The World and Lore

  • The World Itself

Ka Idimmu is the map name, as well as that of the name of the Palace itself, and the mountain the Palace sits on. This map exists in a world not specified to be earth or any particular planet, but with the potential to be any as is needed, or have access to other realms via accident, incident, or ritual magic. It is on a small Island-Continent (map image currently in-progress) and has a tropical to subtropical climate. The further one is from the mountain, whether by nature or more likely by magic, the cooler the climate becomes.

The immediate area around the mountain and palace is primordial tropical rainforest, spreading out to palms, sparse hardwoods, and even a few swamp regions. There is local wildlife, though few (if any) native Mammals. Over the centuries many species have been introduced, both predator and prey (some having escaped from exotic gardens into the wild). Birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fish are all numerous and larger than one may ordinarily expect.

Ka Idimmu is not the only mountain on the island, but it is the largest and the tallest, and it is surrounded by numerous foothills. In those foothills are lakes, rivers, creeks and ponds which are fed by rainfall.

There are lots of sandy sheltered coves and bays dotted along the Southern and trailing Western edges of the island, and even a few coral atolls. These waters are rich with all forms of sea life, though some of it seems to take on a “mythic” scale.

"The Sea" is an unnamed ocean of large size. To the North-East there is an unnamed continent which experiences harsh, cold, winters. To the West over a much greater distance is a temperate continent that is considered "frontier".

The traffic onto and off of the island is primarily by boat. As an island nation there is no shortage of docks, ports, and other places of entry ranging from modest fishing villages to elaborate thoroughfares for the shipping of goods. There are no menacing reefs, or treacherous waters, though the seas to the East and North East are a deep plunge with no shallows and it is rumored that a forgotten race dwells in the depths. There is at least one port for air ships located in the major Western city, and arrangements could be made for a landing in the Palace city.
