HOW THINGS WORK!
On this page you will find the sections and answers pertaining to elements of the RP! This is a working list, and as questions come up, and answers are provided, this list might become updated over time! Especially the POWERS section. These elements and mechanics will cover the following...

1) POWERS
Powers are limited only to those who have been SHIFTED or are DEMONS from Hell. Powers did not exist in this world prior, and thus are relatively new to everyone. Yes, even demons! Because their powers will feel/act differently for them here in the physical world!
~THE ARCHETYPE SYSTEM
Upon Character Creation, if you are in possession of Powers, you will need to follow the Archetype System as followed.
- Select up to 2 Greater Themes to be your 'Power Archetypes.' (Example: Fire, Water, Air, Rock, Telekinesis, ect...)
- For each Archetype, Select up to 3 Sub Powers that align with your Archetype. You can forego a 2nd Archetype, and produce up to 6 Sub Powers for your Archetype if you do so. (Example: PA: FIRE - SP's: Fire Manipulation, Fire Summoning, Heat Resistance, Fire Proof, ect...)
- Do not power game. We are here for fun. Not trying to break the game. No matter the powers you choose, we as story tellers will find the best ways to utilize your content, and manage your Perils and Triumphs.
- As a creative writer, have fun IC and make your powers and character blend smoothly into the city. Imagine the sort of trouble you might get into if your stir the pot too much in a world like this! lol
- ADDENDUM 1 - Powers are new to the world, and at most people have been using them for about 5 years. No on is an absolute natural with their powers, and as such, using them requires some sort of display, focus, time or effort/exertion. Make sure to RP it appropriately when using powers.
Off Limits / Lmited / Regulation
There are a few powers, which as an Archetype have been deemed 'Off Limits.' Due to the potential behind such archetypes and their game breaking potential, characters will not have access to these Archetypes, or, some of them will have implemented limitations.
- Time - Anything pertaining to the manipulation or travel of time. Hard No.
- Gravity - Changing gravity changes all physics. Math, science, yada yada. Hard No.
- Mind - Brain Washing people, controlling their actions mentally, embedding thoughts. - LIMITED - If you really want this as a power, please be aware of the potential power behind this. PVP scenarios must be creatively done and fair. NPC abuse can be fun, but should still be limited. Be responsible with this one!
Regulations are more so a Trust Topic here. We dont want to hard cut anyones imagination and creativity. So with that, lets just lay it down nice and simple. Once your powers are approved, we dont want to come chasing after anyone OOC because of abuse or powergaming. So just be cool, have fun, and make sure to give yourself limits. Ya dig? *Fist Bump* -
2) DICE & OUTCOMES
Throughout the RP Dice rolls will become an occasional use for the sake of determining outcomes for random RP variability, and as well as settling disputes should they ever occur!
If there is ever a situation where you and a partner can not decide on the outcome, Roll A Die! Random is fair, and it leaves room for improvised scenes which you might not have been expecting, but can be super fun! For a fun twist too, skip the Dice Roll all together! Ask MoD and Staff to take a quick step in, and GM an outcome or scenario for you! That way you and your partners have something new and unexpected to play with!
When having MoD and Staff engaging in determining outcomes, it could become possible that we determine certain situations warrant modifiers to the roll! These could be due to things such as proper/improper planning for missions! Having intel on targets or other characters! Or simply being caught by total surprise! Modifiers will always be in the forms of simple + or - values to the roll, and we will only roll with d20's for these types of modified checks.
By nature, we assume flat out that all characters are equal in prowess or potential with their rolls, so everyone has a chance to shine! Modifiers, however, will simply be the difference in advantage or disadvantages certain characters might have during a situation. You as the player can also always offer to forgo these buffs if you feel a struggle or challenge would be more suited for your character! Who are we to tell you cant make things harder for yourself, if you want some more fun an drama out of it!?
What the Dice Usually Mean
d20 - Roll these when instructed by MoD and Staff for the sake of determining prompted random outcomes. May or may not be modified!
d20 vs d20 - Roll this against your opponent as a flat unmodified roll, to see who the result favors. If MoD is needed for VS rolls, modifiers might come into play.
d6 - When rolling a d6 or multiple d6's for outcome, these are often referred to as Success Rolls. 5 & 6 on these rolls represent Successes! Everything else is a Fail! These are not modified, but, the number of dice rolled could be more than 1!

