filled to the brim with cushions, but also formal seating. The grated windows hold views of the palace and city below. Along one wall are cozy nooks for cuddling. The tables here are much larger, and better suited to dining.
    Zone: 🟡 Yellow.

The Arbor: An airy room with tall windows overlooking the distant mountains and valleys, densely packed with a variety of plants. Some inhabitants are potted, some dangling, while others emerge from the walls and floor. These plants represent a bit of the good will between the Palace and the ancient Wood-spirits in the foreboding North of the Island. Dotted around are more formal seating areas. Attached to this is the Balcony that can only be described as "quite lush", with a vista showing some of the palace and city below.
    Zone: 🟢 Green.

The Riad: An enclosed courtyard with a high ceiling supported by large pillars. Above are stained glass ceilings allowing in a dappled, muted, light. A large, potted, plant compliments the pool and lounging areas. Lining one of the walls are doorways to lockable rooms, allowing for more private and intimate role play.
    Zone: 🟡 Yellow.

The Baths: Down a small set of stairs is a long tiled bath with stepped sides, the ceiling supported by thin pillars, and lit by dangling candle cups. A fireplace shaped like a face adorns the rear wall, throwing glimmering reflections against the walls. Along one side are smaller, private, baths.
    Zone: 🟠 Orange.

The Garden: The plants are a little too wild, and a little too set in their ways for it to truly be formal. A large pond occupies the center of the garden, growing an immense plant - somewhere between a Lily and Lotus - which the Main hall's fountain is based upon. A person can stand, sit, or lie upon the floating leaves without risk of sinking. This pond is fed by a spitting stone face on the wall of the North East, which trickles down a waterfall and into the basin. There are a few stone benches and plush seating areas scattered around.
    Zone: 🟠 Orange.

The Dungeon: The bright plasters are literally crumbling away from old volcanic stone. The stairs down are worn and require a little more care to navigate. Iron bars with chipped gilding block off damp cells littered with old, destroyed, cushions and drapery. Tattered banners hang from the walls in places, their blazons faded with age. Low niches blaze with ceaseless fires, and strangely shaped benches and racks filled with curious tools line the walls. A few of the doors still function, and are still (though rarely) locked tight to conceal what torments go on within.
    Zone: 🔴 Red.

Other assorted hallways, passages, small nooks and lockable rooms interconnect these spaces.
