    ★ GEOGRAPHY

Starvine exists within its own unique continuity; geographically, it is situated in the state of Theora, and is the largest city within its home country of Achana. The world it exists within is plagued by civilisation's excessive consumption, evident by the wastelands surrounding the city's borders. A huge portion of Starvine's population have never left the city limits. The city itself is built on a natural cliff; Starfield sits proudly at the top, and is commonly referred to as The Bluff. Goldenleaf (often referred to as 'The Shade') resides on Starfield's outskirts, and both Foolshope and Nearon are situated at the bottom of Star Bridge, a heavily-controlled highway into the glossier areas of the city.

The entirety of Starvine is bordered by a perimeter fence. While the wealthier districts boast a well-maintained fence, the fence around Nearon has seen better days. Curious explorers will find it easy to make their way out of the city - without the questioning at the city gates by the border guard. While citizens aren't prevented from leaving the city, it is ill-advised to face the wastelands without a plan.

The country of Achana is frequently subjected to bouts of heated rainfall. The districts of Starfield and Goldenleaf are protected from these weather events via the Dome, an artificial energy barrier that repels the water and channels it down the edges of The Bluff, while Foolshope and Nearon are left to their own devices. The rain often reaches temperatures of 120°F, although there have been rare cases of higher recorded temperatures. While the rain doesn't necessarily burn on impact, it is far enough above the human pain threshold (106-108°F) that it is rare to see anybody who isn't appropriately equipped (or who is not cold-blooded by nature) cavorting around in it.

The weather in Achana tends to be hot and sticky in the warmer months, with the typically cooler months offering some reprieve. It does not snow in or anywhere near Starvine. It experiences a monsoonal, summer wet season, where the rains tend to be at their hottest.

  • ★ TECHNOLOGY

Flying cars and public transport are not uncommon in both Starfield and Goldenleaf, as well as communication via hologram, futuristic weaponry and startlingly realistic virtual reality. Traditional cars and bikes are seldom seen outside of Foolshope and Nearon, as they're considered old (and embarrassing) technology - but they still have to get by somehow.

    ★ MEDICAL SCIENCE

Medicine has come a long way - especially in Achana. Prosthetic limbs, organs and even eyes are a common occurrence; some of the more wealthy denizens of the city have been reported to have replaced parts of themselves frequently enough that they now live unnaturally lengthy lives. Also common are chips that both store and upload information to the brain, as well as replace segments of memory or function that have been damaged. Professional medical care can be expensive - but there are plenty of doctors at the bottom of The Bluffs who'll do the job a little cheaper.

    ★ TRANSPORTATION

Those residing in Starfield will most often have their own means of transport (usually a flying/hovering car of some description), something also commonly seen in Goldenleaf. Also frequently utilised are flying buses, hover boards and bikes of the same nature. There is also bullet train that runs the length of the city that many use to move around quickly and efficiently.

  • ★ MAGIC

The world Achana exists within is permeated by magic, though not visible to the naked eye. It exists as a resource, once thought to be infinite, but has become more scarce as time goes on. It is harnessed through pockets of magical energy, flora, and in many unfortunate cases, through many of Achana's local species who naturally produce it. Several species have been driven to extinction, with others critically endangered.

As with all resources, it takes both time, research and effort to learn to harness it. Thus far, efforts to use magical energy in mass quantities have failed - sometimes catastrophically, which has evoked some concern, even fear, in Achana's populace. It is most commonly used in small-scale, artisanal applications; prosthetics, trinkets, light and decor are prevalent in the wealthier districts, with more crude applications observed below The Bluff.

OOC Note: While magic isn't the main focus of this continuity, you are welcome to create and play a character that uses it, provided it doesn't impede on the enjoyment of others or threaten the city as a whole.

    ★ GOVERNMENT

Unsurprisingly, Starvine - and Achana as a whole - are ruled by a largely dystopian government structure. Not only has this caused the immense environmental destruction seen outside of Starvine's walls, the predictably broken caste system sees those in the city's outskirts being largely left behind.