3) PARTICIPATION AND BUFFS
Who doesn't love the idea of powering up their characters?! Well, through participation in the Events of the RP, we're going to be handing out Developmental Powerups and Items in theme with the Hellish Magic and Items! These will be all sorts of interesting goodies and funsies to let your characters explore more power options via gadgets and items. Or they might be in the form of sheer experience your character has gathered through their enduring of craziness throughout the city!
The typical way these enhancements and gifts will be handled is as so...
Hellish Items, Relics, Magics and Powerups - These are pure RP themes, and acquisitions your character might come to possess, which will give you access to new avenues of RP and fun! Hellish Jetpack or Brimstone Wings so you can fly around now? Transmutation Tablets to do Alchemy? Evolution to one of your characters Sub Powers? We can get creative with this forever!
Experience - Plain and simple here. Your character has more experience with what ever BS thats going on in the city, opposed to someone who doesnt have the experience! Or they have a better handle on their powers and such. Modifiers and situations with rolls will start to lean in favor of those with gathered experience.
Want to have access to getting ahold of some of these lovely opportunities for boons?! Dont feel like you have to go crazy over them, but participation in Events and Storyline RP will certainly be a fast track for them! But thats not to say MoD and Staff might not award out our casual, but active members around the group too! We love popping in and doing random GM shenanigans! So dont be surprised if during your casual travels in the city you stumble upon goodies! We promise too, that we will never create too much leverage or a power division between players. It is not our intention to have a system which makes character inherently better than others, because this is not! Its just a fun element of flavor to have fun with! -
4) KEY FIGURES
Throughout the city there are Key Figures to be aware of. These individuals have a variety of importance around the city and the RP, and any interactions with them could wind up being very important down the line! By no means are they off limits though! Some of them just might require some creative ways of Coaxing into the IC environment, if you don't see Mod and Staff piloting these characters in an existing scene. Do not be afraid of ask around IC, or if you're feeling really stumped, maybe inquire OOC about how getting a scene with some of these figures might begin!
The information provided about any of these characters
- Devon Nihasa - The Devil, no longer in disguise! Mayor of the city! President of Sol'Luna! She is the Hellhound on the worlds mind, after her years of blending into the background at Nu'Pantheon. She brings in the goods from hell, and she arranges the meetings and foreign trades with other nations who want a taste of the new wonders of Sol'Luna. As such, she is absolutely hard to pin down. Charming. Devious. Cunning. Seemingly all powerful! In this world, who can question or even challenge the Devil Herself?!
- Atlas (Lex Vaughn) - The founder and CEO of Nu'Pantheon. Atlas for years was always seen with Devon by his side. After the Devils reveal though, this man's legacy only grew more. The Shift changed many people in the city, but Devon herself chose to change Atlas. An Archdemon! Among the most wealthy of people in the world, and now one of Devon's personal Generals, seeing to the preservation of Devon's intentions while still successfully running the ever lucrative NP business. Known as 'The Nightmare,' rumor has it his new ArchDemon powers have heavily leaned into his strengths. All anyone knows for sure though, is they have seen the smolder of shadows in his eyes, and in his very presence. Like the dark around them has become a living thing in his presence!
- Alexander Serif - Reclusive C.E.O of Full Moon Technical solutions, a fairly widespread though little known manufacturing company specializing in electronic components. Recently returned to the city after several years abroad, rumored to have had connections to a now defunct group known as "The Organization". Little about the man's background or the reason for his abrupt resurfacing is known. Though rumors abound, ranging from the man having come for the mayor's head, all the way to a desire to swear allegiance to her. Though one thing's for sure, he's come for a reason...
- The Grave Twins - Perhaps the most ellusive Duo the city has ever experienced. Their come-up was as sudden and powerful as their presence now! Rulers of The Underground, The Grave Twins are known to operate by proxy through other puppets of their organization. Such measures taken so smoothly that only the most select few in the city actually know what this power Duo actually looks like. The only lead that even the PD have for tracking them, is that they are of the serpent species, and they are also the unspoken owners of The Solstice Boardwalk.

5) ARCHDEMONS & SAINTS
Throughout the city there are powerful forces at work. Beings who have been changed a touch further than the Shifted, or the commonly seen demons around Sol'Luna. In some rare cases, beings who have been touched by the Infernal, and evolved further into their new meta-state, have become Archdemons! While the Heavens too have been silently playing their own hand. In secrecy, some rare few, touched by the divine, have become Saints! All now playing a part in the city at large!
These roles and statuses can be earned IC through proper Participation and IC Development. They are not simply handed out. They are also not meant to be in an over abundance. So bare in mind while striving for one of theses rolls. You'll wind up playing a big part in the city. So be ready for the fun and commitment. These statuses can be taken away!
ARRCHDEMONS
The powerful and devoted to Devon, who had either been hand chosen by the devil herself, or ascended to their new meta-state due to their devotion to the Devil, and their bond with the infernal energies from The Shift. They walk the streets as Celebrities among the city! More popular and in demand than movie stars! Just their presence alone is awe inspiring to most, and the city just can't help but want to be involved with what ever they are doing!
- Atlas - Same Bio as his Key Figure Status.
- Carmilla - A face which no one in the city seems to recognize from before the shift. Yet, she seems to know the ins and outs of Sol'Luna almost romantically. One of the Archdemons of Sol'Luna, she is revered as one of the beloved celebrities of the city. A thorn with the sharpest of thorns, and a forbidden fruit that so many crave. She is known for her hellish creations of Stone and Fire. Golems of Brimstone, explosively packed with hellish power. There are deep secrets about this one though, and her history in the city.
- Vincent Dupont: One of the arch-demons come to earth during the opening of the hell-gate. Unlike his more fiery contemporaries Vincent was the first short of Devon herself to embrace humanity and his status as a celebrity of course. A figuratively and literally colorful showman, Vincent is always chasing the spotlight. In the short while since his arrival he's put together a vegas style performance venue, countless interviews, deals with particularly bold companies. Wielding his hellish power for spectacle instead of domination he's known for hosting lavish and outlandish parties, guest appearances at big ticket events, you name he's done it, or he's on his way to try it!
SAINTS
The powerful few, secretly chosen by the Heavens to help strike back against the infernal tide. While its not a mission from "God," something speaks to and resonates within these individuals, to harness their divinity and help push back against Hell and restore balance. There is no creed, handbook. Just a calling from deep within them, that something has to be done, and they have been gifted the power to stand up and fight back, how ever they best can.
SAINTS ARE NOW OPEN FOR PLAYERS TO WORK INTO.
By working with the MoDs to craft out fun and developmental scenes, you can very much so put your character down the path of being a Saint! Just let us know if you're interested, and lets all work together in painted out an amazing Awakening Scene that does your character justice for their role, should they strive for it!
